There she is doing the sunset. Oh I don't know if you can hear that but that's the church bells near
Pisa ringing. Good morning guys here from Pisa. The reason we were hearing church bells earlier
is because it's Sunday. So today we're actually going to head out into the town of Pisa. We
arrived here yesterday on train from Rome so if you haven't gone and checked those vlogs out
definitely go check them out. This is part of a whole Italy series. Today we're exploring Pisa
and we're going to go see the Leaning Tower and the cute little square and spend the evening in
Pisa. We're going to be tourists and do the typical tourist photo of the Leaning Tower of Pisa so
let's go shall we. We're just coming around the side entrance here.
There's also a gateway to the little square over there as well which gives you a view of the
Leaning Tower because it's right behind this church right here. I absolutely love the light
stonework of it all. It's so beautiful like the white marble stone.
The details on the buildings are absolutely incredible. Wow!
Leaning Tower of Pisa. It's quite interesting because it's actually leaning more than I
thought it was actually going to be leaning. I know that's a stupid thing to say but I didn't
think the gradient of the lean was as much as it seems online but there it is. It is funny seeing
everyone take the stereotypical photo and now I'm going to take one too. Mike said take a shot for
every time you see someone try to hold up the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Leaning Tower of Pisa
was built as a bell tower for Pisa Cathedral. Its purpose was to house the bells and provide a
visually striking addition to the cathedral complex and it actually leans due to unstable
foundations and a soft ground which causes its characteristic tilt. I think the issue is I keep
trying to straighten out my camera when I get footage of it. I think that's what happens when
I watch vlogs. It doesn't look as leaning as it actually is leaning. It really really is leaning
to one side and I just didn't realize the extent of it. You may be wondering how the Leaning Tower
of Pisa has not fallen over but it's primarily due to restoration effort and engineering innovations.
Various stabilization methods have been employed over the years including adding counterweights,
removing soil from the higher side and reinforcing the tower's foundations.
These measures have helped prevent further tilting and ensure the tower's stability.
There's a queue to get into the tower but it doesn't look as busy as all the attractions in
Rome which is good. I think everyone is all churched out from Rome going in all the little
churches. We did lots of detours every time we passed a nice church we went inside
so I don't think we're going to buy tickets to walk to the top.
You're not allowed to stand or walk on this grass but if you brought some nice picnic food it would
be nice to kind of just have a little picnic here. Maybe not on the grass but on one of the benches
that is around. Just found here we've got some gift shops. I'm actually wanting a magnet. I've
seen a lot of markets and stalls since getting here yesterday. Also selling these little Pisa
tower figures which are quite cute. You can get the tickets for the tower just here near the opera
and there's also a cloakroom to store your bags and coats if you want it but I'm just going to
keep having a little walk around this square. There's also a little mailbox and some Pisa
postcards here so you can send a little Pisa postcard. Right at the back if you come around
the square is a much better place to get photos because there is like no one here and you could
do the whole Leany photo right here with no one here as you can see. So a little tip for you there
if you do want to do a little photo come to the back of the square. It is starting to spit a little
bit so we're going to go find somewhere for lunch and coffee and keep exploring and I just absolutely
love all the buildings and everything. They've got little streets you can walk down with beautiful
old Tuscany style buildings and yeah we're going to walk around and find some coffee. Also I better
get used to the rain because we are heading to Japan in a few weeks and that is going to be the
start of a very very exciting Japanese series like a big series of travel vlogs and something
that has been on my bucket list for a very very long time. Definitely subscribe and stick around
because I cannot wait and we are going during the rainy season we're heading there in June
so it's going to be pretty rainy so we better get used to the humidity and rain because
we're going to have a lot of it.
Just opposite the tower is this beautiful side street they are doing construction on one side
of this wall here because it looks like the buildings are crumbling a little bit
but look how beautiful the buildings are.
We've come to this really nice looking restaurant it seems really busy it's like one of the busiest
ones which I'm hoping is a good sign and we're just sitting here taking shelter from the rain
oh we have to move but we're moving inside so we got moved slightly inside which is a little bit
more undercover we're not inside or outside but it's slightly more undercover and we're going to
get something to eat or drink I think. I think me and Dean are going to go for the selected
cold cuts raw milk cheeses and Tuscan crostini. I got myself a latte. We actually seen this in
Rome and I don't think I mentioned it here but a lot of places do espresso so you basically go
into a coffee shop you get your espresso you drink it and you leave you don't sit down enjoy
your coffee. I have to admit I do prefer to sit down enjoy a big coffee and take it all in than
shotting an espresso but when you're on the go it is really handy but I've noticed the
are a lot smaller the cappuccinos and everything to England in general but still delicious. Cold
cuts and raw milk cheeses has come out we have a few different cold cuts on crostini we've got
a little bit of tomato there and I have no idea what this blob is but looks very tasty it kind
of looks like a beef pate paste on a semolina style like bread oh mushroom I'm going to smell
mushroom actually I don't know that's really good it's like a mushroom pate I think on like
semolina flour squishy bread and it's warm so this cheese here it's like squishy so this is
a raw milk cheeses it's basically like babybel it tastes exactly like babybel it's really nice though
this one right here is pretty interesting it's on a crispy crostini base but it looks really fatty
it looks like it's pretty much all fat and it's very very salty actually these mushroom pizzas
come out and that actually looks amazing and as we're walking down these streets but look at the
buildings up above how nice do they look you can also rent a scooter for 10 euros I have noticed
everywhere is Italian leather bag shops and when you walk past them they have a really strong smell
of that Italian leather you can really smell them as you walk by them oh this one's getting
out this makes me so happy they have all types of different bags and the smell in here is so strong
smells like really strong leather you also have some proper leather purses as well these are 15
euros on offer that's not bad for 15 I might have to get something like this they have little tiny
purses as well all different colors but make sure you do your shopping around because they're
literally dotted everywhere so try and get the best price there's another one just directly
over the road and we've seen tons so far oh I like these ones 55 euros they're pretty much the same
in each one are we in Japan or something because there's suddenly a little tiny area with loads of
vending machines in what on earth cafe americano how cool is this they're honestly on this small
street alone above four of these souvenir leather shops check this out down this little side street
it's really quiet down here look at this old fiat 500 it looks like my car that's so cute
looks like we're coming up to a really pretty square up here wow there's a big open piazza
and a market going on with this beautiful building with paintings seems like it's an antiques market
over here which is really cool I wish I had some more cabin space because I bet you could get
some really good antiques you can see where the fresco has faded over time but imagine how
colorful and bright this would be when the fresco was first painted it's all all over here as well
you can see it's worn off and there's like a clock in the center there but it has all worn but you can
just about make out the painting and this one's really impressive look at all the intricate
details on this how come we don't do anything like this anymore
this trip this vibe is exactly what I kind of was hoping for like the beautiful old architecture
some frescoes on the wall fountains but I love it I love just exploring all the side streets I think
as well it's really nice just not having a set to-do list I feel like the first time you go to
Rome you have to go and do all those spots but here all the winding streets we're just like
exploring and everywhere looks beautiful
oh how beautiful is this little square oh my gosh it's so pretty I can't stop taking
photos of everything and there's more leather and souvenir shops look at these old-fashioned lamps
I'm guessing they used to be oil lamps back in the day but this
is slightly rusted but it's still really impressive
I got myself a cafe latte again it looks so nice I like how it's served in a glass
cheers everyone so apparently this is one of the best rated gelatos in Pisa and that
is where we have come to all the side treats here are so good I just want to explore them all
look at this place selling like doughnuts and stuff in here oh that looks so cool look he's
poking it fresh oh my god look he's poking the hole in it and then he's gonna fill it
with jam yeah should we try the lemon or quince bueno for a rocher
it's got all different flavours and it's just like a doughnut shop
wow all right oh it's so fresh and soft oh pistachio cream okay
oh it's really light it's not dense it's not a really dense doughnut it's really light and
and then they stuffed it with pistachio cream we're now at the river and
this view is incredible there's also another market going on but it's so beautiful here I love it
wow so just as we cross here we're at the river and both sides have these beautiful buildings
all lined in it ah the sun has finally come out as well I think we're gonna have a stroll
down the river I wonder if they do little boat cruises down here because it would be so nice
to do a little boat across the river I wonder if we'll see any we did that in Slovenia if you
haven't watched our Slovenia vlogs we went to Ljubljana which gives me the same sort of vibe
with the three famous bridges of Ljubljana definitely go check that out we started in
Austria went to Lake Bled, Ljubljana it was amazing I highly recommend checking that series
out I actually did really bad on my channel but it was one of my favourite trips that I've done
wow there's a church just on the riverbed over here they're everywhere we're just literally
exploring all the little tiny side streets everywhere looks so pretty I love it I've
just spotted a really nice rose plant down here look how nice these are so just where this
beautiful rose bush is I think this is park I think it's open it says no dogs so oh wow
I think you're allowed we found like a little quiet spot this is so beautiful oh my gosh there's
some yellow roses as well a beautiful community park area just tucked away in this like quiet
street this is why I love exploring the streets this park is so beautiful and literally we just
stumbled upon it when we were walking and it's got these benches you can just sit in and enjoy
this little courtyard with all the plants and the roses and flowers it's so pretty
wow it's so peaceful and beautiful here
like seats like this but behind me where the yellow roses are it's like a stage
so they could like have a little performance on there because we've got like all the benches
ah so beautiful here I'm glad we've just walked around and stumbled upon this
and there's like hardly anyone here it's amazing I love seeing all the classic cars
everywhere these are great I want one I can hear some classic music coming from this
place I actually really love it just stumbled upon this little square with a coffee shop
and there's a little merry-go-round over there I think we're going to stop for a drink we've got
a bunch of cocktails got Japanese iced tea vodka gin rum Midori lemon sugar and lemon soda oh my
gosh I think I'm gonna have to try that one thing we've all noticed by being here in Italy is that
every time we go to the toilet there's no toilet seats on this is what I mean by no toilet really
very strange so like the toilet seat has been taken off I have no idea why like most places
we've been to the toilet seat has been taken off the toilet so it's just like the bowl at the bottom
does anyone know why please let me know in the comments anyway I've ordered a Japanese iced tea
and these have ordered a Cubano which sounds delicious oh our drinks have come so this is
the Japanese iced tea that is the Cubano and they also brought out some crisps and nuts cheers everyone
we just sat this little crossroads over here look how beautiful the buildings are
and there seems to be another little market going on oh it's like cds look at this vinyl and just
like that we're back at the river oh we're back in this square but it looks very pretty
the sun shining on it will always look pretty anyway but ah the weather's lovely now
this is so cute decided to make a meal back in the room so I'm getting some salad and maybe
getting some steak or something I think we decided for chicken Caesar salad for tea using
some parmesan ham ah there she is during the sunset very very pretty this is we're walking
back through the gardens so I've noticed people are actually sat on the grass this time
it must only be that section you're not allowed to sit on but you could have a little picnic here
so just behind me there is the big gates where we're going to the Italian Tower of Pisa
just behind here is a big market we've got pan-fried chicken with butter herbs and garlic
and salad and our parmesan cheese all right we just enjoyed a lovely meal and we're going to
call it a day today we're heading tomorrow to a small walled city about 40 minutes away bus ride
from Pisa called Lucca and I'm really really excited to go and try that out we have been
blown away by Pisa I'll see you in next week's vlog when we will be heading to Lucca I'll see
you then bye
