Right, we've got a special video here. I'm here with Ade Oladipo, but we need it.
Good pronunciation.
Is that good?
I like that. That's a solid 7 out of 10.
7 out of 10? How do I get it better?
Tell me.
You would have to do an African accent to get better.
Ade.
Oladipo.
Ade Oladipo.
Close. Nine.
Nine. All right.
Before we start, you need a pool nickname. Mine's Box Office.
Ade, the ladies love Oladipo.
Perfect.
Ade, the ladies love Oladipo.
I love it. Let's go.
It's not true, but it is what it is.
Right, you can break.
All right.
Now, this is your first pool event.
My first pool event, and they've obviously told me to come to the World Champs.
It's not a small hall show in Telford. They've asked me to come for the real deal.
So you know how to break then. You've been watching a lot.
I've been watching a bit, but I haven't played on a table like, what is this?
This weighs like nothing. I'm used to those heavy...
This is really light.
Right, we're going to give it a go.
Just whack it as hard as you can. You've got a lot of muscle.
That's not bad.
Right, there we go.
Was that one? One in straight away?
Yeah, you're on the blue too.
All right. Let's do this.
Then the red three. You know the colours. Do you know the colours?
Yeah.
Ish?
Yeah. I was hoping for a golden break just so I could end this video right now and go.
No pressure. Fedor Gorski's watching, bro.
Is he?
Oh, that's not bad.
Well, you played safe.
You made it, Fedor. That would have been it. I would have packed up my bags and gone.
Adi, tell me about the pool. You enjoyed it?
I'm loving it. Loving it, honestly.
I've been around.
Who's your favourite player?
Fedor. Is he here? Easily.
But it's true though. Ask Fedor. Fedor, did I not message you today and say good luck?
There you go, I messaged you.
You told me it was Johan Tewa.
Tewa and Fedor.
But no, honestly, it's been incredible just to be here.
And some of the games. How are you playing safe?
Just one second, sorry. How's he playing safety with me? What are you doing?
I can't afford to lose this.
What is this? Incredible.
I wanted to see what you're kicking games like.
Incredible.
About here.
Yeah.
Somewhere there.
About here.
Bit of side?
Yeah, a little bit of right-hand side.
Oh, you've got to hit that ball hard though.
That's actually a foul, but I'm not going to take it.
Do you know why that's a foul?
No, why is that a foul? What are you talking about?
After contact, you must hit a rail.
I ain't going to take it though, you're safe.
Jeez, it's not easy, is it, eh?
I better wait for Fedor.
It's not easy. Not easy stuff.
I'm going to let him off though.
And by the way, the four finalists, so the four semi-finalists, surprised?
No, not really.
No?
Eklund Caci was on my one-to-watch list.
Obviously, Fedor's won it before. He's the Masters champ.
He got to the final in the US Open as well.
So he's in the semis here.
Imagine if Fedor wins the World's, he'll win the Masters,
the World's, and then the US Open's in two or three months' time.
He could hold all three.
And he'll be one of the favourites for that as well, right?
And obviously, Johan Ture, you know, you're a big fan of Johan Ture.
Everyone who watches him for the first time, just his style of play.
Can you tell your viewers what he said when he was walking around the table?
Yeah.
Against, was it Lettner?
He's played Max, right?
Against Lettner, he was saying, I come from poverty, this is not pressure.
This is not pressure.
So he's got six balls on the table, and he's literally going around saying,
I come from poverty, this is not pressure.
Yeah, that's pretty wild, right?
That's wild.
It's like inspiring.
It's wild.
All right, let's see what you've got.
Not a lot.
That's why I'm in the cup box.
That's why you're...
Oh, that goes.
Look at that.
That goes.
Lovely.
Then should just finish up lovely on the right.
If I pop this, that's it.
If I pop this, it's game over.
Okay, that's a strong start.
I'm in game over until I leave the game.
To be fair, Adi, you've got an all right cue, actually.
You must have played a little bit at some point.
A little bit.
I think everyone...
I take it like, obviously your nickname,
you've been playing a lot of the ladies on the first date at pool.
Is that where it's come from?
First date, yeah.
First date, pool house.
It's a cheap date as well, isn't it?
Yeah, it's cheap.
It's getting more expensive now, pool houses.
When I was a young man, £10 all day.
How does the date end?
On the table?
In an ideal world.
Right, you're kicking at the three.
Hit it a bit harder though.
You've got to make something happen.
So just so I understand then, rules.
Go ahead.
So I dump, dump.
So I hit the rail.
Yeah, you want to be about here.
But hit it pretty hard.
Okay.
I lied to you.
Right, Addy, talk to me about boxing.
That's where you come from, right?
Yeah.
That's the day job, right?
That's the day job, boxing.
A bit of boxing for DAZN.
A bit of football for TalkSport.
But I'd say 80% of the time, it's DAZN.
So obviously, a couple of big events recently here in Saudi Arabia.
So you've been in Saudi a while?
I've been in Saudi, yeah.
I was in Riyadh a couple of weeks ago.
We were there for...
5v5.
5v5, there you go.
You know a bit more than I do.
5v5.
So Matrim versus Queensbury.
Was it good?
Fun.
Honestly, fun.
Fantastic event.
Fantastic.
I didn't watch any of it.
And I just thought it was just like boxer versus boxer.
He wins.
But Bayaka.
Yeah.
The boxer.
Yeah.
I've seen the YouTube thing.
And he said something like being a bit like the Ryder Cup.
What was it?
It is a bit like the Ryder Cup because...
So Eddie Hearn picked his best five fighters from Matrim.
Okay, he's starting to play a bit now.
Starting to play a bit.
Eddie Hearn picked his best five fighters from Matrim.
Yeah.
Frank Warren picked his best five fighters from Queensbury.
The winning team got a bonus of $3 million.
What?
So crazy money in the sport at the moment.
Especially over here in Selma.
That is wild, right?
But yeah, so I've been doing a bit of that for a few years.
I think for a broadcaster in the UK, you want to do a bit of football as well.
So I've been doing some football for TalkSport, which is nice.
So I've been mixing the boxing and football.
And then they wrote me in to do some pool.
Which team do you support?
Liverpool.
Most important thing in my life.
You can probably tell by the accent.
I was a Liverpool fan when I was a kid.
How can you even think you were a Liverpool fan when you were a kid?
I just sort of grew out of love for football.
I don't even know why.
I used to love it as a child.
No, I love it.
I'm obsessed with it.
Wait, wait.
I'm seeing you do this.
Why is he not still playing?
I'm a bit confused.
I was under pressure, bro, this first rack.
Yeah, yeah.
How can we relax a little bit now?
Okay.
It's only...
Still early.
It's first to two.
Right.
1-0.
I'm going to break.
I'm going to break powerful, actually.
You know what scares me about what I just saw you do?
What?
It looked like you could have torn the cloth.
You went so low on the cue.
Well, you sort of go like this.
And then upon impact, you're like that.
Do you get what I mean?
And why do I do that?
Just to generate power.
What's a controller?
Yeah.
And you go a bit up the cue.
And then it's like this snap sort of thing.
Can I ask you one more question?
Go ahead.
Why do the players all do that before?
Because it looks a bit suspect.
It's like years of practice.
Yeah, it's just sort of like...
And a lot of players do it to build themselves up for the shot.
I don't know.
Not like a nervous thing, but maybe...
You know what I mean?
Okay.
It's almost like the golf swing.
Yeah.
Oh, that's gone wrong, bro.
Very.
So what's the reason you've kind of not played as much anymore?
You're saying I should still play?
Yes, 100%.
To be fair, when I was playing,
Mattroom only had three tournaments.
And they wasn't doing what they're trying to do now.
Build the game, the sport.
Yeah.
So I just had enough.
But now, obviously, a bit more money.
Yeah, but you know what it's like, TV.
You either do that or you play pool.
Would you prefer?
I sort of liked both.
But the TV world, as you know better than anybody...
It's a cool thing to be involved in, right?
I enjoy it.
And I don't feel like there's any pressure.
You trying to putt the eight?
No, I'm trying to just go and stand right behind the black.
No pressure, but Fedor's watching this.
Ay-yi-yi.
Thoughts, Fedor?
Good or bad?
Give me two years, Fedor.
Two years.
Sorry, sorry.
It's all right.
I can't keep playing safe on you, can I?
I'll try and kick it in there.
Kick it in here.
So you've enjoyed the week?
No, it's been an incredible week.
I've been fortunate to jump in on what is the biggest tournament of the year.
Obviously, the US and the Moscone, but this is the big one, right?
To jump in on this.
And you guys have helped me.
Look, you know my knowledge of pool isn't vast.
So for you guys to help me...
What's going on?
One second.
Why is he continually doing snookers?
No, that was pure luck.
You got to come off here, though.
Yeah.
But it's a bit hard.
Get the muscles on the job.
Come on.
Don't be scared of hitting it.
A little bit of right spin.
That's it.
You actually cue pretty good, had you?
Honestly.
I've never...
No, honestly.
Some of the people, they just can't even hit the cue ball.
But you stand all right.
You look the part.
This is so good.
By the way, we're doing this in between a semi-final happening right now.
Right, here's your big chance.
You can pop this down the rail.
No, you're good.
What surprised you the most this week?
Coming straight into the pool.
Before this event, had you ever seen it on TV?
Never.
Never?
No, no.
That's a lie.
I didn't understand the difference between 8-ball, 10-ball, 9-ball.
So I've seen a bit of 8-ball, obviously.
But not really much of 9-ball.
I found out about you because of watching Stephen Henry's channel.
Oh, OK.
Yeah, looks a bit different.
Yeah, I was drunk the night before and all.
Should never have filmed that.
So I think the amount of people that could win this tournament surprised me.
Yeah, when you watch Snooker, I feel like I know it's going to be Ronnie,
Jod, probably Robertson, and a couple more that go into it.
With this, honestly, it genuinely isn't 30-40.
It's crazy.
What I've found is that we always feel like it is,
but then usually come the end of the event,
the person stood there with the trophy, he's one of the top players.
Oh, he's fluked it on me.
Come on, give me something.
I'm taking this.
Oh, we're going to definitely cut that out of the video.
I'm taking that.
Right, pink four next.
Are you surprised on the pockets, or do you still think they're big?
They're not as big as my little pool house.
They're way bigger than, obviously, Snooker ones.
But this isn't easy, is it?
No, it's not easy.
People think it's easy.
I'll try and put it in here.
If you...
Honest, if you were to have entered this tournament,
do you think you would have won a game?
Yeah, yeah.
I could have gone deep.
Obviously, the draw...
I could have easily got to, like, final 16 quarters.
Yeah, depending on the draw and stuff.
But at the same time, you could get a tricky draw like Beardo did.
He went two and out.
So it just depends.
You know what I mean?
I played the UK Open, like, four weeks ago.
Me and Jeremy entered last minute.
We did a last longer bet.
Whoever got the furthest had to pay the other dude 100.
And I got to the round before...
Yeah, he beat me.
But the very first round, I beat Konrad Nischowszyn,
who's one of the top Polish players.
So you still got it?
Still got it, bro.
Are you shocked that Jason Shaw's still not here?
Well, I mean, obviously, he was so distraught that he lost.
No, I'm saying he's shocked that he's out.
Oh, I see what you mean.
Come on, focus.
I think you can knock this one in.
Oh, he has drilled it in.
What a poke that is.
And he's got position.
Please tell me you got that.
That was a sweet shot, to be fair.
You drilled it in.
Emily, you're missing some magic on this table, you know.
You're missing some magic.
This is a little tougher, though.
Cueing off the rail.
I feel like I'm in the comm box.
I did.
Because it looks like I'm going to win this rack while I'm clearing the table.
Tell me how you got into presenting.
Because I always find it fascinating how people get involved.
Yeah, so many different routes nowadays, right?
You don't have to just go to school to be a journalist.
I had a normal job, housing officer, Islington Council.
Was there for like eight, nine years.
Me and a friend had a YouTube channel.
As Emily Fraser, CEO of Natural Multisport, steps into the shop.
Me and my friend had a YouTube channel talking about boxing.
And one of those Sky channels.
It was called Arise News at the time, Sky Channel 491 or something.
Asked me to pop down and talk about Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor.
And I went down.
The director at the time said I could do this professionally.
I was like, are you crazy?
I've got a job.
I'm a housing officer.
And then I got a regular little slot on that show twice a week.
Talking about all sports.
And then about six months later, I quit my job and just thought, let's go for it.
That's sweet, though.
Let's go for it.
Now you're here with me.
I love the way you're spanking me and I'm giving you nice stories about myself.
I know.
Listen, when Emily first started, I was a favourite pool player.
That's why she's come to watch.
Oh, fair, fair, fair.
I'm going to break in this one.
You break, yeah.
Come on.
You know, I got a job for a company in South Africa.
I know it's random, but a company called Kwesi Sports in South Africa.
Yeah.
Did you?
So I used to do their boxing every month.
They used to do boxing all over.
And once I got that gig, I thought, wait a minute.
They're giving me a gig.
It's regular money, regular income.
Let's do it.
So that was the one, really.
That was the big one.
And then, obviously, the zone and talk sport took up another level.
See what your break's like.
Can I break anywhere with it?
So can I bring it back a bit?
No, it's got to be in the box, right?
Yeah, but in this box.
You've only been here six days, bruv.
Can I do that, then?
Can I do that?
Yeah, you can do that.
Oh, OK, cool.
As long as it's in the box, that's fine.
Why does no one do that, though?
Yeah, why do they all...
Zielinski had a stage of doing that off the rail,
but people just prefer it off the hand.
Right, last rack.
Last rack.
It's all right, I'll let him off.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Right, 2-0, Addy.
Come on, last rack.
Sorry, Fred, I'm sorry.
Injured, injured.
He's got a semi-final.
He's my player as well.
Oh my god, he took his leg out.
Can you play him?
You can, can't you, though?
It's so difficult.
I hope everyone at home watching
appreciates how difficult this is.
Yeah, Addy's just nearly killed all our players.
And this is bigger than your average pool table
that you see in bars.
By the way, yeah, I just nearly injured Fred.
He's got a semi-final coming up in about an hour.
Oh, play the world.
Will you enter anything coming up?
Emily won't let me.
I tried to get in this last minute,
but she was being mean.
You're so good.
It'd be a great story.
You're so good still, though.
I'm going to go Q-skill.
I'm going Q-skill.
We've got that pot on camera, haven't we?
The one, yeah.
Oh no, I've overdone that.
That's a bad position, a bad position.
He meant it to go to the bottom.
This is quite tough.
Wait, wait, so if I pot this, I won?
That's nine ball, Addy.
Big chance.
Play the bank, bro.
This pocket.
Yeah, try and watch Fedor's leg, please.
You don't have to hit it too hard, just medium.
Addy, that is the perfect place to end the video.
What a shot.
Do you know what that's called, what you just did?
Bank.
Yes, that's the swing.
What a legend.
