And so the moment is at hand. La Roja, three lions on behalf of 50 million Spaniards
from the Pyrenees to the Gulf of Cadiz, 60 million English folk from the Cornish coast
to the Cheviot hills and in front of billions more the world over on a fine benign Berlin night
to become this continent's champion nation. Well it is the Spanish 11 you would have anticipated
that is to say that Danny Carvajal and Robin Le Normand both suspended for the semi-final
return to the back four now. Otherwise universal regret of course at the absence of Petri
injured in the quarterfinal and relief for the confirmed fitness of Alvaro Morata
freakishly hurt in Tuesday night's Munich celebrations. He wins his 80th cap. Laminia
Mall turned 17 yesterday. How good will he be when he reaches adulthood? And on the
England and Gara Southgate do make their most disgust adjustment of all. Left-footed Luke
Shaw is in for Kieran Trippier at left wing back. 21 weeks since last he started any game.
There's a 90th cap for Kyle Walker, a 40th for Bukayo Saka and the architect and scorer of the
semi-final winner Colt Palmer and Ollie Watkins must both wait their moments again. Six of the
including Shaw who scored also started the final at Wembley three years ago. So Spain again or
England at last. Here's where we find out. Kicked away by Stones could be retrieved here by Williams.
Williams to the near post and it's squint behind a little nervously by John Stones.
Williams. That's a really important block.
Williams with the corner. It's a deep one.
It's uh ultimately turned behind by Le Normand. Yeah post. I think it's Rodri isn't it? Hits it
down into an area. It was difficult for Le Normand to control that. Main is ahead of Saka.
Walker's wide of him and Walker can fling it in and Laporte has watched it behind.
Not the first time they've managed to break the Spanish lines and that's what allowed Bellingham
to switch the ball. Get it out to Saka. Brilliant overlap from Kyle Walker.
Again it's well defended. It's good positional play from Aymeric Laporte.
Mainu Kane. Harry Kane. Slithered as he sought to play the pass. Chased his own touch at his foot.
This is something that's coming into football particularly this season where a player stretches
as the ball's getting away from him. They get their foot on the ball
but the follow-through. Recycled by Rodri. Taken up from right back by Carvajal.
Fabio Ruiz whose shot is deflected kindly for Pickford.
I think that's going to go down as the first shot on target in the game.
Once again it's comfortable. Spain. All the possession. Most of the territory. Back by Rodri.
Taken up by Olmo who is penalized. The yellow card is out again. The referee deems it was
a little bit on the dangerous side as he deemed the Harry Kane challenge a few minutes ago.
Oh he does catch Declan Rice in the midriff with his studs.
I understand why that's a painful one for the England midfield.
Pounced upon by Bellingham and set here for Harry Kane who ran out of space but Walker will be
there first. Williams helped him over. England have a free kick. Well he may be very very senior
Kyle Walker to Nico Williams but pace is just phenomenal. It's Declan Rice.
Oh it's flashed back across the face by Phil Foden. I think Simon is glad to wrap it up.
He gets a really good connection on it as well. On the stretch Phil Foden.
Simon happy. It's straight at him. That's England's first shot on target.
So we welcome you back to the Olympia Stadion Berlin with interesting news.
Spain who enjoyed the lion's share of possession against the three lions
in the first half are making an alteration here.
You see before you Martin Zubimendi and he is replacing Rodri in midfield. And Tom Goodman
one can only assume that that is because Rodri is carrying some sort of an injury because
whilst he's being replaced he is in a sense irreplaceable. Yes you're absolutely right.
The other thing to focus on was if you're Spain as well is to up the tempo.
Wow it's like they've caught England cold. Harry Kane trying to pick his team up.
But what a start to the second half. We were just saying what a blow it was going to be
to lose Rodri. They weren't having any of it straight on the front foot. Spoke about more
tempo. More urgency. And that's what this is all about. A lovely little flick inside from Carvajal.
Sets Lemini a mile away. And I'm not really sure if he's trying to pick out Dani Olmo.
Certainly the ball goes behind him. And Nico Williams. He keeps it hard. He keeps it low.
That's what makes it difficult for a goalkeeper. It's a smart finish. Spain have got that all
important first goal. Carvajal. It's come again to Nico Williams. And Williams for Olmo.
Big chance. And if anybody that you wanted this to fall to in the Spain team
it would be Dani Olmo. He has been outstanding in his finishing.
Just pulls the ball. Drags it. You see here the technique. Drags it wide. It's a let off for England.
Morata. This would be bending.
Stokes had hold. You can expect to be booked for that. Rice had no way out. Carvajal.
Morata. It has to pass the ball out to Nico Williams.
Williams in acres of space. Left hand side.
Rice with a weakness clearance. Ruiz. Williams. Nico Williams.
He nailed that. Yeah. All the shots at goal. Coming on the England goal. Lots and lots of power.
He may still get to lift the trophy. But if he is to do so he is relying on others. On friends.
Perhaps on Olly Watkins.
Came up with the ball. Saka. England supporters lifted. Bellingham. Beautiful turn. It's Jude
Bellingham. Capable of a moment. And that's what several England players are. None really more so
than Jude Bellingham. It's a brilliant turn. Just can't quite wrap his foot around it. You can see
there Danny Carvajal takes a terrible knee in the face. Bellingham's trying to bend that. Doesn't
really get it. Correa. Olmo. Yamal's on his way. Lamine Yamal. Brilliant save. That is a terrific
reaction from Jordan Pickford. He may well just have kept England in this tie. Brilliant, incisive,
fast, direct football from Spain. And he doesn't do anything wrong.
Lamine Yamal. This is going into the bottom corner. It's a brilliant save.
Morata may have not really had any goal scoring opportunities but he's led the line well.
Made some intelligent runs and kept those England defenders really occupied.
Flashed across goal and away by Gehi and then Mainu. And now Ruiz. It's hard.
So again they do now for Kobi Mainu who without question can hold his head up high.
And now here's Palmer. And now here's Saka. And Watkins is through the middle.
And Foden is galloping too.
Makaio Saka. Bellingham. Smashing hit. Smashing goal. We spoke about the moments that England
have had in this tournament. The goals. Stunning goals that they've needed to drag themselves
back. Is this the next one on an ever-increasing list? It's a brilliant finish. It really has
almost come out of nowhere for England. But it's the way they've lived this tournament.
Saka is on side and is able to drive that Spanish defence and pick out a really clever pass.
One touch back by Bellingham. Cole Palmer passes it. Passes it into the corner of the net.
Oh it's not Un Yemine Lamar like is it really? It's a brilliant finish.
And they may not deserve it England. They are right back in this.
That is a gorgeous goal for Gareth. And for the tens of thousands who've hopped over the North Sea
in the hope of seeing England do something special. Palmer stopped by Super Mendy.
Williams could advance. Ko Williams. Dani Olmo. Williams. Dani Olmo. Picked from Paris.
Ruiz. Olmo. Cucurrea. Belling. Ouch. And Spain have played beautiful football at times and
incisive. And when they have they've caused England problems. But to me they look like
they've got more energy. I can see some tired English players as we mentioned earlier.
Spain had a day more rest. And it may be telling in these closing stages. A burst from Cucurrea
is outstanding. And then it's the delivery. The timing of the run.
And they get everything right. Look at Cucurrea. Top of your picture.
He's off and he's on. Ayotabal passes it out to him. Oh and it's going to be tight. It's going
to be tight. Very very close. It's a brilliant finish. Are England going to get a reprieve?
Palmer flings it in. And Rice arrives with an extraordinary block. Well the first save is good.
And then it's Olmo on the line. Falls back to Declan Rice. He can't keep the ball down.
And is that the moment which is going to see Spain crowned European champions?
Spain champions of Europe yet again. A best team won it. Once more this zestful football nation
has come to the party and danced the most beautiful dance. They are show business.
They're young. They're fresh. They're free. They're champions. And England are crestfallen.
Played 7-1-7. The beautiful smile of youth. The beautiful football of this Iberian nation
which has decorated the tournament and which now has won the tournament.
