2021 Fidélitas Estate Red Wine

All right, this is our 2021 vintage estate vineyard red wine. So this is
the only Bordeaux style blend that we make out of the estate vineyard.
It is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
It gets fermented in three different types of oak fermentation that we do,
both tank and barrel. And it's aged in about 70% new French oak.
So this is really a showcase of the newer plant in the estate vineyard,
2015. So newer, but has had a little bit of vine age on it now. And I think it just keeps getting
better and better every year as this vineyard matures. It's a left bank-ish Bordeaux style
blend, but it has quite a bit of Petit Verdot in there, which I think adds a lot of weight and
structure to this wine. I think blends are so fun because we get to play with the balance in the
wine using all these different varietals to add tannin, to add freshness, to add where it hits
all different parts of your palate. So this wine, if you love blends and you love all those
different things I'm describing, it's definitely for you. This is showing really good balance in
that it's super powerful and dense, but at the same time, there's this nice polished tannin
structure to it, which has really amazing up front bright red fruit to it, which I'm guessing
a lot is from the Merlot because I just tasted the Merlot on its own and saw the same characteristics.
The Petit Verdot is adding this nice structure to the wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon is kind of
carrying the whole load of this wine with it being 50% of this and gives it a nice long finish.
And then I think the Cabernet Franc, I'm getting a lot in the aroma of this wine
with some nice floral notes, some dried sage notes. But overall, I think the most well-balanced,
well-rounded wine that I've tasted out of the Estée Vineyard so far. Cheers!
