Fitness challenge the a marin pull-up fitness test!
#fitness #fitnesschallenge #workout
Hello everyone.
In the video you're about to watch, I'm going to take the U.S. Marines fitness test.
So Marines are required to take this test semi-annually and are required to pass and
I thought it'd be super fun if I could try it out and it's super fun to see if I'm fit
enough to join the Marines.
So the test, it's divided into three segments with three different activities.
The first is pull-ups.
You have to do a minimum of four to five and a maximum of 20 to 23 depending on your
age.
The next exercise relates to core.
So you have the choice between doing sit-ups or doing a plank.
I did sit-ups and for sit-ups you have to do at least 70 and a maximum of anywhere from
105 to 115 again depending on your age.
Final activity is a three mile run and you have to do this with a maximum time.
So the fastest you can go is 18 minutes and at least with a minimum of 28 minutes.
So I'm super excited to do this and let's go do it right now.
So here we go.
I jump onto the bar and get at it.
So my current pull-up max which I did in a video which I'll link right above here is
23.
However, the Marines emphasize perfect form.
So my chin goes fully above the bar in every rep and my arms fully lock out at the bottom.
So I'm still going one set.
I'm still going strong and then right about now I'm going to stop one set and I'm going
to go into fast singles with the rest at the bottom.
The Marines don't give a time limit so I'm allowed to rest as much as I want in the dead
hang on the bottom which makes it a lot easier and allows me to get in a couple extra reps
at the end here.
Just a couple more left in me now.
I'm really straining and can I get one more in?
Let's see.
There we go.
I get that last one and that is exactly 20 pull-ups down.
So now I'm going to get going on the sit-ups.
I went right into it.
I only had about a five minute break.
So I'm going really fast right off the bat, arms crossed on the chest as the Marines do
and I have a towel so I don't rub against the deck.
And I'm just pretty easy just repping them out.
But you'll see a point here in a minute or so when it gets very very challenging.
I don't really know what happened but I swear it went from this speed right now where it
was super easy.
I was doing 10, 20, 30, 40 no problem and then it got to a point where I just couldn't
go as fast anymore.
My abs wouldn't lift me and I started slowing down drastically.
So you'll see someone is holding my feet here.
That is also allowed.
The Marines normally have it where a buddy has locked their arms around your calves to
hold you.
So you see it's getting, as I said, it's getting a lot harder right now.
I'm starting to slow down and then again here you look I'm straining a lot more now.
I'm starting to use my body weight which I shouldn't be and I'm seriously working right now.
And here I was sort of just like what just happened because I just did 50, 50 something
reps and then this happened and now I'm just barely struggling on every single rep.
But I worked through it.
I went as fast as I could.
Not much time left in the two minutes that they give you to do as many reps as you can.
So I'm really pulling now.
Not great form anymore but there you go.
See I'm really straining here.
Not pretty.
Only a couple more to go now.
There we go.
Last one right there.
So that was 73 reps.
Now if you remember the minimum is 70 so I really cut it close there.
So the third and final activity after the pull ups and the sit ups is the run.
So due to the current pandemic and me living in a suburban area, I don't feel like I can
run a decent time with a mask on and it wouldn't be socially acceptable.
So therefore I'm not going to run the three mile run.
However, luckily this last year I ran cross country for my school and in the last 5k race
that I ran, I PR'd with a time of 19 minutes and 41 seconds.
So a 5k is 3.2 miles which is just over 3 miles and my time of 19.41 easily qualifies
me to pass the required 28 minutes on the marine three mile run.
So for pull ups I got 20 out of a max score of 23.
On the sit ups I got 73 out of 115 and on the run I got 19 minutes and 41 seconds which
means that I passed.
I could technically qualify to be a marine right now if I was old enough which I'm not.
So make sure to comment what test I should do next whether that's the Navy SEAL test,
the National Guard test even if they have that, the Army test, whatever it may be, let
me know down in the comments.
Also remember to like this video, subscribe for more, and of course thank you so much
for watching.
I'll see you in the next video.
