Hey Finn, is there a funny guy rock around here?
Yeah.
Where is it?
Oh, hi guys.
Hitting the road.
Going on a little road trip in the Sprinter van.
Is this a funny guy farm video?
What are we calling this thing?
Oh, you're so funny.
We just packed all day to go.
Yeah.
On an adventure.
Where are we going?
Camping.
Hitting the road.
We passed inspection and have a couple of days as a family.
Right, Pa?
Yeah.
Passed inspection.
No, someone else is driving now.
Who's driving?
Oh, Scooby's driving.
Alright.
Scooby, take the wheel.
Friday afternoon.
We just picked Sunny Buzz up from school.
Picking up a little coffee and then we're hitting the road.
Got it.
Thank you, Scooby.
Going on a little road trip in the Sprinter van.
I forgot a jack hat.
Mom's got a bob.
When you head out in March, you never know what you're going to get.
31.
Definitely more snow than I thought would be up here.
What do you think of the landscape?
This is the Carson path.
You guys, this is tough driving right here.
But you know what?
Bob's the toughest.
Just arrived.
Only about maybe a three hour drive.
35 degrees out, a little chilly.
Katie's getting Sunny Buzz and Finn.
All situated in the van.
Tucked into their sleeping bags.
And then I'm going to fry us a steak here for Katie and I to have some dinner.
Been coming here to this hot spring.
Camping out here for quite some time.
One of the first trips we ever took.
During the winter time anyways.
Katie and I came out here.
How was your dinner date?
I think it's great.
You really think?
Yeah.
Everyone snuggled up.
Time for night night.
The sound of Pixar.
Or Disney.
Or whatever the monsters are watching.
Night night.
How were you guys last night?
No, I was cold last night.
How were you Bob?
I was snuggly back there.
We got to do some work on this van.
We got to insulate it and get a heater.
But our covers were pretty cool.
Where are you guys going?
Lots of you out there know which one this is.
Bob's making some coffee.
At the hot springs having some coffee.
Enjoying the view.
Pretty chilly out but it's nice and sunny.
And the water's warm.
Who's here?
Was it cold last night?
Yeah.
Look at these two girls in the hot tub.
Hi.
Are you having fun?
Awesome.
It was a chilly sleep last night.
Right there in the old girl.
What are you doing Bob?
Just brushing down Ziggy.
How are you girls doing?
Good.
Hi.
What's your name?
Finn.
How's your adventure so far?
Good.
What's your favorite thing?
Sleeping in the tub and eating the food.
Was that a cool spot to go swimming this morning?
Yeah.
We got onion rings.
We got tater tots.
We got a special drink for you guys to split.
Was someone getting hangry?
Yeah, Bob was getting hangry.
Bob's hungry.
What's the menu?
Get the menu going on.
What are you going to eat first?
Onion ring.
Chicken nugget.
How's the food?
How was your day?
My day was great.
Hanging out with you guys.
Had some coffee.
Now I'm having a tater tot and a cheeseburger.
Not a bad day.
How was your day?
Going camping.
What about you Sunny?
Good.
Now we're searching for coffee.
Like an old caboose in someone's house.
We're looking for a good spot to pull off.
Hopefully it's not too cold.
We came back up in temperature.
It stopped snowing.
It was snowing for the better part of the last couple of hours.
The Sierras were in the foothills.
Are you guys tough?
What happens if you scrape your knee?
You just pick yourself up?
Gorgeous.
Found a spot to camp for the night.
We're up here in the mountains.
It's about 38 degrees out.
Pretty chilly.
We're going to make a fire.
Probably fry up a steak.
Maybe make some mac and cheese for these kiddos.
Watch the stars.
Hang out by the fire.
Get a good night's sleep in the back of the van.
Hey Finny, how you doing?
You gathering some wood?
For a fire?
What a beautiful spot we found here.
Hey sisters.
How's your adventure?
You got some space for your little sister on the rock?
You get up there okay Buzz?
It's nice and cozy in here sisters.
I'm hot.
I can't believe that.
I'm hot in here.
She put her hand warmers in there.
What do you got in there?
Outdoor dad style.
Where'd they go?
They're in your shirt.
Oh my gosh.
They're totally hot.
Do you want some for your pockets?
No, I'm tough enough.
Where'd you learn that trick?
Nowhere.
Who do we watch on YouTube that does it?
Outboys.
Who's your favorite outboy?
Luke.
You like Luke? Outdoor dad?
Actually I like Thomas.
Ah.
Outdoor dad's my hero.
Beautiful camp spot.
Mom found us out here in the mountains.
Can you get me rocks?
Yeah, where's the art box?
In the back?
Got us a nice fire here.
Boiling some water.
Going to make the girls a
cup of noodle.
Got some photographs I'm making
over here.
Got the tripod
and the camera all set up.
Let's see what we got here.
Funny guy farm vacation.
Ziggy, you're a thirsty dog.
What's your name?
Sonny.
Sonny, can you tell me, do you like camping?
Do you love camping?
I'm making a tree.
You're drawing a tree?
Can I see that dog drawing?
What's that dog's name?
Ziggy.
Yeah, and I found her name.
And it's too hot
because I love Ziggy.
Wow.
That's so cool.
You guys want to eat some noodles?
Come sit in the chair if you want noodles.
What's for dinner?
Noodles.
Finn, do you like noodles?
How's the adventure?
Good. I've done two days.
Two days? Camping?
Being a vagabond?
Camping!
Want to go camping in winter?
Yeah.
It's awesome.
You guys are all pretty tough.
Finn, living the dream, huh?
What are you guys watching?
Yoga.
You guys all snuggled up?
Yeah.
And I put my bubble warmer inside of my outfit.
Oh yeah?
Yeah, are you super warm?
She says she's hot.
That's good, I'm watching this thing.
Alright, I love you guys.
Cheers.
Both kids are in bed and asleep and fed.
Good work.
What a day.
It's only 30 degrees out and we're sitting out here
trying to enjoy some time.
I'm freezing, my tote is off.
I'm tired.
I fell over in the camp chair
and I messed up my neck and my shoulder.
Mom got loose.
No, I just was sitting there
and the goddamn chair tipped over.
Everyone snuggled up
in their respected places.
Are we awake?
It's 10 o'clock.
It's like 10.30.
How are my wild women?
Hey Sunny.
What's going on?
Where are you going?
Sunny, do you like it out here?
Huh?
You want to climb the mountain?
Should we climb the mountain, Sunny Buzz?
Yeah.
I was going to make some coffee and try to get some bacon going.
Got a coffee for you, lover.
Just woke up
in the most beautifulest of camp spots here.
Girls are playing.
Finn's doing some art.
I'm doing different art.
Look at that.
So cool.
The key to camping.
Goldfish.
Bacon.
Bacon. Do you want to eat some?
Yeah.
Are you hungry for some bacon?
You want some too?
Who wants bacon?
Are you a bacon monster?
Finn, do you want to climb this mountain behind you?
Do you think we can climb it?
Will you do it with me?
It's only a few miles.
There's a lake up there.
There might be fish in that lake.
Hey, ball, what are you doing?
I'm cooking bacon here. What are you doing?
I just filmed you.
What do you think, Finn?
Good.
What do you think about the mountain?
Bacon's ready.
Bacon is ready, everyone.
This is me standing in front of a huge mountain
eating a piece of bacon.
It's really good.
The mountain and the bacon.
What do you guys think?
Oh, yeah.
Eggs and bacon.
Sitting in the van here.
This kid just took my chair,
which is okay.
Got a nice view of this mountain here.
I think we got everything
packed up, which is
always a fun chore, especially with kids.
Secret is you just put them in
their seats with a movie.
Campsite's looking pretty good.
Boss got his coffee and his medicine.
This is a pretty awesome camp spot.
Got to say, look at these
big mountains right here.
We got our chairs put away.
We got our trash here. Always got to
pack in and pack out everything you bring
so the next person has a nice experience
and nature stays nature.
I think we're going to go
to this Hot Springs place.
They have showers, which is excellent.
We're going to stop for some soap.
Dr. Bronner special.
I think that's it, right Pa?
Any final words at this spot?
Alright.
Here we go.
Driving down the mountain from our
camp spot. Had to stop at this
Smokey the Bear sign because
it's pretty badass.
Stopped for some sandwiches.
Having a little sandwich action
before we go into
the Hot Springs swimming
facility here.
Me what? You ready to go
swimming? Yeah.
Alright, let's do it.
Where do you guys want to go?
Tell us.
You want to go in the warm one first?
Okay, it's over there.
Hey Pa.
Pa Pa.
There's a lot of doggy people.
I'm just going to a sample
and I see you now.
Oh, naughty dog.
What are you doing?
Hi tasty dog.
The old stuff.
The old house.
The old trees.
Pa told me to just hold on for a second
and I just started swimming
with Mom and Pa.
Hey Pa, what are you doing?
Just filming you.
What are you looking at to film?
Mom and Ziggy.
Can you see what you're filming?
Make sure everyone is in your frame.
You don't want to
give a bunch of stuff like this.
You want a good solid picture.
Does that make sense?
Alright, just left the hot spring
swimming pool spot.
Ready to go on an adventure?
One more or do you want to just go home?
Should we go home or should we go out for one more night?
Go out for a night.
One more night.
Hi Ben.
Since 1920, hundreds of movies
and TV episodes including
Gunga Den, How the West was Won,
Khyber Rifles.
That's like the spot.
Fancy seeing you here.
Hi.
Right there.
Set up at our next camp spot.
Finn and I already did a monster hike.
We just scrambled back into the
rock canyons back here.
It's kind of too dark to see now.
Maybe we'll go in the morning.
Hi, no more climbing.
Are you crazy?
Yeah.
Finn and I just did a monster.
Sunny wants to climb.
Finn and I climbed this here. It's not too bad
but it's definitely a thing.
Just right up into the
crevasse into this little area here.
Ziggy kind of went up ahead of us
and then she came back down
and then we climbed up to the top
and we came down the other side
and then Ziggy came running down after us
and she just
climbed up like I don't even know how.
Where are you going Sunny Buzz?
She wants to go this way.
I'll get camp set up.
I love you.
So cool. This is one of my
favorite spots. I've come here a lot
over the years. Usually just for a night.
A night or two maybe.
It's been a couple times I've stayed here
for a couple nights but often times I'll just
pop in, camp out for the night
try and hit the stars
and the alpenglow
on the mountain range in the morning.
Got a nice little spot here.
Going to get camp set up and making
some dinner I guess.
What are you doing over there?
Just cooking.
Stove valve here.
Cooking some food.
Doing whatever
but doing it good.
Get ready.
Got a nice little
cooking spot going on over here.
A little ways away
from our camp spot over here.
Just a short walk
but it's nice to have a
rock to have all this to sit on.
So going to
fry up some bacon to
cook some ground beef in.
Got some water boiling for some
mac and cheese for the kiddos.
Baa's
outdoor kitchen set up. It's pretty good.
His cooking rock.
It's a pretty nice little rock.
And then we got the van back there.
Hey Baa, I was thinking we need a name for our van.
Yeah we do.
What do you think about Latte?
Latte? Latte.
Or is she like stone or like
pumice or...
Here's a tour of our campsite.
We got our cooking set up
here on this big rock.
The base of some huge boulders.
We got these two girls
playing in the sand with their
Barbies and dolls.
Basically just throwing sand at each other.
Alright, made some ground beef
for Katie and I to have
taco piles. Ground beef
with bacon bits.
Me so hungry. I knew they'd love this place.
Then tell Baa about that
rock you saw. Funny eyes
and like...
White eyes on it. Oh yeah?
It looks like a mouth. A funny face?
I'll show you tomorrow. Okay.
Up there.
Behind that rock.
How's everyone's dinner?
Good. Yum. Good job.
How about that swimming pool
we went to? Oh yeah.
Did you guys like the swimming pool?
No? Yes!
What are you doing? Washing the dishes.
Good?
Is that water for it? Yeah.
But it's good to...
Don't waste water
out here. Yeah.
I'll boil fresh water to
rinse everything with after I get
everything washed.
Right? Yeah. Like gunk off.
Yeah.
It's clean. It just needs to be rinsed.
We'll do that in a sec.
Nothing worse than taking
your dishes out of your camp box
to use and they're like grimy.
Yeah, because you didn't clean them last time.
Yeah, they're scuzzy. That's so gross.
We always talk about trying to make a better
system for washing dishes.
But you kind of just
like improvise.
You know?
Yeah, I feel like this morning we didn't have
that many dishes.
And so we literally just
wiped the plates clean with Clorox
Lysol rags
and then wipes
and then we
rinsed them
with hot water.
Boiling water. I think that's good, right?
Got all the dishes cleaned up
from dinner.
Cast iron skillet in this pot
over here. Hey, what's up girl?
Come on.
Who's ready for bed in here?
Good night.
Who's ready for their book?
What's the story time?
Reading the first Harry Potter.
Wow. Hagrid was so
huge that he parted the
crowd easily. All Harry had
to do was keep close behind him.
They passed a book
shop and a magic store.
Hamburger bars and cinemas.
But nowhere that looked as if they could
sell you a magic wand.
Night night time.
Oh Ziggy, you can't
be up here.
You're stinky too.
You're the dog.
I think it's the dog. Could be you.
Well, I didn't let the mosquitoes
in here in the first place. I didn't either.
Wait, you could have
done Boz mosquito
and bug removal.
You know, the strategy.
What's the strategy?
Well, 20 minutes before bedtime, you take
all the lights out of your bed area.
Tent or caravan or whatever else.
You put them somewhere else.
And then you give the
bugs, you know, 10 to 15 minutes
to vacate that space
and go towards where the light now is.
Then you zip up or shut the doors
of that space.
This is the first time you're sharing this strategy.
This is a well-known
thing.
People use
this all around the world.
Someone's snoring.
Yeah, it's Finn. She snores.
Why is Finn such a snorer?
She grinds her teeth and she snores. She's just like me.
Okay, we go to sleep.
Good morning.
Good morning, buddy.
Who woke us up?
Daddy.
How'd you guys sleep?
Good. Did you sleep better than last night?
Yes. Yeah, you guys,
I think this is a good setup.
Did you sleep
better or why is this with you
on this side?
I don't know.
We need coffee.
I'll make it.
Where's the coffee?
And I'll show you that funny rock.
The funny rock? Yes.
We got to camp just at sunset
last night and so it's getting
dark pretty quickly.
We managed to actually go on some hikes
and climb on these rocks.
Finn and I climbed up a little
rocky peak here.
But the kids have been
anxious and dying to...
I found a funny rock.
You found a funny rock? Yeah. You're going to show it to me?
Yeah. Alright, let's go.
Hey Finn, is there a funny guy rock around here?
Yeah. Where is it?
Oh, hi guys.
Welcome to Funny Guy Farm.
Hi ladies.
Hi.
Have you seen Ziggy?
Oh, what are you doing
up there?
Hey Ziggy, what are you doing?
That is far.
I know how to climb that.
He's just watching over it.
I'll climb on that.
I literally know how to climb that.
Good dog.
Come here Ziggy, I got food and water for you.
Come on, come on, come on.
What are you guys doing?
Life essentials.
What do you guys think?
Good. Pretty okay.
I think this is my favorite camp spot.
So far.
You're like tucked in and
it's warmer.
That's how I always think about it.
Make sure I have everything.
I'm always like, okay, I have the beans
and the beans go into the grinder
and I grind the coffee and I dump the coffee
into a paper filter and the paper filter
goes into the metal thing and it sits on top
of the mug and then I need a pot
with water that I can boil on my stove
to make the brew.
Alright.
Let's go check our bacon so it's not
burning over there.
We're right here.
Finn, did you turn the gas
off on the propane?
No. Do you know how to do that?
Is it opposite how we did it before?
Where's the word that says close?
C L O
S E
Good job.
Good work babe.
3, 7,
3, 8,
9, 40.
That's all the way up to 40.
Let's do up to 50.
Then you bring this number down.
Do you just make this?
Do you want to tell me about it?
Let me see it.
1, 2,
3, 4,
5, 6,
7.
Who are these people?
No, no, me,
Sunny, Mom, Ball,
and I have one earring.
It's a drawing of your family.
Because you have one earring.
Wow.
Ziggy having her portrait
made.
Wow. Good job
Ziggy girl.
Good girl.
Show me your portraits.
Here's from the first night.
A little cuddle puddle
on the floor in the van.
Here's the first
hot springs. It was a cold night
so everybody's still bundled up.
Here's
Ball and the girls
in one of the pools.
Ball doing his thing, making coffee.
Back in Camp Spot
outside the fish show.
We saw old Smokey the Bear
sign. I love Smokey.
Two versions.
Hot springs, pool thing.
The girls loved it.
Grocery store had a cool mural.
Last night
the spot that we camped.
There's Ball and Finn outside our
campsite. There's Mom
and Ball camping.
Yeah, packing up.
There's another one
that Finn took.
And then we did a little Ziggy
portrait session.
That's it.
Fun weekend? Yeah.
Okay, here we go.
Get in.
I don't know. What do you think?
It's sort of like the impossible when wet.
Remember we did that in Utah?
We got into a mud pile.
Mom had to stop for a Smokey picture.
Okay, he's so cute.
