So we are all set for the most played rivalry in men's tennis history.
Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic for the 60th time at the Olympics, no less.
Prakash, 30-29, Novak coming in. What are your thoughts?
I have absolutely no expectations for this.
I think it is just going to be it's going to be amazing regardless.
We just we didn't know we were going to get this again.
I think Djokovic had said earlier in this year,
I really hope I get that one more chance to be able to play Rafa.
We didn't know how Rafa was going to look.
Earlier this year, if he could even get to the French.
Now, all of a sudden, he's entered in the U.S. Open.
He's talking about don't even talk about this as my last stance.
He's all of a sudden thinking to the future.
Novak Djokovic is saying, don't talk about this big three era ending
until I'm still playing. I'm not even thinking about retirement.
So who knows what this is going to spur between the two of them?
Let's not forget at the French at Roland Garros, when Rafa was playing,
Djokovic was sitting right there.
He was competing for a grand slam title, but he had to sit there to watch in case.
This was one of Rafa's last matches.
That's how much they mean to each other.
We all know that stakes are high.
Goosebumps, Grace.
Goosebumps to see them both out there.
I mean, how ironic that they play in the second round. Amazing.
But this is a quick turnaround for Rafa after another three setter
did well last week to get to the finals of Bishad,
of Bishad, but lost in the finals.
I'm going to say it is just not quite the same Rafa as we saw two years ago.
Everybody knows that at Roland Garros.
His leg is taped.
That's worrisome to me.
The way that Novak's been playing, getting to the finals of Wimbledon.
I'm just happy that we get to see it.
I hope it's a close match.
That's what I'm hoping for, because it might not be.
Listen, neither one of these guys, I don't believe, is 100 percent
healthy right now, but these are two of the legends of the games.
I mean, it's goat against goat.
They played one time in the Olympics before 2008.
It was the semifinals.
That was the only time Rafa won the gold in singles.
That is what Novak is trying to do,
to really take out every single category in this battle.
Djokovic has said Nadal is easily his most important rival,
his greatest rival throughout his entire career.
I'm sure Nadal feels a great deal about Djokovic as well.
So even if they aren't playing their best tennis right now, Steve,
maybe this is what they need.
This is what they need, a match against each other to be able
to dig a little bit deeper even than they have in the last few months.
Just to fill in, Djokovic has won one bronze, 2008 Beijing.
You're exactly right.
This is the only hole in the resume.
Yeah, listen, whenever we get goats playing each other,
it's a blessing for our sport.
We want to watch it, we want to be there.
Tomorrow morning, it goes down 60th time between Djokovic and Nadal.
