Today we start off our day bright and early at 5:20 am to see the sunset rise from the clear blue water of Indian Head Cove in Bruce Peninsula National Park. It’s our last day here and so continues our trip across Canada. Next, we try to make it to Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world! We screwed up and did not book a ferry from the town of Tobermory to the town o South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island and they are fully booked for the next two weeks! So now we have to drive around the entire Georgian Bay adding 5 extra hours of driving… It was an emotional day to say the least.
Thanks for watching! 😄
We are uploading a new adventure 3 times a week while we travel, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12pm ET!

👩❤️👨US: We met at LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston Ontario and we’ve been together for over 8 years now. Keith comes from a bilingual military family and Devon from a Kingston family full of teachers. We made it through Queen’s University together, where Keith studied Mechanical Engineering and Devon, Concurrent Education and Global Development. Right now we’re travelling across Canada in a Dodge Caravan for the entire month but come January 2022 we have bigger plans in mind. Our goal is to #travel full time, become #selfemployed, and #explore the world while sharing what we’ve learned and capturing our experiences. 🌎✈️📚
Hello.
Good morning.
It's like what, 6.30 something?
It was absolutely wonderful.
I kind of thought we were gonna miss it
or we weren't gonna be able to see it
and then all of a sudden we saw this little orange ball
and bam!
It just came out of nowhere.
It was really beautiful.
And you could actually look at it.
Yeah.
It wasn't too bright.
Mostly, my guess is because of the smoke.
Because of the smoke from the forest fires
in Northern Ontario.
But it was still really cool.
Worth it, so worth it.
A 10 out of 10 sunrise.
Good thinking, girls.
That was the girls' plan.
Yay!
That worked out.
Yeah!
It was so beautiful.
Keith's not really a morning person
but he's been getting up for the sunrises with me
and we do do that often
but it's because they're so beautiful
and it's when you have places to yourself.
So if you're in Bruce Peninsula, come for the sunrise.
We were the only people here for like an hour.
Yeah, it's right there, so it's a good spot.
You can sit on the arch
and the sun will rise exactly in your sight line.
Survived the night.
Let's have breakfast.
One of my fave breakfasts.
I'm very excited.
We're gonna be eating this a lot on the trip.
Mine does not look as good as Devin's
and I already burnt myself too.
I will teach Keith how to make these properly.
I burnt myself, Devin cut herself.
Yeah, we're doing really great on this easy breakfast.
Packing up, hey Keith?
These things do not deflate easily when you try.
They deflate really easily over time when you don't try.
It's wet and dirty.
Good luck, Keith, my man.
What's fun?
We're in the car, we've left Bruce Peninsula
and we have some news.
Yeah, so essentially our plan was to leave from Tobimori,
catch the ferry to Manitoulin Island,
which is the biggest freshwater island in the world,
and then head on over up the Trans-Canada
to Thunder Bay and stuff.
And continue west
because we're driving all the way to BC, as you know.
But we had to book the ferry and we didn't do that.
Yeah, you're supposed to book it in advance.
So tip, if you want to take the ferry,
it needs to be booked well in advance.
Yeah, especially these days.
Like I said, we went and looked
and not even like there's one tomorrow.
We're on the phone in case.
And this is like the fourth time we've done this
to see if we can sort of get a spot
that someone canceled or something.
So because we can't take this ferry,
we can't go to Tobimori, to Manitoulin, to Little Current
and then head on our way to St. Marie.
We have to go around this entire peninsula
in the Georgian Bay to Sudbury or Perry Sound.
Depending on.
Those are our goals of today.
Which is of, additionally, it's an extra five hour drive.
No, but we've had some time to sort of accept this.
But we're on the phone, we never know.
We're gonna keep driving towards our destination
five hours away.
And if we get a good positive phone call,
we'll turn around.
Seven hung up by accident.
It doubled.
Apostrophe H-A-L-L-O-R.
A-N, sorry.
O-R-A-N.
Awesome.
Okay, thank you so, so much.
This is amazing.
I might have talked to you earlier today.
Thank you.
Okay, bye.
We're in!
I'm so happy!
Woo!
That's so good.
I can't believe it.
Wow!
Yay, I'm so happy.
Yay!
But that's not.
Whoa, emotions have switched around.
Devin's day is made.
Yeah.
Like, the sunset did make my morning.
It was incredible.
Devin, how do you?
My day is already made.
How does she do it?
How does she get this?
How does she get so lucky?
You just gotta keep calling.
I mean, I get lucky too,
because I'm with her. Keep calling.
Keep calling.
Wow.
Yay, so don't do what we did,
because otherwise it's a rollercoaster
of frickin' emotions.
Wow.
I can't believe that.
How did you?
How did you land that?
So, now we're parked.
We're in the ferry line.
Woo-hoo!
Yeah, so the ferry line is right here,
and we're first,
because we caught the ferry for five o'clock.
So we're gonna eat some food,
because we're hungry,
and then we're gonna go explore Tobimori.
Hopefully, I'll have a sandwich
next time you see me.
We found a picnic spot,
so we're gonna eat some food.
Wow.
And enjoy the afternoon.
We're still in Tobimori.
It's been a beautiful day,
just walking around,
enjoying this small little town.
It's actually pretty small.
It is really adorable.
It's almost like a small Atlantic village town,
but it's on the Georgian Bay.
Really quaint.
Yeah, it's been beautiful,
and we have about an hour until our ferry,
which we're going to Manitou tonight.
I'm so excited.
Which is huge,
because now we get to chill out today,
versus driving an extra five hours,
and sleeping in a Walmart.
Yeah!
I'm just so happy.
So, it's pretty good.
It's very exciting.
We're just about to get back to our vehicle,
and hop on the ferry.
We had a lovely little visit.
Nice.
The property goes all the way to here.
I love you.
Thank you, Bill and Sarah,
Maggie's parents,
for hosting us briefly,
and for the beer,
and for the nice view.
Lovely house.
I think we're set up.
We got all the tips for which side to sit on.
Oop, this way.
In the ferry.
We're up front,
which is nice.
Hopefully, we can get those seats.
That's all.
Okay, off we go.
Off we go.
Go to our car.
We're on the largest freshwater island in the world.
We just got off the ferry at South Baymouth,
and tomorrow,
we're going to be leaving at Little Current,
which is the other small town on Manitoulin.
Tonight, we're going to go find a secret campsite,
told to us by someone,
so hopefully, we can find it,
and then, hopefully, do a hike tomorrow
before we keep driving across Canada.
So, it's a bit bumpy here.
We've just done five kilometers of dirt road,
and we made it.
It's just us.
I think we're going to sleep well tonight.
Holy, it is so peaceful here.
Now, we're settled in and enjoying this campsite,
and we've finally set up our table,
and it actually looks pretty cute.
Right now, it's in meal prep form.
He's rinsing out some beans.
It's-
Not the most attractive thing.
It's getting kind of dark,
so it's like tricky to see, but-
It's like 9.20 right now.
Yeah, and it's still light out.
But yeah, we're literally just going to throw
everything in the pan and cook it.
All right.
Look at that, Devon.
Cheesy beans.
Now, we're going to add that to a wrap.
You're going to add it to a salad bowl,
and that's dinner.
Yes, you're good.
There we go.
It has been a very long, but very good day.
Like wholly long, but we took naps, both of us,
and we had ups and downs.
We thought we'd have five extra hours of driving,
and we wouldn't make it to Manitoulin,
specifically this spot, but we did.
We almost didn't come here because of construction.
There's like one road to go to this part of the island,
and it's closed because of construction.
It's so great, we're here.
We made it.
Yeah, so thank you very much for watching,
and we hope you enjoyed, really,
the first big, small leg of our adventure.
Yeah, and it continues tomorrow.
Yeah, we'll be back here tomorrow morning.
See you then.
Thanks for watching.
