And now, it's time for some more amazing animals.
Number 1006, the amazing banded mongoose.
Their Latin species name is mungus mungo.
Hey, everyone, mungus mungo.
These adorable little creatures are found in sub-Saharan Africa,
and they spend a lot of time foraging for food.
What's on the menu? I can't see it.
On the menu today, we have millipedes, beetles, ants, termites,
caterpillars, earwigs, eggs, fruit snakes, and tortoises.
Hey, come out. You're surrounded.
I'm not in.
Peter, where'd you put that can opener?
These four-pound little predators make very nice snacks themselves,
so they have to be careful when cruising the African savannah.
Single file, single file.
Living in large groups does help protect them,
but can also create rivalry with other mungoose clans,
and little squabbles can break out.
Right, that's it. We're going to duke it out at dawn.
Oh, but I'm hungry.
OK, well, how about a hug first?
Actually, I'd rather hug a warthog.
Oh, how dare you?
Who happens to be covered in ticks.
Both animals benefit.
The warthog gets a good ticking off,
and the mungoose gets to eat again.
It's a hog-o-land!
Peter's going to be a little bit thinner from now on.
Everyone in the mungoose pack helps look after the pups.
Bye for now, mungo mungoes.
Bye!
They might be painfully cute little furry socks with legs,
but the banded mungoose is really quite an amazing animal.
