Here are the accessories, options, and luggage that I have added to my 2022 BMW F850GS to go on a 2700-mile backroad motorcycle adventure. I rode through water, gravel, mud, clay, dirt, sand, and pretty much every other imaginable surface during this trip. I wanted to be as light as possible and have the right protection for riding on some tricky off-road sections. Let me know if you have any questions, like and subscribe.
2,700 miles of backroads from New York to Florida? How is the bike set up? Well,
I'm going to share that with you, starting right now on Moto Travel USA.
Hey everyone, I recently finished the New York to Florida run riding 2,700 miles of backroads
in all kinds of conditions, and this is how I had the F850GS set up for this adventure.
Now, luggage was a tough decision. I went back and forth many times between hard and soft luggage,
but decided upon the BMW Atacama bags. These are essentially the Moskomoto backcountry bags
and are awesome. They're light, bomb-proof, and they can hold a ton of stuff. They've proven to
be a great solution time and time again. The next piece of luggage is also from Moskomoto.
Now, this thing is great. It's versatile, holds a good amount of stuff, it's built awesome,
and it also converts to a backpack when hiking or for whatever reason. Out of all my luggage,
I probably use this one the most. Highly recommend it. The tires I've decided to go with
are the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires. I've used these tires before. They've run parts of the
Mabder before. I really like them. I really like the way they feel and handle both off-road and on.
I tried the Metos E07 tires last year for the Mabder, but I didn't like the way they felt,
so I'm going back to the Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires this year. For navigation,
I have the Xumo XT mounted above the TFT, and that's hardwired into the bike. For mirrors,
I'm using the Double Take mirrors, which are great. They're made to fold away in case of a
crash. They're easy to put on, adjust, and take off at hotels. To protect the brake and clutch levers,
I have Bark Busters installed. These are well-made and offer a lot of protection for the control.
I'm also using the Touratech Bar Riser to help me get into optimal position when standing while
riding off-road. I've also added the Tractive fork cartridge to add adjustability to the front
fork on the F850GS, which from the factory, it doesn't have adjustability. For crash bars,
I've added the Jeevee crash bars. I used to have the SW Motec crash bars on a 19850,
but I like the little bit of extra protection the Jeevee bars provide for the engine case.
I will also be using the Jeevee skid plate as well. For the shifter, I've added the SW Motec
folding and adjustable shifter. That way, I can adjust it for my boot size, and it folds in case
of a crash, so it doesn't get bent or broken. For the brake, I've added the BMW OEM Enduro brake.
It's adjustable, as you can see here, which helps give it a higher footprint for braking when you're
riding off-road. So, that's how I have the F850GS set up for 2700 miles of off-road and backcountry
riding. Most of this stuff has been put to the test on other trips, but I will be seeing how
the Jeevee crash protection will do for the first time. Well, I just wanted to make a quick video
just to show you how I have the bike set up. If you have any questions about the bike setup
or the trip, put them in the comments below, and I'll be happy to answer them. Make sure to
