Pakistani National with Ties to Iran Charged in Connection with Foiled Plot to
Assassinate a Politician or U.S. Government Official
August 6, 2024, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
AG Garland: The Justice Department has brought
multiple cases against individuals working on
behalf of the Iranian government to lethally target
Americans in the United States.
And as I said last week, we expect that these
threats will continue and that these cases will not
be the last. The Justice Department will spare no
resource to disrupt and hold accountable those
who carry out Iran's lethal plotting against Americans.
Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco Delivers Remarks at the
25th Anniversary Celebration of the Women in Federal Law Enforcement Foundation
August 6, 2024 - Alexandria, VA
DAG Monaco: Because of WIFLE’s persistence in promoting women
in the law enforcement profession, we’ve come a long way.
But there was a time when every federal law enforcement agent in this
nation was a man. Every single one.
And I guess that’s not hard to believe when we hear about experiences
like Nancy McRae’s. But thanks to trailblazers like her
and those we honor today, and WIFLE’s founders,
today there are thousands of women serving in federal law enforcement.
I’m proud to help lead the many of those women in
the Department of Justice who every single day
are fulfilling our mission to uphold the rule of law,
keep our communities safe, and protect civil rights.
Justice Department Statements on the U.S. District Court for the District of
Columbia's Decision in U.S. v Google - August 5, 2024
This victory against Google is an historic win for the American people.
No company — no matter how large or influential — is above the law.
The Justice Department will continue to vigorously enforce our antitrust laws.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland Statement on the 59th
Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act - August 6, 2024
The Justice Department has used and will continue to use every
authority we have to protect the right to vote, and to protect the
public servants who make voting possible. We are aggressively
investigating and prosecuting threats of violence targeting
election workers, officials, and volunteers. While there are many
things open to debate in our country, the right to vote must not
be one of them. The right to vote is the cornerstone of our
democracy, the right from which all others flow. The Justice
Department will never stop working to ensure that every eligible
voter can cast a vote that counts.

Three Additional Dominican Nationals Extradited to Face “Grandparent Scam”
Charges - August 6, 2024
The Justice Department’s Consumer Protection Branch and its
law enforcement partners will vigorously pursue criminals who
defraud victims through so-called ‘grandparent scams. We will
continue to identify perpetrators of these schemes and prioritize
the pursuit of those who deliberately target vulnerable
Americans from abroad. We thank the government of the
Dominican Republic for extraditing these defendants to the
United States to face charges.

Justice Department Officials Participate in National Night Out - Tuesday, August 6
Each year, National Night Out gives communities across the
country the chance to celebrate and strengthen the partnership
between law enforcement and those we serve.
It was particularly meaningful to be able to mark National Night
Out after experiencing one of lowest national violent crime rates
in 50 years this past year. We will never stop working to build on
this progress because every person, in every neighborhood, in
every community deserves to be safe from violent crime.
-Attorney General Merrick B. Garland
