What is science? Science is using observation and experimenting to learn about the world around us
and everything in the universe. During science lessons, we can learn new facts and information
about plants, animals, the weather, material, planets, and so much more.
Believe it or not, there are actually several different types of science. Physics, chemistry,
astronomy, botany, paleontology, and zoology. What is the scientific method?
We use science to answer questions about the world around us and to make new discoveries.
Come join me and let's be scientists together. First, we have to figure out our question.
What are you trying to find out? Next, we need a hypothesis. What do you think will happen?
Then, we have to gather all our materials. What will you need for this experiment?
Now, we're going to go through our procedure. What steps will you take to do the experiment?
What are your results? What happened during the experiment? Finally, we must come up with
our conclusion. What did you find out? Was your prediction correct? Why is the scientific method
important? The scientific method is proven to improve the quality and accuracy of scientific
reports. Scientists incorporate the standardized approach into their work because it creates an
environment that discourages personal biases from influencing an investigation. Okay, now that we've
had a go at being scientists ourselves, let's take a look at some famous scientists. Do you know any
of these scientists or what they were famous for? Albert Einstein is famous for his theories and
ideas about physics. Jane Goodall is famous for her studies about chimpanzees and speaking up for
animal rights. Galileo Galilei is famous for inventing the telescope and discovering the four
biggest moons of Jupiter. Mae Jemison is famous for being the first Black American woman to travel
into space. Why do you think science is important? Turn and talk with the person next to you and
share your ideas. Our final thought of the day. If you could be a scientist, what would you study or
invent? Thanks for joining us today. For more resources related to science, head to twinkle.com.
