It's been less than a week since Copa America 2024 kicked off in the United States,
but there have been plenty of golazos scored already. We're bringing the top 5 goals scored
during the first round of the group stages and we begin with Lautaro Martinez's goal against
Canada at number 5. A silky through ball by Lionel Messi found Martinez 1v1 in front of the goal.
The intermediate striker kept his cool and finished the play hitting the ball underneath
the goalkeeper's legs to seal the win for Argentina. Despite losing 3 goals to 1 against
Uruguay in their Copa America debut, Panama scored a great goal against La Celeste.
Michael Murillo found himself with some space inside the box, made a quick cut to his left
foot and bended the ball towards the far side of the goal, turning the Uruguayan goalkeeper
into just another spectator in a week full of long range goals. Gerardo Ortega earned spot
number 3 thanks to a powerful shot against Jamaica. Without having to take a touch,
Ortega's left foot turned the ball into a missile that ended up kissing the side of the net,
giving Mexico a 1-0 win. The second best goal of the week was scored by Christian
Pulisic against Bolivia, with 3 minutes on the clock. The US men's national team captain
surprised everyone at AT&T Stadium with an early golazo. The Bolivian goalkeeper was able to put
a finger in it, but it wasn't enough to stop Pulisic's strike from ending in the back of the
net. The number 1 spot on this list belongs to Uruguay's Maxi Araujo. The winger opened the
score for La Celeste against Panama with a tremendous strike from outside the box. Araujo's
shot was too much for the Panamanian goalkeeper, who couldn't do much to stop the strike, giving
us the best goal scored at Copa America 2024 so far.
