My name is Adam and I've been exploring China for six years.
In the center of this vast country lies a place where the wonders of nature
defy expectation and mystical mountains rise from earth's embrace.
This is Zhangjiajie.
Today I will give you a look behind the scenes of how and why I love making videos in China.
I grew up in the countryside and I spent my childhood running through fields and
forests in Northern Ireland. And even though now I live in a big city,
I love to come back to the countryside in China. It just feels so nostalgic.
The hotel that I'm staying at has the most adorable puppy,
Popeye, and he's come out for a walk with me this morning.
Popeye!
People always ask me if I will ever get bored of making videos in China,
and to be honest, I don't think that I ever will.
On this trip, I've brought the Canon R5 with me
to capture all of the epic moments in fantastic quality.
So I've changed the autofocus system to detect animals,
and with a really quick-moving subject like Popeye here,
it's really fast at catching onto his eyes and getting the dog in focus.
And we're just off the bus and straight away, the Avatar Mountains, Zhangjiajie.
So we're just waiting to go up the Bailong Elevator here,
highest outdoor elevator in the whole world.
Takes you up like 300 meters in about 90 seconds.
Wow, this is the view of Zhangjiajie.
We are so high up the mountain, and there are so many columns.
This is incredible.
How could I get bored of places like this?
You could spend weeks walking through Zhangjiajie,
and every day would be totally different.
And that's not to mention the snow in winter or the colours of the leaves in autumn.
So what I really like so far about the Canon R5
is that it has a full-frame CMOS sensor, 45 megapixels.
So when you take pictures at places like this, so much detail.
It's amazing quality.
So there's so many monkeys here at the entrance of the Golden Whip Stream,
and they love this, a little bit of nugget.
Ready?
And yes, I've been travelling in China for six years,
but I feel like I've just scratched the surface.
Every place I visit, I'm reminded of how little I've seen,
and it makes me so eager to seek out new places.
So this is the Golden Whip Stream.
It runs through the Zhangjiajie National Park,
and it takes about 90 minutes to walk the whole thing.
It's very quiet.
It's great to take some pictures.
Just the sounds of nature,
and with these towering mountains above us.
Pretty incredible.
Majestic, pristine, grand, sublime.
None of these words quite capture the feeling
when you're standing below these mountains.
It's just crazy that places like this actually exist,
and this is real life.
I absolutely love making videos in China.
Letting people see what real China is,
and showing them places that they've never been to.
My hope is that people see my videos,
and they might book a flight to come and visit this amazing country.
So with the R5, I've got two lenses with me.
The 24-70mm f2.8.
Really good for just kind of everything.
Walking goes pretty wide for animals and wildlife,
and more zoomy in shots.
I've also got the 70-200mm f2.8.
So this is really good for wildlife,
and getting good details of things.
This is my passion.
I love exploring new places,
and I love using cameras to try and document what I see and what I feel.
If you come to Zhangjiajie,
make sure to come and do this golden whip stream walk.
It's so peaceful, and it's just valley after valley.
Oh, the mountains.
You're literally walking between them.
It is...
Don't have words.
Absolutely, utterly beautiful.
Oh, my neck's sore.
Looking up all day.
So good.
Coming to places like Zhangjiajie
reminds me why I will never stop making videos in China.
I want to go everywhere.
I want to see everything,
and I want to share the joy and wonder of exploring China with all of you.
That is absolutely beautiful.
And in 50 years from now, when I'm old and grey,
I can look back at my videos,
and I can live these experiences all over again.
These are my memories,
and I will cherish them forever.
Thank you.
