Hi guys, good morning from Siem Reap, Cambodia. Welcome to the first episode of my solo backpacking
Southeast Asia tour where I'll be exploring temples in Siem Reap and more temples, gorgeous.
Going to markets, having nothing to buy there, exploring night markets where I try new foods
like frogs, yay, and papaya salad and many other delicious dishes. Sunrise tour at Angkor Wat,
other temples in the Angkor Wat complex, steepest stairs I've ever seen in my life, along with lunch
and wacky trees at temples and more wacky trees at temples with dinner. So thank you for watching,
hope you enjoy. I'm Karin, I'm currently traveling through Southeast Asia and today I'm at my first
stop, Siem Reap, Cambodia. First day and I was trying to get to one of the famous pagodas in
town and I was gonna walk from my hostel because it's only like 400 meters and then the tuk-tuk
drivers were like talking to me and I was like oh no I can walk and then he's like oh no I'll just
take you there and I was kind of scared that I was gonna be charged but they were nice and they
just took me for free and I was like thank you. So now I'm at one of the famous pagodas
and it's looking very nice. Look at like the architecture and all the designs, it's crazy,
it's so pretty and I don't even think this is the main entrance, that's probably the main entrance
so I'm gonna try going in. Okay I found the main entrance, I'm at Phraya Pramroth Pagoda, yeah.
Wow, look at it, look at the tiles, look at how pretty they are. The garden is absolutely gorgeous,
there's like so many colourful flowers and the gold is stunning. Look at how
beautiful that is, oh my goodness. Okay I'm seeing shoes so I'm guessing I take off my shoes here.
Guys it's so hot, I think it's like 40 degrees now but like under the temple, in the temple,
it's pretty nice and like cool so I can breathe now.
I hear like the sounds of like the instrument things but I'm not sure where they're coming from.
Oh my god, is she getting eaten by an alligator? Oh no, yeah that was supposed to be,
I don't, I don't know what's happening here. So like because I wear contact lens and um the
amount of carry-on liquids, I couldn't fit um three months worth of contact lens so I only
brought one month, one month's worth of contact lens so I have to wear glasses like every three
days and I don't mind wearing glasses but like I want to wear my sunglasses because it's really
bright here. Am I supposed to touch this? I don't know, I'm sorry but I'm not supposed to um yeah.
So I went inside and there was like a Buddha but like there's a monk and some people are doing like
something and I'm scared I'm gonna interrupt them so I just left. I knew it, I knew being human was
hard. It's a difficulty so it's supposed to be hard guys.
It's seven colors. Okay the seven colors. We have for one. Yeah. For seven days. Oh one color each day? Yeah.
So it represents every day? Yeah. Okay, that's interesting.
Everyone comes here? Yeah. To? Yeah, meditation and praise the Dharma. Okay. Clean. Clean them? Yeah.
Okay, I see. Is there like a number of how many there are? A lot. A lot, okay. So 100 monks live here
in the same building? Yeah, this is for the monks. Okay, this is for the monks too? Yeah, mostly. Okay.
We're at Wat Bo. University that's in Wat Bo and that's a school, apparently that one
and it's huge. It's so quiet. So right now I'm at the Made in Cambodia market which is like a market
full of local handmade things but someone told me that the prices here are pretty expensive.
Well, it's fair trade I guess. I'm not sure but yeah it's a tourist spot.
Okay, I walked in there and it took like two minutes, not even, like 30 seconds to go around
and I don't want to buy anything. There's nothing I want and also they're pretty expensive so
yeah. I'm already done. Yeah. So I took a bag. The reason why it's like expensive here is because
they're proper. They're selling it for the money that they deserve to get.
So it's like 38 degrees right now and it's boiling hot. I'm trying to walk to another place called
the Old Market and it's a market where they sell fashion things, I heard. So I'm trying to get there.
I think this is one of the night market. It says night market. This is the night market?
Maybe. Feels kind of empty during the day, NGL. All these clothes are pretty cute
but I don't think they're the best quality. There is no way that all these are good to eat. I'm sorry
but they smell, they don't smell very good and I am not confident to eat that. Yeah.
It's just so hot, guys. Like I need, I'm trying to find somewhere with AC
but all the cafes don't have AC. I was looking for the Old Market and I was at the Old Market.
So all these stores are a part of the Old Market. Those flowers look so nice.
I just spent like 10 minutes cooling down in a pharmacy because it was air-conditioned
and I somehow got to Palm Street which is like the worst.
My hostel because it was too hot outside. AC is so nice. I don't know what I'll be doing tonight.
Oh, crickets.
It's not great, right? It's a little like chicken.
You know if it's crispy it's okay. Mine was not that crispy.
I just swallowed. No, no thanks, no thanks.
It's sour.
It's good. Yeah, tell me how I'm not enjoying it.
So surprised.
It's just a bit, yeah.
Okay, you know Fanny? Fanny, Fanny, Fanny.
It's like carved.
Yeah, that's the thing.
They're so well preserved. It's crazy how we can just walk around here and everything's just like
there and we can climb it and stuff. Look at all this detail and it's so well preserved.
It's crazy. All the stones have like holes in them and I wonder why. Someone please tell me.
Hi, so now we're at Bayon Temple which is one of the temples in the Angkor Wat. Wait, no.
Angkor Wat is probably just Angkor Wat. There's a lot of temples in the area and this is one of them.
It's huge and like look it takes like two hours
and like one hour and stuff just to like go around. That's how big it is.
The baby one is so cute.
Whoa, so chaotic. Oh my gosh, it's crazy. Oh my god.
Yeah, if you fall you just fall.
It's quite sweet. It's so chewy.
We're at the place where the tree is on top of the thing.
They're all headless. Look at that. It looks like it could fall apart at any moment.
Like honestly, it's all starting to look the same but it's just giant stones
piled up and big trees and roots everywhere.
More temples.
Second last temple. Oh, is this it? It's just that path? Yeah. That's the other side? No.
Oh my god, wow. It's actually so nice. The water looks nice, like clear too.
And it's air-conditioned and it's so nice. I am so tired. It feels like it's already like
night time or at least afternoon but it's not even 12 p.m yet. It's like 11
like 50 or something. I didn't know a day could be so long like if you wake up early.
Oh, it's just so bad and these lines are staining. Thank you.
But it goes well? It does, yeah. Would you put colours on your pizza? I'm not against it. Yeah,
me neither. I would. It's okay. It's not worth the conflict. Do you think that they turn
to radar like maybe not every time? Maybe not every time but like probably once like every three
times. Yeah, I've actually never watched it so I'm excited. Yeah, me too. Yeah, it's perfect. We
can be like, oh my god, it's that tree. I've touched that tree. I hear Japanese.
I was on the same plane with these people. Oh yeah? Yeah, and weird thing, it was from Shanghai
to Bangkok. So it's like, wow, they're here. That is like a quick like. Yeah,
they were sitting in front of me. Yeah, oh my god.
