(Laliga 2024/2025): Highlights VALENCIA - BARCELONA
Javier Iglesias Villanueva is the video assistant referee
and I'll just be quiet for a few seconds so we can hear
these magnificent Valencia supporters in their wonderful stadium
of all the fans who've lost their lives through the summer.
...for their team and it's getting better here down the right-hand side.
Almeida's done very well, he's kept his feet to the cross, comes in!
And it was so nearly turned.
Well, you have to give credit because it was turned away but it could have...
Rafinha.
Rafinha goes for goal and Mamadashvili palms that away.
And it spins back...
...breaks on and cuts back, slides that one in beautifully.
And the cross, takes a deflection and Ter Stegen has to save it,
it's near post.
It was Diego Lopez and Hugo Duro combining.
Again, Hugo Duro and Rafinha in the middle,
so is Almeida, Hugo Duro with the header!
Valencia take the lead!
The flag is up.
Well, they didn't see it.
Is the flag up, Carlos?
The flag is up.
They're already celebrating, Pete.
There it goes.
The decision from on high comes down and Valencia have the lead.
One minute before the break and there's the celebration.
Hugo Duro chases it down as you knew he would
and he's helped to force an error.
And he might get a chance to make it two!
Cleared off the line brilliantly by Kubasi.
They've only lost once in the last 17.
Balve with the cross to the back post.
Coming in is Laminia Mal,
he's been turned in by Robert Lewandowski.
And Barcelona are on level terms.
Lewandowski hasn't had too many touches in this first half
but he's got the important one just before the break.
Laminia Mal delivering and Lewandowski making no mistake from close range.
It's Valencia 1, FC Barcelona 1.
We need to find a solution to this.
Ferran Torres drills that one in towards Rafinha
and the referee's given the penalty.
You called it immediately, the referee in agreement.
Into the top corner and it's Barcelona 2-1 up at Mestalla.
Lewandowski again and it's an awful start to the second 45 minutes.
And it might be getting worse for Valencia.
Laminia Mal.
Spins brilliantly away from Habegger and into space.
And he's found Ferran, the flag surely is raised.
Ferran continues, honing in on the goalkeeper.
It's good save from Mamed Esfili, cleared by Jarek.
It's Kubasi, so Christensen will be playing as a centre-back.
So no more risks to be taken with Kubasi.
Something extra, a new rhythm in midfield.
And here is Laminia Mal.
So this is what's happening to Valencia, let's see.
Barcelona forward in numbers here,
the cross comes in and the chance for Casado.
He's put it wide.
Well, that really would have capped what's been such a pitch side.
Some things don't change.
There was a fantastic atmosphere inside Mestalla.
The band played at half-time and Robert Lewandowski scored a couple of goals.
And it was enough to give...
