Highlights: Braunschweig - Frankfurt | DFB-POKAL 2024/2025

Eintracht versus Eintracht. Braunschweig against Frankfurt. One of four games in the first round. Bringing together teams from the 2. Bundesliga and the top flight. First Pokal meeting of these two in 38 years. Here's Walid Olcik for Braunschweig. And having a go, but on his radar. Just a little wonky, the Dutchman. But an exciting addition to the squad. That is Shaibi to take the corner. And Robin Koch attacking the ball, but straight at Lennart Griel. Corners haven't been a strength for Eintracht Frankfurt in the last couple of years. Dino Topmuller and his players spent part of the pre-season preparing across the Atlantic. Sven Köhler with the corner, and Kevin Trapp. Olcik and Joan Gomez. And it was Rasmus Christensen who got in the way. And a good thing too. Ledijn in his first official appearance for Frankfurt. Daniel Scherning, the Braunschweig coach, sees one or two things he likes. 0-0 at the break, not too many clear-cut chances. Let's see if Eintracht Frankfurt can open things up in the second half. Elias Skiri. Here's Omar Mahmoud. And the talented Hugo Ekitike. He does have a flair for the dramatic. Mahmoud. Ekitike. And there's Fadi Shaibi. And there's the breakthrough for Eintracht Frankfurt. 52 minutes. And it was served on a silver platter by Ekitike. Shaibi to finish it off. Just what Frankfurt needed. And is that a sign of better things to come from them? Ekitike ended last season with four goals in five games. And it's quite the solo run here. And he gets it back from Mahmoud. And Ekitike. Oh, it's brilliant. It's a wonderful goal. Ekitike. He set up the first. And he's only gone and bagged a beauty of his own. And this is going to be front and centre in all the highlight reels. Splendid goal by the effervescent Hugo Ekitike. And Frankfurt are two to the good. Well, has that knocked the stuffing out of Braunschweig? They've rather lost their defensive shape. And Kunku in there. Larsson. And Ekitike. There's another one. He scored a second. And Frankfurt's third. And this is the Hugo Ekitike show. Make no mistake about that. An assist and two goals. And such a confident finish here. Delightful chip. How about this for a TFB-Pokal debut? The Frankfurt fans who've made the journey of more than three hours approve Ekitike. Unplayable in this half. Forward by Shaibi. Here's Igor Matanovich. And he's done well. And it's Skiri. And pushed away by Grill. Well, Matanovich. Crossword last season wearing the colours of Karlsruhe. Here's Tuta. Frankfurt in complete control of this half. But wait a minute. Kevin Trapp. That didn't go to plan. And wide by Conte. The substitute. And a mishap. Trapp, the new Frankfurt captain. Free kick taken by Marmus. And there's Matanovich. Well, the man who replaced the star of the show, Ekitike, has come up with a goal of his own. And it's four for Eintracht Frankfurt. With this first-round tie ebbing away. Braunschweig haven't really been able to express themselves in the second half. But there's a goal for the home side. Scored by Levente Savo. The Hungarian centre-forward. A consolation strike. Well, we've been treated to a really special second-half performance from this man. Hugo Ekitike. A night here in Braunschweig. He's not going to forget in a hurry. Frankfurt have made it through.
