Martin Odegaard suffers major ankle injury and limps off.
This is not what you want to hear in the week of the North London derby.
Obviously, we know the ref did us dirty in the Brighton game.
Declan Rice is missing the North London derby.
Mikel Moreno is missing the North London derby.
California's had some crazy sort of scares with Italy.
And now Martin Odegaard has picked up a knock.
Now, boy, Arsenal fans, we knew it was peak.
But it's peak, you know.
For those of you in the summer that said,
I can't wait until the season starts again.
Boy, I told you lot, be careful.
We love the football club.
But life is getting at us very quickly.
And this squad is clearly being means tested.
Clearly.
Now, I don't know what we do in relation to midfield.
You'd imagine Kai Havertz, if he wasn't going to play in midfield,
going into this game because of certain people missing the game.
He sure as hell probably has to play in the middle of the park now.
And I don't know if you're going to say Timber in the mix,
Zinchenko in the mix.
I don't know what we're going to do in the middle of the park.
But Mikel Artel, who's spare a foot for the guy, man.
He probably just found his solution.
And the way he wanted to play with the injury issues
and the suspensions that have already been there.
And now this, man.
But yeah, people, man, that was just that.
That minute was just me, man.
That was tears from the heart, man.
But yeah, Martin Odegaard has allegedly picked up a knock.
Now we hope and pray that this is nothing serious, people.
But the man left the pitch limping and in tears.
It's scary stuff.
It's scary.
This is unnecessarily scary.
You know, we're trying to win a title.
We've just come out of the summer transfer window.
Players are getting injured.
Oh, my days.
And there are going to be some Arsenal fans.
You know, everybody's a genius in hindsight.
We would say, why didn't we act in the market
and make sure we had depth for one?
And also very reactionary.
But the Emil Smith-Rose, the Fabio Vieiras,
who have departed this club permanently
or on a temporary basis, wishing they was there.
Because boy, even young Ethan, boy,
heroes are made in games like this
and in weeks like this.
You've got Trossart.
You've got Sterling.
I'll tell you, you're going to have to just find a way, man.
I'm nervous, man, because not only do we
lose the creativity in a player that is already
always available for the pass, we also
lose an individual that is the second man in the press
for us people defensively.
We all know how much winning the first and second balls
and draws and all that stuff in the Premier League is vital.
So yeah, this isn't what you want to see.
Romano, as you'd imagine, be on it first and foremost as well.
I'm being very selfish, if I'm completely honest with you.
I'm thinking about myself and what
this means for my football club.
We need to remember, myself included,
Martin Oldergaard is a human being
and we hope he's all right.
We hope you're all right from a health point of view.
Get stronger soon, captain, man.
I'm still shook, though.
I'm not going to lie, man.
And even the headlines, again, as you can see it there.
I believe the Norway coach even said,
Martin Oldergaard's injury looked bad
in the dressing room as well.
Boy, the Norway apologies doctor said
he's got a small ankle sprain.
Maybe we'll use ultrasound to look at it.
If we are unsure, there'll be an MRI tomorrow.
Now, you'd imagine regardless, surely Arsenal
or the Norwegian medical team make him do an MRI
and see if there's any underlying damage
and any complications.
Now, we hope for the best and we prepare for the worst.
You know, when you hear small ankle sprain,
again, that does probably mean you've got to sit down
for a game or two, but it could be better.
It could be worse.
You don't want to hear months on midfield.
And again, I'm so passionate on it.
It's easy for me to be an armchair expert
and talk about the midfield.
But as I've been saying in a number of live streams,
and again, everyone can be a genius in hindsight,
you know, you look at our squad last season,
assume people, nobody left and everybody stayed.
The squad was how it was.
You could make a case of a winger, a striker,
two central midfielders.
Now I know it's easier said than done.
I'm not in the boardroom with Mikel Lauteta and Edu,
but this man last, a few months ago,
March, April time said,
we've got one of the smallest squads in the league.
You hope for the best, but Martin Odegaard,
one of our more durable players, our captain,
is now injured.
Tomi Asu is apparently on the mend,
but it's a frequent one with injuries,
unfortunately for him.
And also Gabriel Jesus, you know,
you've got Raheem Sterling as well.
Maybe there's something to do there.
You wonder for his fitness.
You hope the God party is wrapped in cotton wool.
Jorginho, make sure the shim pants and boots are dusted.
We could have acted in the summer, man.
Our squad is tiny and we're just beginning to season,
people, man.
Like the season is just beginning.
We've got Spurs, Champions League, City.
It is what it is, man.
We hope for the best, man.
Small ankle sprain, there could be reasons for optimism.
We hope for the best and it's just bruising
and it's a painful tackle when you miss out.
Unfortunately, you never know with these things
and you want to rule out as many things as you can.
I always say, though, when it comes to injuries,
unfortunately, I've got sympathy evidently for the players,
for the players, teammates, for us Arsenal fans.
To a degree for Mikel Lauteta,
but if I'm completely honest,
big up the manager and big up Edu.
Not really for you lot,
because you lot are very smart at this football team.
You know these things can happen.
Even when you look at the rhetoric around California,
when Mikel Lauteta was asked,
he spoke on depth.
He spoke on a wider point of we've been very fortunate
with Saliba, Gabriel, Benjamin White
to have them really and truly fit for the majority
in the last two seasons prior to the one now.
Boy, I know it's easier said than done.
Do you know what the saddest thing is?
Do you know what the saddest thing away
from Martin Odegaard being injured is, people?
Do you know what the saddest thing is?
In the summer when we're making our live streams
and whatnot, big up you lot that was there
and was supporting and whatnot.
And I'm sure some of you, of your friends,
we spoke about, yeah, we need a centre mid or two.
We're talking about a winger or a striker.
Obviously goalkeeper was even with Ramsdale,
with Raya being permanent,
with Chase in second and third chases.
You know, California, another left back was,
you know, just on the topic of bringing in another defender
was a talking point.
But one thing we said as Arsenal fans,
when we got away from those examples that I mentioned,
we said, what happens if Martin Odegaard gets an injury?
It's funny, isn't it?
Things are happening now.
Again, whether Zinchenko gets an option,
whether, you know, whether Zinchenko gets a look in,
whether Ethan gets a look in,
whether the manager sits there and says,
you know what, forget the eight and a half thing.
We're going to go with a flat midfield three.
Maybe again, in terms of different personnel,
we try something like Timbo.
Maybe it's even up three at the back.
You'd imagine if anything happens to Martin Odegaard,
apologies, ironically for me,
you would imagine that Kai Havertz would play in his role
purely because of what he offers off the ball.
But, you know, Kai, if he doesn't play up front,
there's a hole there.
If he goes into the eight, there's a hole.
If he now goes into the 10 now,
there could be a hole.
That could be something.
Havertz, Jorginho, Puy, I don't know.
And maybe that's for another video, people.
My heart is bleeding right now, man.
Arsenal have been dealt a problem of potentially,
you know, I can't say that, you know,
a potential blow, we'll call it,
just six days before their derby against Furs.
After Martin Odegaard was injured on Norway duty,
the playmaker suffered an ankle injury
after a slight tackle from Christoph
Bogartner, apologies for mispronunciations,
and was taken off 67 minutes into Norway's
2-1 Nations League win over Austria Monday night.
Now, again, I pick up players that play for their country.
I think it's the highest honour.
I don't think players should be persuaded
not to be called up.
You know, you're inspiring the youth and the generation
and, you know, you're supporting your people
but at the same time, if I'm really sinister,
you look at the number of players
that continuously pull out of these friendlies,
and I don't blame the players
because there's a lot of pointless friendlies.
The Nations League's added a bit of competitiveness
but it's a congested fixture calendar list
and it's only going to get worse.
You've heard several players speak about that,
even in this international period.
When I'm seeing several players come out of England,
Rice, I get it, you need to get a game
and you did well against Ireland,
but Declan Rice, Makaio Saka, Martin Odegaard,
I know Harlan's there,
but there's been times Harlan's pulled out.
You know, you need to pull out
like you're not ready for a kid, man.
Because for us, with these things,
it's always happening when players are not at the club.
Sure, okay, there's been injuries
but, you know, Moreno's injured in training.
What are the chances?
You know, the beginning of the end,
in a sense, for Gabriel Jesus,
or the beginning of this frequent injury stuff
was in the World Cup for Brazil.
California the other day for Italy,
now we hope that one day is all right
and it does seem a lot more positive.
But boy, and we've gone over
what the Norway gaffer has said already,
and again, I feel sorry for Martin Odegaard.
He's our captain.
We're doing what we're doing as a football club.
He's actually, you know, his missus is pregnant.
Life is going good for Odegaard
and unfortunately there's challenging twists,
but Martin Odegaard,
you're a very resolute character, man.
You've dealt with a lot in your life,
I'm sure, to get to this point
and you'll get over it.
Unfortunately, injuries, as I say in all my live streams,
injuries to footballers are like
chefs cutting their hand in the kitchen.
It's part and parcel of the game.
Life is coming at Arsenal Football Club very quickly.
Four games or so into the Premier League season,
we've got referees, we've got injuries,
we've got some positive, some negative
on the transfer front.
We've got a debate about depth.
We've got a debate about players in form
because Martin Odegaard, we miss him now, obviously.
You don't know what you have till it's gone.
People say, oh, Martin Odegaard ain't doing this,
ain't doing that.
Boys, we hope for the best.
We hope that, you know what,
the best case scenario,
I hope it's just bruising and a bad tackle,
but I'm not a physio
and it'll be a nervous wait for Martin Odegaard
to see what that entails people.
At the time of making this video,
of course, at 9.30 UK time,
I've got Alex of The Different Knock.
I'm pretty sure at some point,
I'll go live to speak about
why the Arsenal talking points in no doubt,
as well as Martin Odegaard's injury.
And you know what?
This might be a more in-depth
kind of look at Odegaard.
And again, our squad is being mean tested, folks,
but we're going to have to get on with it.
On that note, you lot stay safe, stay blessed.
Smash the like button.
Let me know your thoughts.
Peace.
