On the hunt in Nevada for Abandoned Mining Camps

[Music] looking up into the wash here you can see down below on the screen there's some remnants almost looks like a box spring for the mattress then this is an exciting find yeah these metal balls are so heavy and this is what they would put into the machines and they would roll around and crush the ore and there's dozens of them really heavy now these are iron some they've got to be some kind of yeah super solid metal to because they're yeah rock hard and they would still get worn down so they needed replacing but these are in these are really good conditions yeah there's a lot of them and all behind me and then just a little further along you can tell there was a lot more here at one point just scattered bits the size of that lumber there mattress frame and the most exciting find so far almost looks like a little outhouse sorry just had to use the facilities is it a double one it's a double one and it also has a toilet paper holder can you believe that isn't that great right out in the middle of nowhere but something's made a nest in one of the chambers the rocks have filled up me up and the whole nest goes into this one as well but hey look it's even got the yeah the hinges yeah they still work and this is quite what uh this is a bud it's got liquid in it miller miller lighters would that be now what yeah believe that style is from the 70s i could be mistaken pretty impressive though finding the loo out in the middle of nowhere and it's the only thing standing yeah as you can see this is below the little wash where we just started and there is nothing for miles beautiful snow topped mountains yeah so that's up towards bishop area so we love this dustin and lori take us to some amazing places out here let's go find something else [Music] come a little further up the wash and you can see there are some more remains scattered all over the floor of this magnificent desert wash yeah there's an old remains of an old stove there just the top there's a decent sized can dump and further up not quite sure what this would have been you've got this little room storage but there is a vent so at the top at the back like a little chimney i mean would they have held dynamite in here have it as a storage it could be uh they could have held explosives in here maybe some extra spare parts and around the door you've got some closed captioning not available that is really neat because there was obviously looking outside there was a lot more to this structure so this could have been you know maybe they did keep this explosives here in the back and then this was the workshop area and this is a nice little find our friend lori found it it's a little tin with hinges still opens now i wonder what sort of tin would that be can you make out any of the writing on it is that a a s aspirin that's oh it's printing how cute is that it's really neat so yeah that's pretty cool let's see what else we can find just a little further up the wash and we came across this it's in kind of an open pit area now there was a little entrance to a mine but it's completely collapsed opened out to the pit we'll show in a minute but we are unsure of the purpose of this it kind of looks like a like it was a truck bed set on top of a truck like a dump truck type device there's this extra piece inside so if that was put on the the front of it the back you see it's also got these little spots to lift it up it's really cool though you'll never know what you can find out up these old desert washes let's now show you some more there's some wooden pieces left up there can only uh make a guess at what was up there because there's not enough left anymore then as you can see this is all open now may have been at it through here a few drifts at one point in time but it's all completely collapsed in climbed up top here just to show you this magnificent view and you can see down in the center of the screen that's the wash we've been dribbing up and the side by side tonto cannot make it up these roads and you can also see the scale of what that mine once was see laurie and andrew down there then way off in the distance there maybe you can just barely make them out there's dustin he went over to check out that mine see if it's worth climbing up to made another discovery here there's some writing on it it says north america air arrow oh it's a cyanide oh is that cyanide psy nice yes cyanide something canada huh it's a night little find though that's cool so this was once the portal to the mine as you can see sunlight through there that whole section of roof has collapsed just beyond it there was the uh opening original opening see a bunch of that stuff's all covered up in the front of it on the side of the rock here you can see there's a drill hole there and a drill hole up there but this is what it looks like now [Music] higher up on the mountain near the very top and you can hear the wind is pretty ferocious it has taken its toll on this building here in front of us no telling what this would have been see the giant water tank back there and then we've got this let's take a look inside now this has got very thick cement walls wood cladding on the inside nice thick sturdy wood but unfortunately the elements were a bit stronger [Applause] see the roof collapsed that poor structure's just completely given way back there it's in the back wall if you can tell but that's bowing pretty severely so decent rainfall might lose it completely there's some more shelving here so again perhaps dynamite storage explosives back along the outside of that small concrete building you see some wood going along the sides here and just in front of us on the ground but then that leads to this see continued up almost like a little fence then there's this cast iron piece where to begin it looks like it was an oven of some sort maybe not you take a look inside and then this one just kind of dives down you can see right here it's been cut there and on that side and forced down so whatever they had would shoot down into here and possibly an oven because also if you notice back over here along the hillside a bunch of coal deposit so they were burning something here don't know what kind of process that would have been here top to an old jug that's pretty thick could have held some wine possibly would have been great to find that intact ah some shelter from the wind a little bit this is cool and dusty yeah remains of a fire in there you may think we are in a canyon that's not the case this was once the mine it's now an open pit mine was the bottom way down there it is incredible it's massive the amount of earth that has been removed and you can see that far hill the very top over to this hill at the top that's ground level all of this has been removed and there's still remnants of an addict yeah just there center the screen back wall could have at one point in time been the main haulage at it see it's all filled in but if you look just behind it that's all opened as well so and that's where they stopped ultimately found a little incline shaft try and get a little peek down i don't know my shadow's gonna be in the way some of it but this is pretty well plugged up still probably make your way down there but uh no thank you andrew came across this strange looking contraption they definitely burn something yes i don't know if it was a fire pit some way to melt the oar somehow or have no idea it's a makeshift one homemade one you've got the pipe on the side yep and then these on top look like they hold this oops this and this looks like something sat in it almost like a like a cauldron type thing like on top right we have stumbled upon this very unique feature it's like a canyon we first stopped andrea spotted this looks like a doorway but it's just where the waters come through but how amazing is that you know this is super soft you can see just barely touching it with your rubs the surface away but just the features of it are incredible we'll walk up in here a little bit maybe some claim stakes here along the outside heading up the wash this is the only section like it on the entire mountain you may be able to see the snow is coming down really well first time we've ever filmed in snow but look at what else we found an entire little encampment [Music] you
