I'm just curious to know, what was it that first attracted you to work on this film?
Well, it's not a straightforward answer, I don't think.
But I guess it was the chemistry that Nina and I had together.
On stage, we met doing a 50 hour long improv show.
And we spent a lot of that time improvising together.
So I think that's what drew me. It was a natural chemistry that we found together.
And we started writing the film together.
I don't know, it all just sort of happened organically.
We really found something in each other's hearts and minds that said, keep going with this.
And it just felt like a really exciting story to create.
So, being from the States myself, what was the inspiration for placing it in the States versus placing it over here?
That's the first part of it.
Well, one thing, I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
So we shot it there because we wrote it for that landscape.
And I think, yeah, we were drawn to the size of the sky and the expansiveness of the desert.
It's something that's in my blood, having grown up there.
Yeah, I mean, it's just a great place to film out in the desert.
Who doesn't want to do that?
Yeah, no, and visually it was stunning.
Do you have any particular favorite road trip spots of your own that you have done or would like to get to do?
I would really love to own that Airstream.
I would really love it if we could actually take a road trip in it and drive across the country into California and up through Yosemite and into the Redwoods, probably.
And I have my own theory, but I'm curious to know. I'll save mine.
Why a wolf?
I don't know. I put that mask on and started acting like a real unfiltered weirdo.
And it was really liberating and fun.
And so that's where it started. That character started as somebody that would just say anything and just be ridiculous.
And then he turned into what he is in the movie, which is a slightly more sensitive guy.
If you could really quickly summarize one or two quick things you're hoping people take away from the film when they walk out of it tonight.
As we go forward.
I hope they find it cathartic and romantic and I hope they laugh.
I think it's a thing of beauty. I hope you like it.
Awesome. Well thank you so much for your time. Good luck with the festival.
