Well, we've seen one or two big drives down there already today.
I wonder how far McElroy can send it.
When we say hero worshipped in this part of the world, we're not exaggerating.
I wonder how many kids have told their parents, I want to go and see Rory today.
Fairway missed though.
There's an upslope short of the green that ends ten yards short.
Then a little plateau, then it's all down to the green.
All about where he pitches this.
I think he's done rather a good job with that.
My goodness.
And that's why he ran 120 yards to go and work out exactly the little tabletop area where he wanted to land it.
Brilliant.
McElroy for Eagle at one.
He said it yesterday and probably hoist the trophy.
This one for Rory.
We know breaks left.
I have to start it outside the hole.
Not an easy putt.
Well done.
That was a good stroke.
He's good at these.
This will require a nice touch actually.
He was aiming.
We had a great camera angle there.
Aiming right at that.
The grass kind of closed the clubface.
I think if you can come out today and probably only drop two, you've got to think you're going to shoot under par.
Which I think is more than acceptable.
Up the hill.
It's going to be the first bogey today for Rory McElroy.
I think that Anthony said it right though.
I mean, you're going to make bogeys today.
I think, yeah, as he said, if you can limit it to two, I think you're going to play a very good round.
Because with some of the downhill holes, you're definitely going to, you know, make some birdies.
Potential Eagle.
Iron 6 for McElroy.
I've never seen him show a course as much respect off the tee as I've seen this week.
Get the wind.
That's like that.
Lovely shot.
Field.
Here I come.
Shades of yesterday, I'm afraid.
Close, but no cigar.
Yeah, this will be interesting.
125 for Rory.
In out the left.
Strong.
Need to really control this ball flight.
It will float.
That was nice.
The tee shot at seven.
A chance again for McElroy.
And just outside left.
Just outside.
Will the wind hold it up?
This time he gets it.
And Rory McElroy leads the way in the AmChen Irish Open.
Seriously restricted follow through.
Just trying to squeeze it down.
Keep it low.
There it is.
Just short of the flag.
Dead on line.
Lovely shot.
Gusty, dusty conditions.
Yeah, pretty good.
All in all, from that distance,
it's like 10, 12 feet in these gusty conditions.
This is key.
And speed for Rory.
Fantastic save.
Difficult hole in the golf course.
He is out in 33.
Two under par.
And this is the lead.
Tony, when you're dealing with wind and against slope
and that type of thing on greens when it's this windy,
you can't really teach that.
I mean, is it a sense that the best players have
or do the best players learn that?
I think it's, well, you do learn it,
but it's a sense that you have.
There's no doubt.
You know, you just feel the wind.
You feel it on your face.
You feel it on your back.
Four iron.
Just doesn't want to run out up and over the hill
at 11 for McElroy.
Everything slopes from right to left.
Is it going to hang on that ridge?
It does.
Stop for a second.
Speed should just stay in the fairway.
Nice, he wasn't fussed about that, was he?
He just had a sense of his confidence on that putt.
It's just, you know, look at his sweat.
It's blowing.
Oh, nice.
Nice.
He can weather that.
Yeah, I like his chances here, Tony.
Wow.
Down.
I think that is an amazing golf.
Bit of a grain change.
Quite a lot of slope change here, actually.
Pins in a tricky little spot,
but it is in the bottom of the bowl.
So right to left predominantly all the way.
Looks good.
Looks excellent.
It's a birdie.
Another birdie for Rory McElroy.
And he moves to seven under par.
That is an outrageous three.
That's robbery, actually.
It's a hammer blow for the field as well.
They look like he might give one or two up, potentially.
He takes a stride in the correct direction.
For a two at 14, outside chance.
According to the forecast,
there's going to be a little less in the way of breeze.
It's going to die down overnight.
No need to go high with the three wood.
Second hardest hole on the course today.
It's averaging 2.79,
nearer a par five than a par four.
It's a toughie.
And it counts the same as a 350 yard drive.
Can't get complacent.
He's holding that well.
His putting looks good.
As good as I've seen it in several months.
Anthony talked earlier today
about how well McElroy has managed his ball flight.
I've never seen Rory more controlled off the tee
as far as shot selection, club selection.
Much like that.
It's been a good day.
Three under par.
So well played there.
Pin back left corner.
Anything long goes over and down.
And it's a bogey six, I'm afraid,
at the last for Rory McElroy.
It's a two under round of 69
for the Race to Dubai leader.
So he'll go into Sunday
having a second Amgen Irish Open title.
Six under par.
