In part 1/3 of our "Fruit Loop" trip, we hit the road with friends, Chris and Emilie, to do a circle road trip tour from Hope, BC to the Okanagan Valley in search of the season’s best fruit. In this first of three episodes we figure out communications between the two vehicles, get settled in at Manning Provincial Park, and then manage to hit a tree with our trailer!
We stayed at the Coldspring Campground in Manning Provincial Park for a couple of nights, enjoyed the Paintbrush trail, made friends with some chipmunks, and then headed eastward to the town of Princeton, BC.

Welcome! In this three-part series, we join up with our friends Chris and Emily to head
into British Columbia's interior in search of fruit. In episode one, we figure out communications,
float down a creek, meet some chipmunks, go hiking, then manage to hit a tree coming out
of a campground. Yeah, whoops. We start our journey in Manning Park, just southeast of Hope,
BC. We're going to give walkie-talkies to Chris and Emily so that we can communicate while we're
on the road. And we had to come up with code names. Big Moose to Little Bear. Big Moose to
Little Bear. This is Little Bear. Roger, roger. Over and out. And there you have it. So this trip
is Big Moose and Little Bear, at least for today anyways. It's about 27 degrees, I'm going to say,
and we're going to measure the temperature of the water before I attempt to take a dip.
It's dropping fast. So 15 degrees Celsius, that's like 60 something odd Fahrenheit. Three, two,
one. Don't hurt yourself. Oh, we totally need your floaty. You could just float on down.
Look at him go. Hey, this is fun. It's a lazy river. My butt hit a rock.
We're at a lookout, the Cascade lookout in Manning Park, and it's beautiful. What's on this side?
Oh, you're so cute. I don't have any food for you. He must've smelled peanut butter on my fingers
from the pretzels that we ate earlier. But he's so cute. Oh, oh, hello. People feed you too,
don't they? They're very curious. They're very friendly. I'm sure someone feeds people.
They've probably been very well fed, unfortunately. But they're not like overweight. Well,
that one's a bit chubby. So these are yellow pine chipmunks, and then the bigger one was a Cascade
golden-mantled ground squirrel. If you come up here, bring bug spray.
Mosquitoes are really, really thick. They're all over Chris's back.
So the paintbrush trail, nice, easy walk. Tons of mosquitoes. So just like coat yourself in deet
before you walk this trail. Otherwise, you're going to get eaten alive. I've gotten a couple
bites. Mel's gotten lots of bites. So beautiful scenery, nice alpine meadows and flowers,
So we're pulling out of cold water campground here at Manning, and we've just had a pretty
close call with a tree coming around the corner. I'll just show you real quick. Jay has had to get
up on the roof. Solar panel caught a slight branch. Sorry, tree. Sorry, solar panel.
Any damage? Uh, everything looks good as far as I can tell. So if you happen to have a larger rig,
just remember as you're pulling out wide turns, sometimes the trees just kind of sneak up on you.
That was close. I just glanced in my mirror and all of a sudden like, whoa, tree out of nowhere.
Coming on that little X turn, I took it just a little bit too close. And let's say we got a
branch caught on the solar panel. Nope, it's all good. Unfortunately, we found out much later that
it wasn't all good. The tree had punctured a few small holes in our delicate rubber roof.
Lesson learned. If anything brushes up against your roof, do a very detailed inspection
and take it in for a professional leak test as soon as you can. More to follow on this topic.
After our stay in Manning Park, we continued east and stopped briefly in the cute little
town of Princeton. And that was part one of our Fruit Loop. Be sure to stay tuned for parts two
and three coming soon. If you enjoyed this video, we'd really appreciate if you could give us a

We're at the Looky Lou Outlook. Outlook? Very textured, very like,
flowy looking. They're really...
