Today is the day we finally get to put together the all new for 2024 Elite Ethos.
I ordered this bow approximately eight weeks ago from a bow shop here in Ontario.
It has finally arrived. I also have some components I'm going to attach to this
when I do this bow build. It will not be the final
components. I do have a couple of other things that are on order that were mistakenly ordered
in error from the store and the wrong items showed up. So I have rectified that and they
will be arriving shortly and I will then put those on. But for now we're going to get it set up,
we're going to get it tuned, we're going to get it shooting an arrow,
and we're going to put on the accessories I have in front of me. So without further ado,
let's check out what's in the box. So in the box you get your beautiful bow, you get your new hat,
you get a welcome manual, owner's manual, and you get your limb stops which I will be installing.
The limb stops roll around and hit this right here for an absolute rock solid back wall.
So I'm going to go over the specs of the bow first, get you acquainted with this,
talk about why I chose this bow this year over other bows that came out,
what attracted me to this bow in the first place. So this is the 2024 Elite Ethos.
It is 33 inches axle to axle. It has a six and three quarter inch brace height
which is a nice thing to see with a lot of bows that are coming out. This brace height is getting
shorter and shorter and shorter to increase the speed of the bow. I like the longer brace height,
it's more forgiving. Speeds on this bow is 340 feet per second and again that's with 350 grain
arrow so we're not going to be getting speeds like that. Generally the speeds are about
10 feet per second less than that anyway but either way I'm using a hunting arrow so it's
going to be less speed than that but I'm going to be shooting for around the 280-285 feet per second.
These are the 75 pound limbs that they came out with this year for the Ethos.
So it weighs in at 4.5 pounds. Draw length is adjustable on the cam from 25.5 to 31 inches.
It comes in 40, 50, 60, 65, 70, and 75 pound weight options. It has the set technology which
is the simplified exact tuning where you can rotate the limb pocket to help fix paper tears.
It's got a beautiful riser. This is the midnight copper color which is really awesome and something
to see. It almost changes different shades in different lighting but it is a brown,
more of a browny copper color which is awesome and it's kind of a matte finish so it's not
it's not a high glossy finish that you have to worry about. They've got the LTR roller guard
they've had in the past. Winner's choice strings come standard on this bow.
They've got this small stubby stabilizer on here so you can put your stabilizer in the
regular stabilizer mount or you can put it on the bottom and make some matching. Take this on or off
switch them however you want. For me I'm going to be using the regular stabilizer mount and leaving
this smaller stabilizer, smaller stubby stabilizer on here. It's very well balanced
in your hand. I'm going to take this off for now while we set it up. It's got a rear stabilizer
mount at the back, a back bar mount. Aside from adjusting your draw length you can also adjust
your let off. You can go from 70 to 90 percent let off. I'm going to put it right in the middle
at 80 percent and again it goes from 25 and a half to 31 inch draw lengths. This SP cam has
quarter inch draw length adjustments. Elite was one of the first to come out with that.
Other companies have followed suit over the years but with the quarter inch adjustments you can
fine tune where your draw length is perfectly fitting for you.
So that's also an awesome feature. So even though this is a 33 inch axle bow it feels at full draw
like a 35 inch axle bow. It is being compared to their old energy 35 model and the reason for that
is when your cam rolls over the height of the peak of the cam gives you that extra string angle
on your face which is a lot more comfortable and feels like a larger bow that is going to aid you
in your shot. The V3 mods on here come with the performance mods installed from the factory.
There's also a smooth mod you can get. I'm going to keep the performance ones on here for now.
Get as much speed out of it as I can. Again like I said this is a 75 pound
weight option. I haven't had a 75 pound bow before but I'm finding that as the years go on
and the technology improves these bows are getting are feeling
easier and easier to draw back even though we're getting more and more
experience with our bodies going through the motion. It feels like the draw weights are
getting easier and easier as the years go on. So you can also order a 65% mod which will
lower your holding weight. For those of you that like to hold more weight like target shooters
will tend to like to hold more weight in the back wall. You can get another mod that will
aid you in doing that. The Delta VRT system helps reduce vibration at the shot
making your aiding in your shots being more and more repeatable making you more and more accurate.
So in this here we have an awesome sticker for the bow case. We've got a owner's manual
and we have the limb stops. So I'm going to start putting this together. I'll get it set
to my draw length and then I will get these limb stops in and we'll go through the process
together of building this bow. Elite also has 19 color options. So they've got this being
midnight copper. They've got a number of other colors 19 colors in total. They've got solid
colors. They've got bright colors. They've got camo and then they've got the darker colors. So
check out the website for more information on the color palette. All right we're good.
I'm going to throw on the rest. This is a drop away rest. It's just an old trophy taker
Smackdown Pro. Throw this on for now and put on the new rest when it comes in.
Another nice thing about this bow are the wide limb pockets which help
balance out the weight. It'll be a nice sturdy platform. So we're going to make sure that this
to four and a half inches long. You're going to fluff it. All right so once you have your D-loop tied
make sure you cinch it. Get that nice and tight. That's coming together. It's looking pretty good.
Feels amazing. Let's take a shot. Get a look at what we're going with here. I'm going to put those
limb stops in. That flies. 75 pounds. Wow. All right let's keep going. Let's throw this sight on.
See what this is all about. This is a pretty cool vice. So far so good. It's made overseas
but it hasn't done me any wrong yet. I can't complain about it. It's actually been pretty
good. Throw these stops in. That is rock solid. That's crazy. All right leave it there for now.
Let's throw this sight on and see what this CVE Trek Pro Micro 3V is all about.
This device is really versatile. You can hold it in so many different ways.
All right so we're going to want to make sure that our bow is level again.
We can check for second and third axis with the sight once we're ready. So again this is the CVE
Trek Pro Micro 3V. 3V meaning three pin vertical. I've always shot horizontal pins so this is going
to be a completely new thing for me. Shout out to C.J. DiBattista and Gary Baldwin, Brother83
from the Full Draw podcast. I was talking to them about upgrading my sight because I wanted a slider.
As soon as I started seeing reviews about the CVE I loved so much about it. I loved how it has metal
sight tapes. It just looks like a fantastic, there we go, fantastic sight all together.
From Color Rings it's got a gray one that's on it and then here's your metal sight tape. What's
great there's a number of these to choose from but what's great about sight tapes being metal
is that you don't have to worry about a sticker coming off in the rain, in different weather.
Here's the tool. There's a spot here for a sight light. It also takes clarifiers and it'll take a
magnification should you need it. It's got the dual leveling pins so you can see
what your top pin is and what your bottom pin is. It went with the 0.10 pins, nice and small,
better for long distances. It's got this hood here that you can cover with fibers so you don't blow
out your pins. It's got too much light going through. There's so many awesome things about
this sight. It's so beefy, it's awesome. So we're going to throw this on. We've got our sight on,
the bow is level, the sight housing is level. Bow is level, looking good. I threw the bow in the
put-together bow. Okay now we're going to take some shots. It doesn't get any more rock solid
than hitting the lip stop. Okay we're going to take a couple shots through paper.
You know well I did on this build. Here we go. You've got to be kidding me.
What? We bought the bow, we built the bow, we shot the bow. This Elite Ethos,
new for 2024, is absolutely the best bow I've ever shot. That is my own personal opinion.
I've been shooting this for a few days now and I am unbelievably accurate with this bow. I cannot
believe I've never been more accurate with a bow than I have with this bow. I love the cam. I love
how adjustable it is. You can adjust the lead off, quarter inch adjustments. I love the riser look. I
love the cutouts. I love the 75 pound limbs. I love the fact that I get an amazing string angle
when this cam is fully rotated over. I love the winner's choice strings. I love the noise
which is next to nothing. It's a pop. Pop. That's it. There's no residual vibration.
There's no residual noise. It's just a pop. Pop. Arrow's gone. It's incredible. Absolutely
incredible. This grip, I've never shot a bow with a grip that didn't have some sort of rubber
over top of it. This grip does not have rubber over it and is absolutely incredible. It is
repeatable. The way that it's designed, the curves, the slight curving and contours on the top,
just completely, your hand just naturally fits right in there making it repeatable
which is the, that's what archery is. It's trying to make it a repeatable skill over and over and
over again so you can be accurate and I have never been more accurate with a bow than I have with
this bow. So I urge you to head on over to your local pro shop. Give this bow a try. If you are
in the market for a new bow, the ethos should be in the range of the bows that you are trying to
shoot to decide which one is best for you. Do not leave this out of your selection. It is absolutely
incredible. Head on over to your pro shop. Take the shootability challenge. Elite urges you to
go and shoot their bows. Report back. Hashtag shootability challenge. Let everybody know what
you think. Elite also has a hunt guarantee which means if you are out hunting, I'm going to say
this is going to be for North America, but if you are out hunting and you run into a problem
where your bow malfunctions, something breaks, whatever the catastrophe is, you contact Elite.
They have a hunt guarantee that they will ship you out within 24 hours to your location,
a new bow set up to your specs for you to continue your hunt. I don't think another company offers
that. That's pretty incredible. All you would have to do is obviously sign in for the weight of
arrows that you have, but that is a pretty awesome offering from Elite. That hunt guarantee is
amazing. When the Ethos was announced and I got a look at it, I knew I needed to own this bow,
not only because of the look of the riser, but for everything else that I've already mentioned
here today and all of the technology and functions that are packed into this bow to help you,
the archer, be the most accurate shot you can be. This is going to be the bow. It's the bow for me.
It might be the bow for you. Make sure you head on to your pro shop and check it out.
