In this eye-opening video, we uncover the 8 Huge LIES about buying affordable retirement homes that no one is talking about.
Whether you’re looking to retire on a budget or just want to make an informed decision, this video will give you the insight you need to make the best choice for your golden years. Don't let misleading information trap you in a less-than-ideal situation!"
If you're looking for a place of your own that you can afford to retire to, you might
have heard some really crazy, ridiculous stories about high costs, terrible places, and a lot
of stress.
So today we're going to set the record straight with eight huge lies about buying affordable
retirement homes that nobody talks about.
So let's debunk these myths and get you correct and accurate information that you really need.
So here they are, the eight myths in descending order.
Lie number one, all affordable homes, they're in poor condition.
Now, just because a retirement home is affordable, it doesn't mean that it's falling apart, guys.
So many inexpensive home options are in well-maintained areas with a great living environment.
And it's all about finding the area that works for you and fits your budget and your price
range and where other like-minded individuals are moving as well.
For example, you can still find brand new homes in South Carolina that are 30 minutes
to the beach starting at $275,000.
Lie number two, you're going to sacrifice quality for affordability.
Now, lie number two, many people believe that the lower cost automatically means that lower
quality.
But in reality, buying an affordable retirement home in a right location can offer you a higher
standard of living.
Now, it's essential to compare what you're getting for your money and the correct location.
But many seniors in Florida thought it was a great place to retire, but now they found
out it's a disaster in Florida.
With higher homeowner's insurance, hurricanes, higher taxes, and healthcare that's lacking,
quality isn't about the price tag.
Remember, the good is seldom cheap and the cheap is seldom good.
Lie number three, affordable homes are located in less desirable locations.
Now, this is a common myth that buying an affordable retirement house to live in, it's
going to be located in an undesirable area or some kind of a remote area.
And many affordable homes are actually located in great locations close to amenities like
shopping and healthcare and recreational facilities, like where I am today in Conway, South Carolina
or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
But when you're looking in any area in the nation, just make sure that you're checking
that community's location and see if it meets your needs and your preferences.
You might be pleasantly surprised.
Lie number four, there's no choice or variety in affordable homes.
Now, this is another misconception that affordable homes, they offer limited options.
But in reality, there's numerous choices available with various floor plans and styles.
Of course, when you own your home, you can decorate it, you can furnish it however you
want.
Now, since you're moving, this is always a good time to start with some fresh looks,
some fresh options.
So maybe you previously liked traditional or country farmhouse style.
Now would be a perfect time to change it up to mid-century modern or even contemporary.
Now, many seniors, if they were going to do this again, you would highly recommend no
steps, single floor living with a straightforward layout that matches their lifestyle and their
preferences.
You also want to think about what your needs are right now, but the floor plan that you're
going to need five years from now.
Things like walk-in showers and toilets that are actually taller than standard toilets.
These are called comfort height.
You want to think forward to what your needs are going to be.
Lie number five, you won't get any personalization and very little customization.
Now, some people, they think that buying an affordable new construction home is not going
to offer you too much in the way of customization.
While that may be true in some cases, my real estate team has actually found some communities
that are offering many options for you to personalize your own living space to cater
to your needs.
Now, some people, they'll prefer a sunroom or a Carolina room while others, they want
a fireplace.
I get it.
So it's really important to know your desires when you're talking about potential homes
and you're on tour.
So ask about those customization options.
That's what my team does every day and they're good at it.
They can show you what's within your budget.
You might find more flexibility than you actually expected.
Lie number six, affordable home communities, they have hidden fees.
Now, there's a belief that affordable homes will hit you where it counts with high HOA
fees and homeowners association fees.
This could be true in some communities, but I've also, on the other hand, seen HOAs as
low as $7 per month.
So when you're touring these properties before you purchase, you want to make sure that you
know everything that you can.
Make sure you get a copy of the deed covenants so that you know the rules.
You get a copy of the current meeting minutes to see what's happening in that community.
You get a copy of the current HOA budget to ensure that the HOA is flush with cash and
they're not asking you for a cash call after you move in.
So you want to make sure that there's no future assessments, no pending litigations, any kind
of lawsuits that are pending.
This is the kind of stuff that my real estate team gets for our clients and we want to make
sure that you're avoiding the pitfalls that are costly and you're finding your hidden
gem.
Lie number seven, affordable homes, they don't offer any social activities.
Some people actually think that some of these communities lack any social opportunities.
But many communities that are here in Myrtle Beach, they have pools, they have clubhouses.
And one community that many of our clients love, the monthly fee is only $57 a month
and they actually have a really nice pool.
Another popular community our clients love has a vibrant activities program and social
events that are designed to keep residents active and connected.
And homeowners enjoy their low HOA fees of $102 per month.
Lie number eight, finally, there's misconception that 55 plus communities have lots of rules
and high costs.
Now, I will let you know that some of my team members actually live in some of these communities
so they would know.
And they can tell you the good, the bad, and the actual facts because the truth is not
all 55 plus communities are equal and not all of them are the same.
So you need to know what's really going on and the other things to consider about 55
plus communities before you decide.
Just realize that 55 plus communities aren't all equal or the same.
You can get everything from a custom multi-million dollar home to a simple condo.
So the range is all over the place.
Now if you choose to purchase in a 55 plus community, many offer on-site amenities and
social events to encourage physical and mental activity.
Now these events can help residents connect with neighbors and enjoy a sense of community.
Since one household member must be over 55, most community members will be your age or
older.
So no matter where you move, just don't view one community or one neighborhood.
Set an appointment to talk and visit with a local expert.
This can be eye-opening to see all of your best options, not just one or two.
You know, the glossy brochures, they're real nice, but they don't give you the whole story.
So no matter where you're looking in the United States, anywhere in the nation, that's the
truth.
I hope this video clears up some of the myths and gives you a better perspective to explore
