Of all the amazing European destinations,
I could now say that Spain is one of the best countries to visit.
There's just something about Spain that's so charming and timeless,
that vibrant culture, just delicious cuisine, architectural marvels,
just friendly people, and just so much more.
I think Spain has something to offer for everybody.
So, vámonos, loves, and spend the summer with me in Spain.
Salud!
Let's go!
Guys, this is my home in Madrid for the next three, four days.
Here's the bedroom.
That's the office area.
This beautiful door over here with the black panels,
and a bathtub with curtains.
My God, I'll have an ice bath here.
Beautiful toilet, good space.
Wow!
You can see inside, it has a curtain.
Okay, and then here, guys, my favorite feature of the hotel.
The beautiful terrace.
I wanted to make sure that we got a beautiful view of the streets here in Madrid,
and the popular sunlight of Spain.
This is my home in Madrid for the next couple days.
See you later, guys.
While I'm loving the tiniest details of this room,
it's the Spanish-dubbed Simpsons that really brought a smile to my face.
To fully immerse myself as a Madrileña for a few days,
let's walk to Chueca, which is known as the gay neighborhood here in Madrid.
Let's head on to the heart of Madrid, the Plaza Mayor.
It's a must-see and a symbol of the city.
Did you know that this plaza is 400 years old?
And I really fell in love with the colors here.
The terracotta, the red, the brownish-red of these buildings.
Then the moonlight, the blue of the moon.
It's so in love.
And just like that, it's dinner time.
If you want to taste the essence and flavors of Spain, this is a go-to place.
From boquerones, my favorite, to Italian cheese, Spanish cheese,
tortillas, all of the amazing Spanish food.
It's a gourmet food market, a little bit touristy,
but I would say still authentic to the flavors and all of the local products from Spain.
Everything you're craving for, from savory to sweet to everything in between,
is here in this market.
It's an easy Sunday morning here in Madrid.
El Rastro is open on Sundays, and today is flea market day.
El Rastro was really organized with 100,000 people visiting this open market
to look for different treasures, different gems,
and just like me, I fell in love with these hand-painted ceramics.
I really like tableware, dinnerware, anything I can really use to entertain people at home.
And it's not just that, guys.
While shopping, there's also a jazz performance, a street performance, right?
So aside from sombreros, clothes, summer dresses, and summer outfits,
and basketbags, and whatever else,
we have good music that's perfect for a chill Sunday morning.
One of the things I set out to do here in Madrid is to find the best gambas in town.
So ito na nga, it's dinner time, and we are at La Casa de Abuelo.
Gambas lang talaga yung pinunta ko dito, guys.
Alam nyo bang everything is served as they were a hundred years ago?
After dins, let's go get some churros and chocolate here sa Chocolateria San Ginés.
Napuntahan ko na to nung college ako.
Ganito kasik yung chocolate nila, hindi lumulabog yung spoon at all.
She's sick, you guys.
What's the best way to discover Madrid?
For me, I think it's through what they do best, food.
So with Anton, our tour guide,
let's do a traditional and non-touristy tapas tour in Chamberry, Madrid.
So we're in Ponsano, calle de Ponsano,
which is a street known for the best local tapas and drinks.
So they say if you can make it in Ponsano, you can make it anywhere in Madrid.
So let's try their tapas, pinchos, and drinks here in Madrid, Spain!
That's chili, that's a spray of chili.
So to start the tapas tour, they've just served us a great serving of vermouth,
which is actually a wine.
It's a fortified wine paired with toreznos,
or kung sa ating mga Kapinoy, parang bagnet.
Yun pala ang bagay na match.
It's a vermouth with bagnet.
Good manners to leave the last piece.
In Spain, no.
In Spain, no leftovers.
So the last piece has a name.
The last piece is called la elabera huerta.
Kabalik na rin pala dito sa Spain.
You have to take the last piece to save the group from the shame.
So someone has to go for the piece of shame.
And sometimes people can see, they can be like,
well I'll take half of that.
You see that, I'm alone with them.
I'll do it.
So go kuya!
Take one for the team!
Go, go, go!
How do you say cheers?
Salud!
It's called The Flames.
This is 52 years old.
52 years old.
It's a family-owned business.
That is not the pork though.
That's beef.
Oh, that's a beef.
On to our next tapas spot.
Bolzano.
Dos tres blancos.
That means three white wines.
Dos tintos.
Two red wines.
Un culin de blanco.
That means, for me, un culin is like a finger of wine.
Un culin, we call that in Spain.
Because culin means a little ass.
Oh, sure.
Like a pinch.
Wow.
It means up, down, center, inside.
It's a darker color.
It's a dark green.
And it's not really...
It has a more bitter taste.
If you ever eat an olive straight from the tree, it will be so bitter.
So this has a higher smoking point.
So we don't use it for cooking.
We can, but it's a waste.
Because you basically need to burn the food.
So we use it for salad dressing.
Put it on at the end.
On top of your tapas.
Para la chica.
Aquí.
Cheers!
Para la chica.
Sea salt.
Thank you.
What did you say about the sips?
You can see, like rings on a tree, how many sips you've taken on your beer.
Oh my god.
That's like privacy policy.
That's a good way of knowing if you're drinking too fast, you're drinking too slow.
These are decent.
So guys, I'm sorry, but I'm not a big beer drinker.
Kaya good thing, siniba ko ni kuya.
OMG!
Siya pala ang unong ng beer ng buong group.
Kaya tagay na!
Salud!
Let's go!
He's still downing his beer.
It's so funny.
You good?
He had everybody's beer.
That was a good pairing.
Beer and octopus and anchovies, right?
You're gonna have pork in particular.
I know you don't really go for pork that much.
Vermouth is really good with pork because it's a sweet drink.
Oh, that's true.
Pork pairs the best with a sweet or a bitter sweet drink.
Oh, good to know for my family.
My family's pork eaters.
Yeah, and you know chicharron.
Yes.
So if you want to get them a sweet vermouth or a sweet drink for chicharron, that's a very good pair.
Or a sweet red wine.
I can do that in the Philippines.
Para las Filipinas!
Now, let's go to our next tapas spot, Alipio Ramos.
This place is 180 years old.
It wasn't always a tapas bar.
It used to be a bodega.
There's a wine in this.
You can see the little taps.
Because it was not a bar.
You had to promise you don't bottle.
Contracts, bills, the tickets, luxury.
Wow.
With a food pairing and perfect combination,
at this spot is the sangria with Spanish omelette or tortilla española.
One last drink and that's it for the tapas tour.
I really enjoyed it.
Day four and today is all about shopping.
We are here still in Madrid, Spain.
And I can't wait to show you guys around.
But I will just take a look and see where the wind blows.
See you guys later.
They have a few hidden gems along the way like Mercado de la Paz,
which is another food market.
And they're also known for Casa Dani,
which has some of the best Spanish omelette or tortillas in Madrid.
I actually headed to a cafe nearby to take a quick coffee break.
Hi guys.
Thank you so much.
Next, I looked for this abubot store called Peseta.
After that, I had to get another coffee.
So I went to what became one of my favorite cafes here in Madrid called Osom.
And what?
Hello.
Hello, hello, hello.
Adios, amigos.
For dinner, let's go to Tapa Tapa.
Actually, this is a safe bet if you're looking for tapas and a lot of hidden gems.
And I don't think this place will ever really disappoint.
Just kidding.
Okay, no, it's not.
I only saw this on YouTube.
It's part of people's tapas cron.
So this is called Pescadito Frito de la Lonja.
This is €6.75.
And basically, I like having my little bites with Tinto de Verano more than Sangria.
It's another kind of wine, but it's fresh and made for summer.
Cheers to Madrid!
This is my new friend, Carlas Kol.
Or what was it?
Yeah, it's Carlos.
Carlos Kol.
Yes.
Nice to meet you guys.
And now, and he's a swimmer.
So I don't know if you caught swimming, but I'm with a swimmer right here
who competed in the Olympics.
And in the Olympic Village, he was eating muffins.
And what happened?
He got how many million views?
Yeah, I got 4.5 million in like four days just by eating muffins.
In the Olympic Village.
Just chat about his training, about swimming, and competing in the Olympics.
And the whole Spanish Olympics swim team is on this plane.
So here's the Spanish team.
Hello, coach!
Hello!
So you're a Filipino-American friend.
Muffin coach.
The muffin coach!
So congratulations on Paris 2024.
And we're gonna be praying for you for LA.
LA.
2028?
2028.
Yeah, go for gold, Hispania!
Do you know Carlos Yulo, a gymnast?
He won two Olympic gold medals for gymnastics this year.
So it's the first time that the Philippines has a male Olympic gold medalist
and a double gold medalist for gymnastics.
Yeah, that's insane.
I think if there's some young people watching this,
then you should get inspired and just follow your dreams and have fun.
It's so important to have fun.
And how do you choose your sport?
What's your advice for people?
Yeah, I would say whatever you do that makes you more happy,
just choose it, you know?
Don't do it because your parents tell you to do this
or somebody else tells you to do it.
You should do it because you really enjoy it.
And just, yeah, follow your heart and that's it.
And everything will be alright.
Oh, that's so nice!
Thank you, Carlos!
Let's enjoy this flight.
Yeah.
I was so serious in this picture, I know.
I was so serious.
Look at him now, smiling.
Because it's vacation time.
Yeah, finally.
Gift.
Gift for her.
It's a gift.
A little pin.
Español.
I'm gonna pin this on my bag.
Souvenir.
Thank you.
So that's it for my Madrid vlog, you guys.
And I hope you enjoyed strolling along,
strolling around, wandering around,
and just getting to know the city with me.
So like, share, and don't forget to subscribe.
Thank you so much, you guys, for being here.
Muchas gracias, besitos, y adiós!
Hasta luego!
