At first, I thought I was not like my fellowmen.
So, when I got angry, they shot me.
I am a former member of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.
At that time, I also believed in God.
Because of the influence of my fellowmen in the service,
I believe that God will protect us.
Before I joined the Church, I used to drink.
I used to drink a lot.
That's why my father used to look for me.
In the villages.
Do you know Rex?
No, I don't.
If I go home, it will be too late because of my addiction.
When I joined the Philippine National Police Academy,
I was 18 years old.
I graduated at the age of 20 years old.
I listened to Brother Eli in 2001.
It was an accident that we saw on television.
Brother Eli was preaching.
I was there with my fellowmen.
I saw that Brother Eli's preaching was right.
So, I immediately burned the booklets.
I burned the booklets.
I also burned the medallions.
I received the teaching that God will protect us.
For almost two weeks, we were looking for someone who can preach to us.
At that time, there was no local congregation in our area.
I was with my family.
My wife, my sister-in-law, my brother-in-law, my cousins,
and other relatives and our neighbors in that area.
We were 15 when we were baptized.
With the help of God, we were 15 when we were baptized.
We were baptized on April 13, 2001.
We were the first to be baptized in our local congregation,
in the local congregation of Tartaria, in Silangkabiti.
A few months before I was baptized,
we had a police operation.
I was one of the first to enter our target group,
the members of the library hold-up group.
Every time we had an operation,
I asked God not to fight the suspects or the people we were going to arrest.
Because I was afraid at that time that I might be killed
because of the teachings that I heard from Brother Eli.
A soldier is also like that.
You are not allowed to kill,
but if you are going to kill, for example,
you defended yourself, you were killed,
you were shot, for example, you defended yourself, self-defense,
that is not killing, that is defending yourself.
In 2017, the war in Marawi broke out
where I was ordered to lead a special action force in a combat group.
There, I saw that there was a huge responsibility on my shoulders.
At that time, I always asked God to accompany me in our operation.
We needed to relocate,
or move because the enemy burned out our position.
I was the first to walk at that time.
I was let down.
At first, I thought my comrades were going to kill me.
When I was let down, we were shot.
At that time, I didn't know where the shots were coming from
because the bullets were flying.
After the encounter, we were able to return to our position.
The witnesses, my comrades, were taught
that if I wasn't shot,
I would be shot in my face.
Here, I saw that God guided us.
Every day, I pray that no one will be hurt by my comrades
and that we will be able to return to our family.
In my group, there were two brothers who were with us.
We were also greeting each other.
I told them that we should open our YouTube channel
so that we can watch the videos of Brother Eli.
At that time, we were with Brother Lambert,
with Colonel Suerte.
We were able to share with him the teachings that we received.
At that time, Brother Lambert didn't know the way.
When we returned home, I joined him.
The war continued.
We fought for five months.
A lot of things happened.
I can't even imagine how we were able to survive.
I thank God.
We were one of the few casualties in the unit.
There was a local who told me that
Brother Suerte was trying to save our unit.
I told him that God will save us.
When we returned home,
I felt that God is the only one who can save us.
It doesn't matter if it's a virtue or not.
Since I became a police officer,
not only in our encounters,
but also in many other things,
I can say that nothing can compare to the blessings we received from God.
I am Brother Rex Arvin Malimban,
and this is the story of my faith.
