Nothing stays the same for too long in our ever-growing and fast-paced world.
At one point having a single job was fine to ensure a good life and a future,
but with inflation, war, food shortages,
things are changing really fast and the need for new skills is even more important.
Skill learning is as important as water these days,
especially with the increasingly high rate of unemployment, even in developed countries.
Having new skills improves employment prospects and lowers crime rate in society.
Why would people turn to crime if they've got well-paying jobs, right?
But not everyone wants to learn high technical skills from scratch.
Luckily, there are a lot of high-impact skills you can learn regardless of how well-prepared you are.
In this video, we'll take a look at 15 high-impact skills you can learn on your own.
Welcome to Alux!
Number 1. Community Building
A lot of people don't understand the power of being able to build a community.
Knowing how to gather and entertain an audience
is one of those skills that can take you from zero to hero.
Literally everything is built around communities and the leverage you get from it is unmatched.
We need to be a part of tribes, it's in our human nature.
Have you ever thought to yourself,
man I wish someone would make an event based on the things I like.
Well, you can be that person.
Number 2. Coding
Everyone's doing it, so why don't you join them?
The world is going full-on tech.
Almost everyone has a computer of some sort, be it your laptop or mobile phone,
so technology is already a part of our human existence and coding slash IT is the future.
While some tech courses can be daunting,
giving yourself time to understand them will do magic and in the end you'll be glad you did.
There are several websites where you can learn coding and introductory IT courses for free.
So why not take a bite from one of them?
You never know, it might just be what changes your life.
Number 3. Writing
Writing is one of those high-impact skills that flies under the radar for most people.
You don't plan to sell novels or anything, so why would you pick this up?
Well, we'll tell you why.
It has immense leverage.
You're communicating with people every day.
Now try to think for a second, when was the last day you didn't have to write something?
A message, an email, a description, a tweet?
People have made entire careers writing twitter threads and building communities.
Writing also has immense benefits for your own personal health.
It clears your mind and helps you to see things the way they truly are.
When you write every day, you essentially trap your thoughts into the physical plane.
That is a superpower.
So how do you pick up this skill?
Well, just start writing every day.
Open up a google doc and write whatever crosses your mind every morning.
The way to be a good writer is to first be a bad writer and then make a second draft,
pretending you knew what you were doing all along.
Number 4. Storytelling
This follows writing because they're kind of similar.
Storytelling is one of the most important parts of everything we do.
Advertisers, marketers, entertainers, teachers and writers all employ a certain degree of
storytelling, making it an important skill to have.
Storytelling entails much more than only getting your point across in a simple and understandable
language.
Mastering certain fundamental storytelling strategies can help you to become a more
confident author, public speaker, teacher or even a dinner party guest.
Good storytelling may even help you to win more friends and be more confident and outgoing.
And it doesn't take too much to learn.
Number 5. Photography
Photography is one of the most sought-after skills in the world today and for good reason.
Pictures hold memories and no matter how old-fashioned a person might claim to be,
they'd always crack a smile as soon as they have to take a picture.
If everyone in the world loves taking pictures,
wouldn't it be a good idea to have some more photographers in the world?
Whether you're just getting started and require a beginner course
or you're more experienced and need more in-depth instruction,
there are many resources online that teach photography techniques for free.
Number 6. Graphic Design
Right next to photography is graphic design.
Graphic design entails creating logos,
banners and other graphic arts for websites and social media accounts
and it's referred to as a skill in high demand.
Many basic and expert graphic design courses are available online,
allowing users to build a foundation in color,
layout, typography and other design-related abilities.
I should also add that graphic design is relatively easy to learn
and doesn't require a lot of technical knowledge.
Number 7. UI Design
Just like graphic design,
UI design is a skill that primarily revolves around designing a structure.
It's the design of an app that you simply can't stop staring at.
UI design is a subset of website design that's concerned with giving users
an enjoyable experience while also using an application.
If you love design but want to go into something more technical,
then this should definitely interest you.
Number 8. Curating Knowledge
We currently live in a world of over-information.
Everyone shares their thoughts and opinions about everything.
It gets increasingly harder to cut through the noise and get to the bottom of what you're after.
From this, a new skill emerged which, again, flies under the radar for most people.
And that skill is curating knowledge.
Very few people manage to say anything new or interesting.
Most of it is regurgitated knowledge someone else said and it just goes on and on.
There are probably millions of business books out there,
but you can find all that knowledge distilled in just a few handful of them.
Knowing what those handful of books are means curating knowledge and it's valuable to people.
Curating knowledge means cutting through the noise and getting to the essence.
And you know, in a way, that's what we do with a lot of our videos.
Number 9. People Management
Do you consider yourself a genius when it comes to organizing and managing people for certain occasions?
While this might seem like a pretty normal skill to you,
it's actually a life-changing skill that could earn you a lot of money.
This is because human management is considered to be an in-demand skill in today's world.
And how to best hone these skills?
Well, put yourself in more positions where you have to work with more people
and you'll become even better in no time.
Number 10. Connecting People
We have a dear friend who seems to always know at least one person from every possible room you throw them in.
His ability to connect people is mesmerizing.
This skill has allowed him to build big events from scratch,
find the right people to fill in gaps and open up a lot of doors.
It's not really about how famous or how important you are,
it's about how well you can connect others and how open you are to different ideas and worldviews.
Connecting people can turn into a business in and of itself and it's something anyone can pick up.
Number 11. Podcasting
Radio 2.0 is making a huge comeback.
As it turns out, people don't have a problem tuning in to long-format content.
We bet a lot of you are listening to at least one podcast weekly.
Our favorite one is the Tim Ferriss show.
There's a reason Spotify threw bags of cash in Joe Rogan's face to lock in his podcast.
Imagine having your own radio station you are in full control over.
It's also incredibly basic to set things up.
Pair this skill with connecting people and you're on the right track.
Public speaking
There are millions of public speakers and most of them don't have anything interesting to say.
Yet they still seem to make a living of it, so what gives?
Well, most people are terrified of public speaking.
The fear of embarrassment trumps every other emotion.
Actually, 73% of the entire population is fearful of speaking in public.
Many people even put that fear above spiders or even death itself.
So if you acquire this skill, you instantly have something 73% of the whole globe doesn't have.
That is valuable through simple math.
And the way you look at this is pretty straightforward.
Can you talk with 2 friends at the same time?
How about 5, 20 or 100?
Slowly increase this number and the fear of public speaking won't be a thing anymore.
Number 13. Video editing
Here we go, another technical skill on the list.
Every minute videos, totaling 500 hours, are posted to YouTube from all around the world.
On top of this, millions of hours of videos will be added once you finish seeing this video.
Because of this, video editing and filmmaking are among the most lucrative skills to learn today.
Storytelling is important in developing content
and videos communicate stories more effectively than pictures and words.
Naturally, more individuals and businesses are producing videos these days.
If you've always been fascinated by videos and the process that precedes the final result,
then video editing could be the perfect fit for you.
Number 14. Learning a foreign language
The growth of globalism has fueled a surge in worldwide trade.
However, since not everyone speaks English or your country's language,
communication problems might occasionally arise.
Fortunately though, translators may assist in removing that obstacle
and simplifying communication processes.
Mastering several languages can lead to many opportunities
and Chinese, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic
are a few of the most advantageous and profitable languages to study.
Number 15. Teaching
There's a common misconception around the subject of teaching.
We're always prone to believing that everyone with a skill can teach that skill to other people.
But factually speaking, this is not correct.
Teaching is a unique skill which requires months of practice to master.
And since humans will always be on a quest for knowledge, teachers will always be in high demand.
And that's it from us today Aluxer,
we hope one of these skills on our list resonated with you and you're learning more about it.
We would love to see how you can grow into an expert in record time.
