Welcome to the beautiful summer archipelago of Scandinavia.
I'm heading out with my small boat to this island
and on the way I managed to catch a few small perch
which I can eat. I do have some provisions with me
but I'm very happy to get some extra food.
After a few hours of fishing and some cozy rain
I head out to the island which is about two hours away from where we started.
Here we are on the island. I have selected my campsite
and with me in my bag I have my wool blanket
and my favorite sheepskin which I will sleep on.
I do not need a sleeping bag nor a tent for it is warm
and salt it with my salt and pepper mixture
before heading to sleep. In this beautiful morning
it is now time to start finding materials for
decided to build my shelter as well. There's limited amounts of materials on
this island so I'll make the shelter very simple.
There's not much dead trees laying around which would be very useful
for building a survival shelter. I'll see what I can do
with what I find. Now the base structure of the shelter is starting to look
much better. I'll certainly have a cozier night
and I happened to find a lot of these green very useful bushes
nearby the shelter and started collecting a lot of them
of this foliage I'll actually have the possibility of
creating a waterproof roof which would be pretty exciting.
But for this night it's mainly going to protect against moisture and wind.
Now it is time for a breakfast. I'm preparing a fireplace so I can cook
around the rocks of the fire to have a slow cook
and a lot of smoke flavor. The perch are among the best tasting fish
in the Baltic. They have a lot of flesh and easy to pick
something. There's more materials available. I found these
reeds on the shore which I use to build the walls
of the shelter. These are easily picked by hand
using a knife. For the next hour I continue working even
though I'm a bit tired. I stack on more of these bushes and of
the reeds to make a thicker windproof wall.
To rest on an island in the middle of nowhere listening to the birds
I figured I've used up pretty much all of the bushes and the
reeds near my campsite so I find some of this
seagrass to continue building the shelter.
Many people ask if there's some dangerous animals
in the wilderness where I'm camping and for this video in particular there's
no dangerous animals at all. The most dangerous creature
is actually the tick. The tick may carry
Lyme disease but you can get rid of it by eating a lot of garlic
cozier and to improve the wind resistance of the
area around the campfire I carry some large
around this environment and I might have forgot this snake.
It is venomous but I do consider it pretty much harmless
because it usually just slithers away if you make yourself heard.
Now it's the fourth day on this island. Doing all of this physical work
and maybe sleeping in a sub-optimal position
on a pretty hard surface makes me feel a bit stiff
and I need to open my body. So naturally I grab a stone and start working out
but only lightly because I do not have that much food with me.
If you want to get in good shape you can actually just
train for free outside. You don't need to have a gym.
There are several options such as stones, your body weight
and the trees to do pull-ups from and in cities you usually find
these outdoor gyms which are very nice to be around.
Did you know that swimming and sunbathing actually is not
just about having a good time and enjoying nature.
It actually makes you recover quicker from whatever you've done
if it's work, training. It gives you free energy
in terms of ATP from the sunlight and grounding from the earth and the
water which helps you heal and connect.
In terms of provisions I've had with me some meat,
fruit, eggs and cheese but most of that has run out so I'm very
happy to catch this large perch. I must admit I'm actually
surprised to catch this fish out here in the archipelago far from
the mainland. Usually when I catch something it's much
closer to the mainland inside of small islands.
This time when setting up the campfire I'm gonna try using
this flint and steel instead of my matches.
luxurious perch fillets I place them on top of a rock
some time on this island. It is now time to head back home.
I'm glad you watched this video and I hope that you
stay tuned to watch the next adventure and as always
don't forget to get out there.
