"Hello, viewers! My name is Laurentius Allen Sylvano and currently, I'm studying at Xiamen University Malaysia. This video is part of my course, which is Philosophy and Education. Nevertheless, this video aims to make math and philosophy accessible to all. I'll provide clear explanations, break down complex concepts, and look into the historical and philosophical aspects of mathematics. You can expect informative videos, animations, and in-depth explorations of these topics.
Whether you're a student looking to enhance your knowledge or someone with a general interest in math and philosophy, our channel offers an educational and enlightening experience. Let's learn together!"
Hello everyone, my name is Alan and I'm a passionate mathematics student.
Today we're going to talk about the fascinating world of mathematics.
And today we're going to talk about one figure that is very popular among mathematicians and also among students.
He is Pythagoras.
Talking about Pythagoras, of course you guys have known about the Pythagorean theorem.
Yes, that theorem that looks like this.
Yes, this is also the same theorem that makes a lot of students suffer for the first time ever.
What is a square? What is b square? Why it is equal to c square? And what's forever?
However, aside from the proof and calculations, Pythagoras wasn't just a mathematician or even a really busy mathematician.
He was also a philosopher which believes that the universe contains a lot of numbers that is like a tune in a cosmic and eternal symphony.
Imagine the universe as a magnificent mathematical masterpiece and Pythagoras was the philosophical maestro.
His ideas were as mind-expanding as the cosmos itself.
According to the internet of his philosophy, Pythagoras found a school called the Pythagorean school
where he and his followers known as Pythagoreans explored a wide range of subjects including philosophy, mathematics, music, and astronomy.
So, that was the first time where the Pythagoreanism is born, which is the philosophy of the Pythagoreans itself
which means the interconnectedness between the education and the philosophy.
Pythagoras also introduced another philosophy called metaphysical idea.
What is that? It is basically a concept or an idea where numbers have a mystical and symbolic significance.
Basically, he said that every numbers have essential of reality in here and every number is unique and special in every single forms.
Which is also why he said that it is one of his philosophy and it is connected with his mathematic professionalism.
In the next one, he also believed about reincarnation and transmigration of soul and then ethical teachings and then secrecy and then selectiveness.
There's a lot of it.
Pythagoras' ideas also had a profound influence for later philosophers most notably Plato and Aristotle.
While Plato was heavily influenced by Pythagoras including the importance of mathematics in philosophy,
while Aristotle, he thinks that Pythagoras was one of the most significant contributors of early philosophy.
So, in the end of this video, we notice that Pythagoras was not only popular for Pythagorean theorem which a square plus b square equals to c square.
He also was not only a mathematician, he is also a philosopher and educator.
He believed in interconnectedness in knowledge and he also believed that mathematics bring a lot of influence in later philosophy.
He teach about ethics, metaphysics, reincarnation, and secrecy about a lot of things in his work.
That's all the video for today. Thank you for watching and have a great day. Bye-bye.
