HOW TO SOUL GRIND - Rollerblading - Tip Trick

That's a good intro.
This is a good intro.
What's up guys?
Okay, this is actually the intro.
So today I'm going to be trying something different for you all.
I want to start a new series.
It's going to be a trick tip series.
After we lost Amor,
the best trick tip series is now very dated
and it's never going to be remade because Amor doesn't exist.
So I thought, I should make one.
So today, I'm going to be learning how to do the Soul Grind.
To learn a Soul Grind you need two things.
First off, a skate park that isn't wet.
But I'm a bit unlucky in that case.
Second off, an obstacle.
An obstacle I'm going to recommend you to try it on is a ledge.
This is quite a big ledge.
I'd go for something a bit small.
It'll be good to show you.
This is what it looks like.
You've got one foot on the self-weight.
One foot on each foot, toe going inwards.
Most of your weight should be on your self-weight.
This one, the one going this way.
And this one's just kind of here to help balance.
You should almost be able to take that foot off.
But you shouldn't take it off.
To help you learn which foot you should use.
A good rule is the foot you kick with.
Like kick a ball.
This is the foot, your primary foot, the sole foot.
Because it's going to take most of your weight.
So you want it to be your strong foot.
But some people are different so don't be weird
if you're the opposite to that.
It's just a good start.
So one of the hardest parts is learning how to get your foot
on the sole plate.
So to learn this, what I want you to do
is just practice stepping into it.
Just do that like a hundred times.
Maybe not actually a hundred,
but keep doing it until you're getting it every try.
And then try a little hop into it.
Still stepping, but
hop into it.
Once you get those two down, then I want you to
straight jump two foot into it.
And try to get the other foot on at the same time.
Once you're getting that every pop,
then you want to try
follow up to it.
And hopefully you will learn the sole grind.
Just like that, you've learnt the sole grind.
A huge thing I want you guys to focus on too
once you've started sliding the tricks
is I want you to really focus on jumping two foot
into it. It doesn't count until you're jumping
two foot. Stepping into it is cheating.
I'll show you the difference.
This would be stepping into it.
Really focus on that.
I know it's harder but you'll thank me later.
So both your feet land at the same time.
And both feet take off at the same time.
So when you first learn the sole grind,
you've got to be coming out forward like this.
Another good thing to learn is to spin out of it.
If you ask most rollerbladers,
the trick doesn't count until you're at least 180 out.
So you should be aiming to 180 out.
Whatever way feels more natural to you.
I find the easiest way is just to come in that way.
But some people find it easier to go the other way.
And from there
you can also try to three out.
Which is a lot of fun.
I'll do one for you.
So once you're getting on the trick,
sliding off every time, you find it hard
to hold it.
Big trick is what you want to do
with your sole foot.
You want to get it,
you don't want to be flat like 90 degrees on it.
You want to tilt over it like this.
This took me so long to learn.
But it makes it so much easier
to hold a long sole grind.
This will put your body more over it.
So you should pull your shoulders
more above your foot.
And you should be able to hold it all the way to the end.
And you'll be killing it.
So look at your feet, look at the end of the obstacle.
And it'll help the most out of anything.
If you just look at the end of it,
you'll generally make it there every time.
The good thing about
once you've learnt the sole grind,
is it leads to a lot of other tricks.
So once you've mastered the sole grind,
and you're getting out like every pop,
I want you to try the Mizu.
It's the same thing, but instead of this foot going here,
this foot goes behind.
And then once you get that down,
you can try Acids, which is like a sole,
but with your heel in first.
You can try just Machios.
You can try Four Stars.
Just on one trick,
you've learnt like five.
So it's a good trick to learn.
So with that, hopefully you've learnt a new trick.
Let me know if you guys want any more details on any other sole tricks.
I know I kind of glossed over them.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below.
I'll be in there answering questions.
Give me some feedback too, let me know how the tutorial was.
Hope it helped you out.
Thanks so much for watching, and I'll see you next week guys.
Out.
