This is the continuation of my "Diary of a Volcanologist" series. This time my work in Peru, see the accompanying blog post, here: http://www.volcano-blog.com/blog/fieldwork-and-workshop-on-peruvian-volcanoes-the-journey-begins
Hello everyone, and welcome to the continuation of the diary of a volcanologist.
So, last time I left you, I was in Nicaragua, this time I'm in Peru.
And we had a long journey from Sheffield, we left on Saturday morning at about 5am,
and we got off at Canary Keeper, which is where I'm staying,
Keeper to this volcano Ubanass in the background.
So I'm hiding behind the car because it's really windy.
And last time I did these, the wind was messing up all the sound.
So, I'm behind the car today.
So this is Ubanass, and we're very high, we're about 4000m high.
And I don't want to do much exercise here because you can be very short of breath.
So the journey from Arequipa to Ubanass took about two, two and a half hours.
This is a good portion of the road.
And at the moment we're trying to measure some gas, again using our UV cameras.
You should be able to see that in the foreground there.
