LAJOIE / LAGHA (CAN) | Ice Dance Free Dance | GP Final 2023

Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagat. Just beautiful work from Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagat from Canada. It's hard to imagine that we can see five more wonderful free dances. They have such quality across the ice. And they will be relieved, I am sure, to have delivered the clean free dance following the mistakes made in the rhythm dance. Such stark contrast in the stylization for this, the Michael Jackson performance of yesterday, showcasing their versatility. And they are very keen to push in and amongst the medal contenders. Fascinatingly, Zachary had explained that making the final was their main goal for the first half of the season. Cryptically not alluding to what is the goal for the second half of the season, but I have to assume with the World Championships and their home training base in Montreal, that aspirations are high. Look at that commitment to the fingertip extension. Here entering the difficult entry for the straight line lift. Right to the fingertips, from fingertips to toes, was the exit of the choreographic spinning movement, one of the three choreographic elements they chose to do. Here the jump entry into the back outside edge of the twizzle. Right arm aloft, that's a feature as well. And sticking close to one another. That proximity to one another can aid and enhance the grade of execution. It will be the positive features that they're chasing. The teams know so well that they need plus 4s and plus 5s in the grades of execution for these elements to make changes in the result. As we see the choreographic lift that they've used since their junior world title. Continues to amass more of those positive features. Higher grades of execution, more points, more points, more prizes. And that's what Marjorie and Zachary want as Roman applauds them ringside. Good to see smiles from both Marjorie and Zachary today. They struggled at the start of the season. They were sidelined in the off-season with injury a little. But now really coming into form, heading towards the IEC Championship events. 124 points from the Cup of China. Trying up that here. But they seem satisfied. We'll wait to see what will happen. Nobody achieved a personal best in the rhythm dance.
