Today we're going to talk about a beautiful and very popular breed.
The Golden Retriever.
Owner of a stunning beauty, the Golden Retriever attracts eyes wherever it goes.
It has a robust and elegant appearance.
With a good-looking face that gives the impression that it is always in need of attention for everyone.
It's almost impossible not to fall in love with a specimen when we find it on the street.
This attracts a lot of people wanting to have this beautiful dog.
But is the breed an ideal dog for your family?
Find out by watching this video.
First, let me introduce myself to you.
My name is Aninha Campos, I have been a trainer for 11 years for Cão em Foco Educação Canina.
And before we start, I want to invite you to be part of our family of dog lovers.
By subscribing to our channel and following our videos,
which are released every Tuesday and Thursday about dogs and cats.
The biggest physical feature of this breed is its long and silky golden fur.
Its extreme docility is recognized by everyone and only increases the fame of this beautiful and furry baby.
So, if your intention is to have a Golden Retriever of guard and protection,
it's better to give up this idea.
Because it's easier for Golden to invite the bandit to come in between kisses and hugs.
To keep this fur always beautiful, silky, without knots,
it is necessary to brush at least twice a week.
And take to the pet shop about twice a month.
Not to mention the high quality food.
Whether by ration or natural food, it must be well balanced and in the right amount.
No more, no less.
Containing all the nutrients that the breed needs.
As for extra vitamins, I can only warn you not to use it without veterinary guidance.
Because excess nutrition can cause serious health problems instead of improving.
Also beware of obesity.
The breed is gluttonous by nature.
And if the owner doesn't control it, the dog easily becomes a ball.
We cannot fail to mention that the breed has a high tendency for allergies and dermatitis.
If your dog shows any skin or fur change,
take it to the vet quickly and do constant treatment and maintenance.
Also beware of dysplasia, femoral scab.
In addition to asking for a reward for the creator of parents and grandparents,
proving that none of them had dysplasia, be careful with the floor of your house.
If it is too slippery, it can generate this dysplasia femoral scab.
And if the dog is obese, it gets much worse.
To make a happy Golden Retriever, it is not very difficult.
Just have some balls available, water, toys to carry in your mouth.
We must also pay attention and be willing to take it for a walk every day.
Socialize it with other dogs and children.
All this will help to keep your dog much more calm and balanced.
The energy level of a Golden Retriever is very high.
It is a work dog and it has enough structure to be a great companion in physical activities.
He loves it and needs to sunbathe and run.
For athlete owners, it is the ideal dog.
But if you are not an athlete and live in an apartment, you can still have a Golden Retriever.
It easily adapts to an apartment.
It loves and needs to be with the family.
It is definitely not a dog to stay in the backyard alone.
But you need to be aware of the basic needs of this breed and meet them.
Take it for a walk at least twice a day, for an average time of 40 minutes of constant walking.
This will help a lot to make it feel good.
Also make interactive toys available to occupy the time and stimulate the dog's mind during the day.
Not forgetting that training is very important for a breed like this one that is energetic and very big.
Now we can't forget that he's a dog that doesn't like to be alone.
Whether in the backyard or inside the house, you have to be very careful not to develop separation anxiety.
And explosions of hallucinating joys when the owner arrives.
Avoid reinforcing this extra joy, as it can become a serious behavior problem.
Where the dog can self-mutilate for being alone.
Separation anxiety is a serious problem.
And if you work during the day, the dog can become a very big problem.
To help a little with this dependence on Golden's company, think about having another dog.
This can help a lot, or leave it in a crèche.
Another feature of the breed is the level of intelligence.
This dog stands out in learning, but I will be honest.
Having an intelligent dog is not an easy task.
He tends to be a little stubborn and tends to ignore the owner in some situations.
This happens because he knows how to dribble the owner.
And he knows his family's weaknesses very well.
To control Golden well, the owner has to have a lot of waist play.
And know how to reinforce good behavior very well.
With other animals, Golden does very well.
Knowing how to socialize him right, everything works out.
But have special care for birds.
Because the original function of Golden was to look for birds for hunters.
So it is preferable that you get used to the dog from puppy to pet.
The Golden Retriever is a great work dog.
In the police, he is a great smuggler.
Finds drugs, people hidden or lost in rescues.
He is also a great dog therapist.
They have a very high sensibility to deal with people in need and sick in hospitals, clinics.
And they also act as a guide dog and in the treatment of people with physical or intellectual disabilities.
As in the assistance of donors of Down syndrome.
But not everything is gold.
Popular and disputed dogs suffer when they fall into the wrong hands.
People end up acquiring the puppy without knowing the temperament and its basic needs.
And they go out procreating the dogs without any knowledge.
And they don't control the pattern or behavior.
If you decide to have a Golden, look for a specialized dog in the breed.
Meet your parents and ask for health reports so as not to have an unpleasant surprise.
Not uncommonly, there are cases of aggressive Goldens in a specific situation.
Mainly with possessiveness to objects.
This is usually a consequence of this uncontrolled procreation.
Don't buy puppies from people who don't know anything about genetics and procreate just for money.
Don't finance the black market of puppies.
Be careful with fairs and pet shops.
And of course, buying a puppy from a suitable dog may cost a little more.
But be sure it will cost much cheaper than having a puppy with a dysplasia cochifemoral and or aggressive.
So that's it guys.
