Trust me when I tell you, this is the most bizarre tennis match you will see today.
Two years ago, Nick Kyrgios and Yannick Sinner faced off for the first time.
Two players with two completely contrasting personalities.
Tennis wise, this was an exceptional and very high quality match.
However, during the majority of this match, many things were going on other than the tennis itself.
Now without spoiling anything, feel free to hit the like button and subscribe to my channel for more original tennis content.
Thank you so much for watching and without further ado, let's get started.
Is back in a big way.
Includes Sinner in the last couple of weeks.
This man, Nick Kyrgios.
That'll wake him up, though.
Sinner's target.
Early mumbling from Kyrgios.
I think he's saying the conditions are completely different today.
He's just saying about the court speed.
They had to wake up. Sinner made sure that he was.
And Kyrgios accepts the challenge.
Says, OK, young man.
Well, I think this is a win already for Sinner that he's just got Kyrgios a few mutterings to himself,
which I don't think we've seen over the last few matches from Kyrgios.
Recognition and why sometimes you just for quarterfinals for a third time.
Already starting to put himself in.
It wasn't the cleanest hit, but they're delighted nonetheless.
See, it's just simple.
Get a quality first serving.
Again, saying it's completely different.
He's feeling like the court, the speed, the conditions are just not the same as they have been the last few rounds.
Sinner managed to get the job done.
Well, if Kyrgios is starting to lose a bit of focus, that bodes well for the 20 year old Italian.
And they're on serve in set number one.
Oh, here we go.
Center court is completely different to the grandstand for some odd reason.
Might as well be grass and clay.
What a joke.
Disgrace.
Oh, the sleight of hand.
Little tennis equivalent of a pump fake.
Has it looked crossed? No.
Carefully watched.
Already an enthralling 30 minutes as expected.
No breaks through seven games.
First break point.
A shot.
Buster from Yannick Sinner.
As he conjures up.
High octane offering.
Facing break point from Kyrgios.
He put on the afterburners, Kyrgios.
And just able to clip it past Sinner.
Thank you.
For Nick Kyrgios, he gets the job done and chastises.
Ladies and gentlemen, please.
Kyrgios just saying to Carlos Bernardes that this.
Oh, here we go.
It's almost going to get another one in response to the warning.
Choice.
Being told to stay off that channel and back to work as Sinner.
And another ace skids past.
So Kyrgios going from displeasure to being outright perturbed.
How is that possible?
And you guys just can't do your job.
It's embarrassing.
It is embarrassing.
Get a new set of referees.
These guys don't know how to do shears.
Well, he's got to be careful.
He's not just criticizing.
It's a joke.
In the grandstand.
A displeasure.
Get rid of every single staff and start over.
Everything.
I'll run the sport.
He's almost going over the line there.
Yeah, he's getting pretty close.
I understand.
The derailing part of Kyrgios in this opening set did not come to fruition.
With his fourth ace for five all.
The music was starting up.
Walkie-talkies going off.
DJ playing music.
Court not playing to his liking.
Sinner not cooperating.
This one's got a little extra keen interest in.
I can't.
Just some shouting out during the point.
Get a good look.
Capture at the first meeting between Sinner and Kyrgios.
And Sinner makes it 11 straight holds.
It'll be up to Nick to continue the trend.
Or he'll fall behind the Italian.
Chaos for Kyrgios.
And he likes that one.
Quick.
Oh, there goes the racket.
You've got to say it.
It has been coming, that.
He's been simmering.
Well, he took a lesson out of Andy Roddick's book.
If you saw Roddick's post of how to throw a racket from the other day.
After the Jensen Brooksby interview.
But Sinner's taking control.
Why are you engaging yourself in conversation with us?
Meanwhile, he's the one who turns around and talks to him.
You tell me how to play tennis.
I wouldn't ask him, meaning Ben Stiller, how to act.
Yeah, Ben Stiller's not here today, I don't think.
Maybe Owen Wilson's here somewhere.
Nice return.
Francis Siafoe's father courtside to watch as a point penalty is awarded to Sinner.
Bernardes has been patient.
I think so.
I don't think he can have many complaints here at Kyrgios.
Meanwhile, as it all goes, Sinner just going about his business, doing what he has to do.
And he's got a set point.
And Kyrgios faults away the game.
So the tiebreak goes to Sinner.
Kyrgios, who'd lost a total of nine games in his opening rounds, upended.
What is unsportsmanlike?
I was talking to my friend.
Get me someone.
Get me someone now!
And Kyrgios comes undone.
Game penalty, Mr. Kyrgios.
This is getting worse and worse for Nick Kyrgios.
Twice, once the warning.
And of course, the point penalty, and then slamming the racket into his bag.
His doubles partner inside the stadium is finding his stay.
Game penalty awarded between the sets.
Sinner serving one love.
Second set.
Someone just tried to, or did run onto the court, tried to take a selfie with Nick Kyrgios.
So good from Yannick Sinner, who goes about his business.
Now trying to weather the storm, the emotional aspect that Kyrgios presents.
And so with only one service game in the second set.
Of course, right now, a must hold.
Directed towards Carlos Bernardes.
And he's, this is getting a bit unfair against the umpire.
Yes, Kyrgios has a lot of fans, but Carlos Bernardes and all the umpires,
they play a very important part in our sport as well.
And what he's done is play some terrific tennis over the last couple of weeks.
If only the focus was always solely on that.
Because it's meriting that kind of attention.
Quality control by Kyrgios.
Thus far in Miami, Yannick Sinner has been an absolute testament to resilience.
The second racket he's put into the crowd today.
He did one before the match even started as a gift.
Good game this.
I think some of the fans are now openly turning on Carlos Bernardes.
Well, an audible appeal to Kyrgios in front of everyone.
Trying to hold the crowd from becoming a mob.
And this is a tough environment for him at the moment.
He's got a job to do.
And sometimes he has to talk.
Now he could give Bernardes an earful if he wanted to,
instead of from the baseline.
Monster serve.
Well, I think Carlos Bernardes has picked out somebody in the crowd
who was shouting at him.
Take him out, he says.
From 30 combined for this set.
Both virtually untouchable.
Serving at a high clip.
Ace number eight.
Tremendous reflex.
Twice.
They should stand for that.
Well, so far at this event, last year's runner-up has been a testament to resilience.
To patience.
And today focus.
A major hurdle to get over in what was an absolute
theater of the absurd at times inside the grandstand.
It was chaos out there.
But Sinner, the coolest head in the house.
Without question.
Nick thrown off his game so much so that he forgot his Air Jordans
and had to circle back to get him.
Had to pass Carlos Bernardes again.
Game.
Get your popcorn ready.
Because I guarantee you have never seen and will never see
a tennis match like this ever again.
