What's going on guys, Brunswick 31.
I appreciate you guys tuning in.
So in this episode, we're gonna be testing the effectiveness
of the MACV SOG inspired uniform.
Now, if you don't know what MACV SOG is,
I highly encourage you to go listen to the Jocko podcast
with John Stryker-Mayer to give you a good understanding.
They were a unit that operated during the Vietnam War,
and frankly, they operated in areas
that they weren't supposed to be,
i.e. Cambodia and Laos.
And their stories are just amazing.
There's a lot of good books that have been written
about them.
Nonetheless, guys, they had a lot of leeway
on what gear and equipment and uniforms
that they could wear.
The big thing was their stuff was sterile, right?
So it couldn't be tracked down to the U.S.
But they came up with a lot of concepts back then
that are essentially mainstays of modern day,
i.e. they'd modify their jungle utilities
with extra pockets, especially on the sleeves,
like we see on all U.S. military uniforms nowadays.
And they did stuff like apply camouflage,
their own camouflage to the standard OD jungle fatigues
to give it its own original camouflage pattern.
Now, not all units operated the exact same.
Not all units did this,
but this is definitely one variety
that some of the recon teams did.
So today, we're gonna take a look
at this particular modification,
the application of black stripes to the jungle fatigues
to help break up its outline.
Now, obviously, we're not in the jungles of Southeast Asia,
but it's pretty green out here,
so maybe it'll give us a good understanding
of what it looked like in the jungles during that time.
Thanks for watching.

Well, that's it, guys.
That completes this camouflage maintenance video
over this MACV SOG-inspired uniform.
If you like what you're seeing,
don't forget to check out my channel and subscribe.
I've already done several camouflage maintenance videos,
and I also plan on doing several more in the future.
Also, I wanna note, I've got a gear,
MACV SOG gear video coming out soon,
which is with help from my good buddy Bruce at Camp Armit.
There's also gonna be a part two
to this MACV SOG-inspired uniform video
where I will test the effectiveness
of all black-dyed jungle fatigues,
because that is also something
that some of those recon teams did.
Thanks for watching.
