MACV SOG Black Jungle Fatigues Camouflage Effectiveness

What's going on guys? It's Principal31. I appreciate you guys tuning in. So this is part two to my MAC V-SOG inspired uniforms for camouflage phegnus videos. If you saw part one, I tested the jungle fatigues where a lot of the MAC V-SOG recon teams would take field expedient camouflage and add to their regular OD jungle fatigue to help break up the outline. This in part two is black dye jungle fatigues. Now, a lot of you are probably asking why on earth would they do that? Because, you know, we're all taught that too much black sticks out in nature. Well, two important reasons that you gotta take in consideration. One, the area that they're operating in, Cambodian Laos in the deep jungle is triple canopy jungle. There's a lot of darkness, guys. A lot of shadows, very dark environment. And so it's not necessarily a bad thing to have black in your utilities. So, you know, you think about the Viet Cong wearing black pajamas running around, you know, but, you know, Viet Cong, NVA are synonymous with camouflage, right? People always talk about, oh, the trees are speaking Vietnamese. Well, they were known for how well they were camouflaged and a lot of those guys were running around in black pajamas. So, hey, MAC V-SOG, black dye jungle fatigues, you know, might blend in pretty well in the triple canopy jungle. Now, we don't have triple canopy jungle here, so we're gonna have to make do. Also, another reason is, hey, if you have a uniform that looks similar to what a lot of the enemy's wearing, it might buy you that extra second that you need if you have a chance meeting engagement with the enemy. They might see you, automatically pops in their head, hey, that might be friendly. They hesitate. Well, MAC V-SOG operating behind enemy lines in Cambodia and Laos, hey, there ain't no friendlies out there. So if you bump into the enemy, it's weapons free. Click that baby on Foliato and go to town. So that is another reason why some of those Viet Cong team members might've been wearing all black dye jungle fatigues.
