Alex Morgan wins Best Female Athlete, USWNT takes home Best Team ESPY | 2019 ESPYS

And the SB goes to Alex Morgan. Sorry, but this is probably the second best trophy we won this week. Thank you all so much and congratulations to all the incredibly talented nominees and powerful women in this category. I think about the greats that have won this award in the past and I'm just so honored to follow in their amazing footsteps. They not only won championships and countless records but were an inspiration to so many including me as I dreamt of playing the sport that I loved. As athletes, we try to surround ourselves with the best people to help lift us up and help make this journey possible. And I'm so fortunate to have that in my life. First, my teammates. We did it! I love you guys like sisters and I have 22 best friends. To my family, you mean everything to me. Servando, you are my ultimate teammate. And I can certainly relate to the challenges that I face every day as a professional athlete. I love you. To my parents and sisters who are here tonight and have been by my side all month in France and every day prior, I'm here standing tall and living my dream because of you. Finally, thanks to ESPN for this award and also a big thank you for investing in the NWSL. With our new television deal, we obviously enjoy the success on the biggest stage right now. But when the World Cup is behind us, it is the professional league that we need to continually lift up and grow. Investment in women and girls should not only occur on the playing fields but in more storytelling of badass, amazing women who continue to show that we are more than just athletes. Thank you guys. And the winner is, all those in favor of equal pay say aye, the Women's National Soccer Team! Wow, it's amazing. We literally just got off a plane a couple hours ago, got hair and makeup in the plane and we look pretty fabulous, I think. Thank you to ESPN, all of our followers, supporters around the world.
