Fall is Here | Embracing the Change of Seasons in the Nordic Mountains #39

The fall is here. A time to let go of everything from summer and prepare ourselves for the colder
season ahead. Autumn in Norway is something truly special. The wind begins to change
and let the air feel crisp. The landscape transforms into a palette of golden leaves,
deep reds and shades of orange, yellow and brown. The long days of summer fade
and the low autumn sunlight creates a warm glow over the mountains and fjords.
This is the time when I feel the most inspired to be creative.
The first snow arrived here in the last days of September and there will be months of snow
here where I live. And by the end of the winter you might feel like you've seen enough of it.
But this first snow after summer, it feels special.
We are grateful for the beautiful summer we've had.
But before the first snow covered the mountaintops, we went to the river close to our house,
enjoying nature together, finding mushrooms and picking the last berries.
The autumn season is definitely my favorite.
Please let me know in the comments below what your favorite season is and why.
I love autumn because of the cozy atmosphere, the soft sunlight and most of all the beautiful colors.
I often dream about having an outdoor kitchen in the future,
where we can prepare food from our garden and cook meat or fish from the island.
Last week when we drove to the city to do some shopping, the nature was really beautiful.
The combination of green grass, autumn colors and white snow on the mountains made it very special.
We live about a 50 minute drive from the city and usually we go every two weeks for some shopping.
Sometimes a trip to the city can be a little bit hectic.
There's a lot of things to explore for the kids
and a lot of things we need to get done before we drive home again.
After visiting the library on the island, it was time to stock up the firewood.
Unfortunately, a very strong wind caused a tree to fall on the road by our house.
No cars could pass, so we had to remove it.
Our barn also needed some emergency repairs, a project we had planned for later,
but now it couldn't wait. We had to fix it before the first snow will come in.
When the storm was over, the kids and I drove to our favorite beach nearby.
The sun is now very low in the sky and unfortunately,
the beach was in shadow this morning, but we still had a lot of fun.
The kids had to get used to not being bare feet in the sand and swim in the water anymore.
There's something truly magical about the ocean.
I've heard so many people talk about its peaceful energy and I feel it too.
It's always so healing, standing by the shore.
You can feel stress and tension fade away, carried off the sound of the waves.
It's a place where you can really breathe and let go.
Our son, who has a lot of energy, really needs to be active every day.
I do my best to make that happen for him, and I think that he feels the love for the ocean too.
After we got home, we enjoyed fresh bread from the baking machine.
Thank you for watching again. I wish you all a beautiful week,
