Everyone few years I fly to London to visit family. With plans in place for travel this summer, I thought now would be the perfect time to show how I pack for a two week trip with only a carry on bag. Check out this pack with me video for minimalist packing inspiration and tips on how to travel lighter with only one bag.
Every couple years my wife and I fly from Chicago to London to visit family,
and with our summer plans finalized, I thought this would be a great opportunity
to show how I pack for a two-week trip with just a carry-on bag.
This is the Cotopaxi Alpa 35 liter backpack. It comes in at 22 inches in height, 12 inches in
width, and 10 inches in depth. It's made with nylon and polyester, and it's a pretty heavy
duty bag. I've had this one for a few years, and it's held up pretty well. It comes in at $200,
so it's more on the pricier side of bags that I usually cover on this channel,
but in my opinion, it's definitely worth it if you plan to use it on a two-week trip like I do.
I really only ever use this bag if I'm going on a trip for longer than a week.
One of the things I like best about this bag is this huge interior zipper compartment.
Usually on this right side is where I'll keep all of my clothes.
The smaller one here on the left is where I'll keep any extra shoes that I want to
bring along and my toiletry bag, and then up top I'll have some accessories.
On the back, there's a zipper that goes down the side, and that gives you some quick access
into that larger pocket that we just looked at, and then there's another zipper on the other side
where you can keep your laptop. Lastly, there's another pocket in the front,
and that's going to be for any other accessories you want to bring. On my trips, this is where I
usually put my Switch or my passport, my wallet, my phone, as you'll see later on in this video.
Before we get to packing, let me show you what I'll be wearing on the flight.
And first, we're going to start off by organizing everything.
For this trip, I'm going to bring along seven days worth of t-shirts, underwear, and socks.
I'll also be bringing along some laundry detergent so that I can do wash in the sink
halfway through the trip. I'll show you that a little bit later on.
But as for shirts, I'm going to be bringing a couple long-sleeve shirts and then the rest t-shirts.
I'll also be bringing along my Adidas rain jacket, as you saw in the travel fit.
This will be really useful in London since it's notorious for rain.
I'll also be bringing along seven pairs of boxer briefs,
as well as these Adidas shorts, which I can use to lounge and sleep in or just wear out.
Next will be these dress pants from H&M, which I can use if we need to go out to a nicer dinner.
Next is this bag from Top Drawer, and this will house my Reebok sneakers. I'll be wearing the
Birkenstocks on the flight, but then I'll have the Reebok sneakers for walking around
and doing everything in London. And as you can see, I'm packing my socks in the shoes,
thanks to some of the comments I got in the past, definitely utilizing this trick for this trip.
Since this is quite a long trip, I will be bringing along my Nintendo Switch, too,
so I can play it on the flight. And as you can see here, I'm sticking with the Kavu
Dopp kit. This has all my toiletries that I need.
Next, since we'll be traveling in the summer, I'll be bringing along my Ray-Bans.
And if we get tired of watching movies or playing video games on the flight,
I'll bring along this deck of cards, which is really useful to kill some time.
Next is my go-to wallet from Comme des Garcons, my passport, of course. I'll bring along my phone,
as well as this denim hat that I love from the surfwear brand Almond.
And lastly, I'll bring along my chargers for the Switch, my charger for my iPhone,
as well as my headphones. I still use the wired ones. I like this adapter because I can plug it
into my iPhone, but then I can also plug it into my Switch. It's really versatile.
And then lastly, here is the detergent from True Earth. And this thing is really great.
You can cut this right in half, put it in the sink, let it fill up, and then you can
wash your clothes by hand. It's really easy to do. It takes up zero space in your bag,
and I highly suggest it for a trip like this that's two weeks long. So now let's get to packing.
So
and that's gonna be it. That's how I pack for a two-week trip with just one carry-on bag.
