Spark plug showing just a little bit of heat with a time and mark right in the bend right
there.
I'm going to call it a very conservative tune up.
We are showing some heat, but still plenty left on the table.
All right, we just finished peeping on this Boost Line Performance 408 here at KP Racing.
Customer brought us this piece a few months ago, hunting for more power.
We've done a few things.
We sent the ProTroger off and had it upgraded to a D1X and had their cog system put on it.
We went with a custom grind cam, changed compression, just worked on things, trying to maximize
the combination.
The thing that you'll see in the video that Chase is going to put together, that it had
an air-to-air intercooler, and we tuned on it a lot with it.
Struggled to tickle 900 horsepower with the thing.
Honestly, didn't realize it was restricting us so much.
After some discussion and talking about the thing, we decided to ditch that air-to-air
and put a Snow Direct Port water-mass system on it, and built this new charge pot just
to eliminate that intercooler.
Immediately, back-to-back, no other changes, picked up just a tick over eight pounds of
boost, and went from that 900 mark to right to 1230.
I'm really happy with the tune.
The plug is still showing stupid safe.
There's some left in it, but man, they're going to go have fun with this thing, and
it should give them a lot of service.
Brent, coming from Snow, I'm amazed that more racers aren't ditching their intercoolers
and going to a Direct Port to take care of intake temperatures.
There's a lot of benefit to it.
It really is.
It's hard to get people past that threshold of something could go wrong, right?
Because the past has shown that some of the older designs with similar systems and stuff,
they've had issues with the pump.
A lot of guys are worried about, man, if that pump goes out, my motor's toast.
Yeah.
Well, we have a similar concern here.
That could happen, and we want to eliminate everything we can.
With y'all's little manifold and the pressure sensor, we're feeding that Holley Term-X pressure
that's being fed to these distribution blocks.
What I did is I just set up a custom table so that if that pressure goes away, I'm yanking
all the time now on the motor so that it can't hurt itself.
It's just going to nose over.
Drivers not even going to know what happened.
Not a lot of people know that we have that.
Not a lot of people know that we came up with that little pressure sensor deal.
Not a lot of people know that we've redesigned our pumps.
You know what I mean?
They have twin seals now.
It's a very, very, very upgraded pump.
We sell hundreds, and I can't tell you the last time we've had one fail.
Right on.
The benefits of ditching that intercooler, man.
I'm a racer.
I can tell you right now, it's all about power and weight.
Anyway, yeah.
You're ditching 40, 50, 60, 100 pounds off the nose.
Those things get heat-soaked, man.
They're metal.
They hold all ... They retain the heat.
They're cool for the street cars and stuff like that, but I really feel that this stuff's ...
I mean, you've proven it.
It made more power.
It made more boost.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I think Cody weighed this stuff, and it was somewhere around 60 pounds,
so he took 60 pounds off the nose of his car and just picked up over 300 horsepower.
It's just a no-brainer to me, especially with the safety.
Even absolute worst-case scenario, you may lose an aborted run,
but you're not going to hurt your mother.
Yeah, and that's the benefit of having that little safety.
I mean, the methanol injection technology itself has just come a long way
with some of the direct port stuff that we offer, some of the plates that we offer.
Like I said, the upgraded pumps, the safeties, just everything in general.
I think methanol injection is surprisingly better than a lot of people think.
You know what I mean?
I don't think people kind of give it the credit that it deserves.
I mean, it's a fuel that cools your motor.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, absolutely.
It's a very, very awesome way to kind of control the temperature inside of your engine.
Well, and a lot of guys might be wanting to turn up the power level, too,
and they're out of fuel system.
They don't have big enough injectors.
They don't have big enough fuel lines.
They don't have big enough fuel pump.
Whatever that situation is, it might be their limiting factor,
and now they can stretch that power level that they can safely make, too,
with the added fuel.
In this case, I'm running straight methanol.
A little bit about this combination, just in case you're curious.
In this case, it is a 408 Boostline performance engine.
It's got the RHS heads on it, pushing the boost to the Holley higher end.
We're controlling it with the Holley Term X system.
This is the ProCharger's bracket system for the D1X with the cog pulley setup.
Deeks works fuel system.
Deeks works injectors, and there's no direct port.
