UST vs. UP | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | UAAP SEASON 87 MEN’S BASKETBALL ROUND 2 | OCTOBER 13, 2024

Probably trying to address that as we are underway here in the second game. Arald Alarcon starts today and starts off the scoring for game number two. De Lesilda starts today. He also had a little bit of an ankle issue against DLSU the last time out. Good to see him healthy enough to start as Alarcon goes back-to-back. Watch this game on any device in the Philippines or abroad on the Pilipinas Live app. Now back to you, Blumenthal. Thank you, Cheska. First two points courtesy of Mo Tonkara underneath. I want to go back to Cheska's report a little later on, but first let's look at this Francis Lopez mid-range jumper. 6-2. Lopez is one of the better players in the UAAP, and of course we know he's very athletic. Patrigao with the floater. Baila. UMB will choke up a three off to the left. And Crisostomo loses the ball to Baila. Trying to get fancy in front of Baila. Three-on-three on the other end. Bounce pass to De Lesilda. Back and forth we go. Three on its way! Danding with a three-point shot brought to you by Yama Amiogir. Play your tough. That's a great move there by Alakhan. And he's going to have a chance for a three-point play. UPA in season 87. He has played off the bench for the first seven games of UPA. The takeaway by the Fighting Maroons. Three-on-one. Lopez! Smackdown time! At the Coliseum, this was the takeaway. Coach Norman, take me through it. Well, nothing that the defense could do on this as Lopez just has tremendous athletic ability. Our first quarter, Campanero, as we mentioned earlier, in the ballgame. Off the bench for the very first time in season 87. Manaytai puts it on the floor. Puts it up and in! Two-run, as Coach Norman said. Lopez popping out. Topside three. Gets it to go! He said that he hasn't come off the bench in the first round and even last year. So this will help in the contribution of the team overall. Continue to watch all the action here in the UAAP because legends start here. They spray it to the other side. He gets it back. He pulls up the three. Offensive rebound again for USD. Leavitt will line it up and gets it to go! Robinson pulls back. Penn decides to go. Robinson to the other side! They've killed it in a lot of players so far in this game. What a move there by Robinson. Starting on one side of the floor, ending up on the other. And it's worked well for both teams. They've been able to keep their guys fresh. That's a great matchup! Motunkara flexing his way! Play of the half brought to you by Mee Sin Cup Noodles. The official cup noodles of the UAAP men's basketball. Not that the guy who was defending him was skinny. Robinson. Take away by Felicilda. Robinson takes it back. But it is Lopez! Goodbye! The miss. The foul! With a minute to play here in the first half. Patrigao waving everybody else. Wants to take on Stevens. Double crossover. The spray to Caballero. Caballero for three. Got it! The first round matchup ended 42-40 in the first half. We're right there right now as Cagulanan! Waiting for USC. Patrigao! Bisostomo! Pull-up jumper! No! Motunkara! Yes! They will check that. 12 points for him as we send it over to Chescar Ramos. The UB Fighting Marines are in a tight match with the USC Growling Tigers. And Coach Gold is urging the team to stay focused and disciplined. With this momentum on their side, he emphasizes the importance of maintaining their intensity. Let's take a look at a couple of sequences here. Hoops all-pro play brought to you by FUMA. All the way for the crusher, Motunkara! Download and subscribe now. Now back to you, Boomin, Coach Nariman. Thank you very much, Chescar. Oh! What a shot by Alacan! A sensational move! UST is matching the athleticism. A great move here by Alacan. Look at that! Oh! Caballero with a set-up job to Laure Laure. Bisostomo! Felicilda! Lopez! Topside three! Yes! Torres is back. Lopez! Up top! What a play! What a down screen provided by John John Felicilda! Erasing the defender of Francis Lopez! 56-54 is where we're at. Spray to Tonkara for three! Gets it to go! 37 remaining in the quarter. 12 on the 24 for Teo for three. Good! It goes! It's a 12-5 run by UP. Manaitai! Breaks it! They love it, that's for sure. That's what the UAP is all about. That's the soundtrack. The backdrop of this exciting game. And we begin the fourth quarter with a scramble. And the crusher! No, no, no! He's a player. Let's look at this play brought to you by Skechers. Right at the dunker spot. Six ties. Right now, it's in the hands of Mo Tonkara. Double team on him. Patrigao shoots the three. Down it goes! That was a big shot there. In rhythm too, Coach Norman. A shot brought to you by Yamaha. Miogear, play your tough. That just gives USC a little bit of breathing room. Felicilda. That breathing room is four. Down to one! He told me, I need to step up every game. Especially since Maimai's role is really important. His focus is on consistently being ready to punt. For UP, Portea stays. They trap Caballero. Tonkara with the move. Tonkara goes to the other side. Rejected by QMB! That makes me try to bring even more energy on the court as well. Now as the match closes out, this type of positive and fiery energy needs to be kept up and absorbed by the rest of the Rally Tigers. Tonkara fades. That was a tough shot there. Asking for a fall too. 68-67. Portea, sorry. Patrigao, hounding Cagulangan. Cagulangan gets it back. Belmonte on top of the circle! Why not? Look at this play again. What I like is, JD, after he called, the shot was going in. Yeah, he did, he did. When he passed the basketball. Chickenjoy expands to the corner. Brought to you by Jollibee Chickenjoy. And of course, Belmonte, you have to run back. Like you mean it! Up top! What a pass by Reylan Torres to QMB! Patrigao dancing with Alarcon, making space, but denied by QMB. Recovered by USD. Pitch ahead! Torres bobbles it! And then recovers just in time! Will you be faithful? First game back for Maimai. In the fourth. A three-point shot has deserted the Growling Tigers here. Fortea in the meantime, strokes another one in! Triple! And second in the fourth quarter. Tomara with another one. This time, down it goes. 47 seconds remaining. Into the deep waters we go. Fortea again! Yeah! Of the last two years, and that will continue. As UB bounces back as they pull away in the fourth quarter against USD 83.
