Now I wanted to ask you a couple of questions about how you're feeling about the political
situation in this country right now. I know you're incredibly outspoken at the women's
march. Are we going to see more of that side of you in the years to come?
Yes, I don't plan on not using my voice anytime soon. You know, I've always been politically
active. My parents, my grandmother always encouraged all of us to be politically active,
vocal, involved, and a part of our local community, a part of the greater community. So
yes, I will continue to advocate for people that don't have the opportunity to be heard.
Sometimes people criticize actors for speaking out, particularly at the Oscars.
But obviously this is a platform where people can address a large audience and people,
actors, have passions and concerns. Does that bother you when you get criticized for your views?
I think that's just part of the bigger picture. It's part of the job. You put yourself out there
and people are going to have something to say about it. That's okay.
And as an actor, are you excited about performing still? Does that still excite you,
being at places like this? Is this fun for you?
Oh yeah, it's so great. Yesterday we had the rehearsal and I got to walk out in the Kodak
theater, which is about the 3,000 person occupancy, something like that. Walk out on that
big stage and it's so exciting. It makes you just remember what you love so much about your job,
the magic of your job. I love my job. I feel very fortunate to be able to do it.
