The Story of Chinese Character : 減

減 is composed of the BuShou of 水 (water) and 咸 (all). 咸 depicts a mouth being attacked by a weapon, and extends to the meaning of taste, while water can dilute the taste,so 減 has the meaning of reducing or diminishing.
