Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs. Leylah Fernandez | 2024 Tokyo Round 1 | WTA Match Highlights

Yeah, that's a nice start. Plenty of first serves. It's a sensational return game. Only done. She's so quick up the court. Tastic defense from Fernandez. This time she makes it count. And Sassanovic strikes first at the fourth time of asking. Spreading the play magnificently. Sweet. Well, we are going the distance. Did you ever doubt it? That's a great fight back from Lola Ani Fernandez. Nice. Sumptuous touch. Exquisite feel. Great resilience. From Sassanovic. Oh, that's the point of the match. Effortless backhand. Finds its mark. Just a game away from round two now. I think that might be the end of the match. Yeah, the problems that Alexandra Sassanovic had at the start of the match means she's not able to complete it. She had a gastric illness over the weekend, which meant she couldn't play in her second round of qualies. Got into the draw as a lucky loser, but not able to finish the match. So it is the number eight seed, Lola Ani Fernandez, who progresses. It's been such a physical battle.
