I Bought the Cheapest Ferrari F355 in the USA **BROKEN**

Just when you thought I couldn't get any dumber, I go and do something like this and totally
redeem myself. I've just traded my 1992 Acura NSX for a 1995 Ferrari F355. This is definitely
the smartest thing I've ever done. Except my NSX is perfect. It's exactly the way I would want to
have an NSX and there's nothing wrong with it. And the Ferrari, it's broken. A lot broken. But
it's a Ferrari and it's more than you can afford pal. Now I'll have the former owner of this Ferrari
here in a little bit and we can talk about how this all went down and he's got a lot of other
cool cars. I don't know if you've checked out a YouTube video I did a little while ago about his
orange 74 Carrera. But after I agreed to trade this car plus some cash, and I'll go into that
in a little bit, I did some research. So I did some research after I bought the Ferrari, which
is kind of weird. And the second Google search that pops up when you Google Ferrari F355 is an
article and it says, here's why you should never buy a Ferrari 355. And the writer says stupid
things like it costs more to maintain than a fighter jet. And the engine will explode into a
thousand pieces no bigger than an eyeball. And if you drive it more than once a year, it will break
and cost more than a kitchen remodel. Now he does go on to say that you can't put a price on one of
the most beautiful cars in the world, but your bankruptcy attorney can. Now who writes this stupid
stuff? Oh, anyway, let's get the owner Rob here. And we actually did this deal over a giant plate
of sushi at a sushi buffet. And it kind of happened by accident. So do you want to tell this story or?
I'll let you tell it. You tell it better than I can. Okay. Well, I was talking about how big of a pain in
the butt it is to sell this NSX. Everybody was emailing me about it when I listed it for sale,
but it didn't really attract any of the purists enthusiasts. It really attracted the Honda fan
boys. And they thought that they could just use their dull wit and ego to talk me into selling it
for $30,000. And after doing this dance about six times, I was super angry and sat down with Rob at
dinner and, and, uh, was telling him of my troubles. And I guess you just wanted to make me feel better
because you said, well, you could trade my Ferrari plus five grand, which was a joke, right? He really
said that because his car's broken. I've actually been trying to film this car for over a year. And
every time we schedule a time to film this car, uh, it breaks and he has to cancel. And this is
happening over and over and over again. He even sent it up to the car wizard one time and the
car wizard did a great job going through the whole thing, making it perfect. And then it broke not
long after that. So what, what happened? Well, I was going down the highway, uh, just kind of
accelerating a little bit and shifted from first to second. And then I heard a little pop thought,
Ooh, nice, you know, exhaust pop crackle looked in my mirror and there was just a cloud of smoke.
It was boom. And I was like, well, well, hopefully it's on fire, but unfortunately it was not.
So I pulled it over, popped the back and it just steam coming out everywhere, coolant going
everywhere. And I ordered yet another tow truck. Wow. But you didn't overheat it, right? No.
You were so confident when we, before we made this deal. And now you're saying that, I mean,
I define overheat. Like you talking about like the gauge going like here or more like
there, but you're just hamming it up for the camera now, right? No, unfortunately I'm not.
Well, you made this joke. And since I'm such a great negotiator, you said, Oh,
trade the NXX plus five grand. And I said, Oh no, no, no, we'll do it. The NSX plus 10,000.
That's never happened to me before. I've never actually had somebody offer me
more money than I offer to get rid of such an amazing, beautiful car. So this is happening
and now we have to load it onto a trailer. I can't really start it because it has no coolant in it.
I'm hoping it's just a coolant hose because you said the leak was far back in the engine bay,
right? Yeah. Under the radiator engine area. So if you didn't cook it, then it could be a
a hundred dollar fix. It could be a $25,000 engine rebuild. If he did overheat it pretty badly,
we'll hope not. So it's going to be really interesting to load this car onto the trailer.
I couldn't just call any tow truck because the car is so low that they would just ruin the front
air dam. I brought my truck and a trailer, and this is going to be quite a trip getting it on
there. Uh, especially since I can't really start it, but I own a Ferrari guys and it's more than
you can afford pal. It's probably more than I can afford actually. It's going to be. Yeah,
go ahead and push. All right. Make sure I got those wheels lined up so I can get a little
bit of a running start here. Push. I got some momentum. Okay. All right. I'm gonna have to help
you from here. Okay. This is where I need the wizard. Then there's wizard strength. What was
that? Yeah, it's almost off the board on the right side. Oh, that's not good. Yeah. I'm gonna come
back behind. I come here and push with you. Yep. Oh, there's no way.
Pleasure doing business with you, sir. Yeah. Get that thing the hell out of here.
All right. Well, Oh, I got a ratchet. Yeah. Yeah. All joking aside. You're sad now, huh?
I am a little sad. I am a little sad. I mean, it's probably blown up, but
with a beautiful, Oh, shut up. Now, Rob really is a ball buster. As you can see, is the car really
isn't nearly as bad as what he made it out to be. It actually has a really good history,
a clean Carfax. It has a lot of good service records like the valve guides and the exhaust
headers, which are common three 55 problems, but it is five years old on its major. And the major
is an engine out service to change the timing belt, which is a pretty big deal, but I'm not
in a huge hurry to get it done. The car wizard thinks that he can do it and I want to help him
out, but I'm going to enjoy this car through the spring. And then maybe when it's too hot in the
middle of summer, we'll tackle the timing belt, but I have a Ferrari guys. I can't believe it.
It also has a fancy named Italian exhaust on it that costs a lot of money, $7,000 apparently,
and some cool wheels and really does look like the car from the fast and furious. If you didn't
see that first fast and furious movie, that's where the more than you can afford pal line came
from. Check it out. What's the retail on one of those more than you can afford pal Ferrari.
The wizard has also worked on this Ferrari before about six months ago, he went through and did a
ton of stuff to it. And I actually accidentally backed into it once with my Bentley. Didn't hurt
it though, but it had a clean bill of health from the wizard not too long ago. Also, it's probably
the cheapest Ferrari three 55 in the USA, as I probably was only going to get about $37,000
for my NSX people were starting to bite. And that seemed to be the number. So if you take that plus
10,000, I bought this Ferrari for $47,000. And in the last couple of years, the Ferrari market has
just gone nuts. You can't find a clean title three 55 with any sketchiness for under 60. Really,
I know this thing has problems, but it does have a clean history and some good service records.
So if I get away with $100 hose, I'm really sitting pretty in this thing.
But if I'm needing engine work or something, then I'm screwed. So we'll have to see
what the wizard has to say. Well, hello, Izzy. Does she look familiar?
Happy to have her back. Well, maybe not for you. Oh man, I am really happy right now. But you've
done quite a bit of work to this thing, right? Yeah, it was running pretty poor when I first
got it in here, when Rob owned it and I got it running perfect. He was extremely pleased.
And now, now it has a coolant leak. Yes. Just a hose, right? I hope so. Okay. Well,
it was quite an event getting it loaded on, but with wizard strength and gravity,
it'll probably be a lot easier to get it off. Yeah.
