How 5 Blasts Take Me To My Destination - North Pakistan Travel Story | Gilgit to Skardu Road Blasts
This fun and exciting Pakistan Travel story happened when I was visiting the north of Pakistan and heading from Skardu to Gilgit and then onwards to Hunza.
We hit our first roadblock on Skardu Gilgit road, which set us back by 4 hours, followed by another blasting-related stop. We ended up spending the night because of the landslide on Skardu Gilgit Road. Check out the video to find some useful tips on what to do if you are ever stuck in this situation.
so this is a story of how five bomb blasts actually helped me get to my destination
before we go any further the story belongs to the north of pakistan
it's coming from skardu to gilgit and hunza and that happened last night
so before we go any further i want to give you some practical information
if you're coming off season the road between gilgit and skardu is not the best and it's
so they blast the roads every day and that creates problems that's exactly what happens
if you're coming in winter make sure you leave enough buffer before you come
so if you're coming in summer or in the season you can go to a store and from there you can
take the road through deosai and then get to skardu instead of going through the same road
i mean don't get me wrong it was absolutely absolutely beautiful the mountains you know
rugged dark mountains and then the absolutely gorgeous opal blue indus river it was just
magnificent so let's get to the story what happened was we left shigar quite early in
the morning and got to skardu in one hour and then we left for gilgit it takes usually from
skardu to hunza around eight to nine hours when the road is clear when the weather is clear but
we were in for a little bit of a surprise so they were blasting the road to make more space to
widen the road so we had to stop unfortunately for three hours at first so that was 10 and a
half in the morning we left around one o'clock 1 30 there was luckily a small roadside hotel
so we ate there we used the toilet there because there's nothing else for miles around we get to
our second stop and this time they were blasting the place again and this time we had to luckily
wait only two hours although they said it could take three to four hours so we were all happy
that we're gonna go it was about four and a half hours from there and then we get somewhere and it
turns out that the blast they did before actually created so much debris that the road is completely
blocked and there were giant boulders they told us it would be clear in a couple of hours
no one believed it and it was true
they had to basically put five bombs in there in those boulders one after the other to basically
get rid of them then there were giant cranes were cleaning the road and this took about
nine hours so we were stranded on that road in the middle of the night there was no hotel
nowhere to use the toilet no water if we didn't have any after those five blasts i was just ever
so happy i'd never thought i would actually feel happy listening to the sound of a bomb blast
and actually thinking oh my god that's actually a good thing but it happened so i learned a few
things and those are the ones i want to share with you so i always keep a few snacks on me
that has helped me massively i always keep a protein bar but if you're coming to pakistan
i would recommend getting some dry fruit because oh it's amazing dried apricots are speciality
cherries they do a lot of dry fruit it's amazing secondly i mean you can guess it from my lips the
place is really dry and your body gets like really really dry as well your skin too so you need to
drink a lot of water but because it's cold you don't really feel it so keep a lot of water with
you at all times and the most important thing when you're making plans to come to the north
of pakistan make sure you leave a little bit of a buffer if i hadn't done that if i had a very
tightly packed schedule i would never be able to do the rest of the trip from this point onwards
so that's the story of how five bomb blast helped me get to my destination i hope you liked it i
would also recommend you check my videos from skardu from shigar and also from khaplu and after
it's quite a lot to do here i know but if you check my blog you will find all the relevant
links including how you can do this entire itinerary in about two weeks so make sure you
check the link and also let me know how you found the story i'll share more stories as they come
along but this one was interesting and especially i want to thank all the people who were there
there was a giant communal spirit i loved it people really helped each other secondly i would
really like to thank the people who worked eight hour shift and then worked another nine hours
to clear the road for us so thank you very much i really appreciate it and and i'm sure everyone
else was there appreciates as well so check the link follow me on instagram for more stories
have a lovely day and i'll see you soon bye
