The Oregon Coast: Sunrises, Sunsets, Tacos, and Hiking

[Applause] [Music] all right it's Friday afternoon our anniversary was last week but since I was in Barcelona we couldn't do anything so Adam planned a surprise getaway for us this weekend the only thing I know is that it's in Oregon because I accidentally saw that on his phone but then I closed my eyes and I didn't want to see anything else so we're about to head out no idea where we're going but it should be really fun [Music] all right we're on the road and we are we're already in traffic it's gonna take us four hours to get to dinner eight minutes just to get on the highway I don't know where we're going for dinner I don't want to know what's a surprise I think it's important that it's gonna be good thing is in Portland and it's supposed to be really good so we'll see [Music] we made it surprise number one yeah where are we going puck puck I think that's how you say awesome restaurant in Portland I've been wanting to try for a long time he already told me earlier so that's why I'm not screaming but I did scream a little bit when he told me yeah we're ordering takeout because we have little Kona girl with us so we'll just eat in the car but yeah super super excited Kona's jealous she doesn't get [Music] all right I got a pork curry dish that I do not remember the name of slash could not pronounce anyway and Adam got cows soy first time trying it looks delicious good chunk of noodles up in there water noodles right there I'm gonna be tucking myself into some crispy wonton noodles yeah maybe oh yeah that's good all right final stop is an hour and 40 minutes away I'm trying to figure out where we're going but I'm directionally challenged and I don't know there's downtown Portland last night we are planning the beach I'm not really sure what we're doing I told Adam to keep everything a surprise so we're going on a hike next no idea where we're going I want to be surprised along the way so it should be a lot of fun [Music] all right so our next stop on our surprise anniversary trip drumroll please is Kings Mountain it's about five-ish miles back in the Tillamook State Forest I think our National Forest and we're gonna go hike that B and it'll be a good time [Music] so we're looking at the trail guide here and we're doing Kings Mountain and if you notice here very difficult whoops [Applause] I'm not afraid bring it on haven't hiked in a couple weeks but it'll be really fun all right we're maybe a quarter mile in I'm already panting excited to run to catch up to Adam carrying this 10-pound camera and stabilizer and haven't hiked in like three weeks so a lot about a hiking shape you were not kidding when they said this is difficult it is all uphill it's really fun though good workout but hard [Music] made it up to Kings Mountain and it said very difficult and it was no joke at the bottom I was saying difficult from epical but it was tough but it's beautiful [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] we did it hike number 50 Quan done stop on our anniversary getaway Adam knows the way to my heart we got beef tongue which we've never tried before so we will report on how he like that okay I'm about to try to eat tongue I'm not an adventurous eater at all but I'm doing it for the sake of this video calm mushy it's good I think it's good I'm not really sure what's the verdict on the talk is a plus very good a dollar 75 each which is even better I ended up not finishing my tongue taco because it just looks like a tongue and it kind of grossed me out and tastes bad it was just the look of it was weird and the texture is a little mushy so Adams eating my cuz he's a trooper and we don't want to waste food next up it combines two of Catherine's favorite things coffee implants into one we're at hidden a Korea's greenhouse we're going to go inside and check it out [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] beautiful sunset ever we got so lucky it's normally it's rainy in October today felt like a summer day oh my gosh absolutely perfect I know you didn't plan the sunset Adam mother nature cooked us Oh [Music] we woke up Sunday morning super foggy at our campsite it's right next to the beach we were gonna do a hike that's like five miles that takes you out on to Cape Lookout but again super foggy so we decided to switch up the plan a little bit and we came over here to Cape Mears lighthouse it's the shortest lighthouse in Oregon but it has the oldest Sitka spruce tree it's known as the octopus tree so we're gonna check all that out here and just the view behind me it's still foggy but with the Sun coming up and things like that it's just beautiful waves rolling in [Music] the [Music] we are at Cape Lookout Trail which is at the same State Park that we camped at and exciting news this will be our 52nd hike of our 52 hike challenge so excited the weather looks like it's gotten better so we're hoping for some nice ocean views not really sure what this hike is all about cuz everything's been a surprise but we're super excited we're finishing the 52 height challenge about two and a half months early so now we're coming for you 62 but 52 52 what you gonna do [Music] the sunshine it's a beautiful day here in Oregon we could have asked for a better way to finish the 52 egg challenge [Music] [Music] [Music] and that's a wrap on our Oregon weekend we had the best time ever we just stopped in Portland to get some coffee at Stumptown and get some lunch at a place called where oh that's a super delicious Mexican place we've been to before and now we're headed back to Seattle we hope you guys enjoyed following
