Welcome to this video on Extreme Konmari Closet Declutter & Clean with Me. I find it so gratifying to declutter especially using the konmari method. She makes it simple by asking "Does this item spark joy?" This konmari closet declutter took more time than I anticipated so expect a part 2 coming your way soon! Cheers to the konmari method and the help of Marie Kondo.

today we are going to be using the Konmari method and we are gonna tackle
this beast and you are coming right along with me let's get into it I want
to give you all a before-and-after here I think that is way more gratifying so
all these clothes and you all I have gone through these clothes several
several times with several moves that we've had over the past four years here
and so this is weeded down quite a bit so this is what we're going to tackle I
do not put many clothes in drawers at this point what my drawers are used for
our undergarments and socks mostly so we're going to tackle this go through
get rid of what we don't need I'm going to be asking myself throughout this
process does this item spark joy now I may not necessarily folding the items
like Mario Kondo but I'm going to implement her practice of does this
spark joy to help me whittle down and get this a bit more organized ready set
go
so the first thing that I'm going to do is I'm going to start separating things
into piles I have a basket there so those are all the donated items and then
up there by the headboard are going to be all the items that I'm going to keep
and then of course just putting the hangers there on the side Marie Kondo
expresses the importance of touching every single item so that's what I'm
doing here I'm being sure to touch every item of clothing and again asking myself
that pivotal question does this item spark joy
there were definitely times throughout this process that I wanted to start
rationalizing the items thinking oh I'll wear this someday or oh I forgot that
was even in here but I had to go back to that pivotal question and that really
helped me stay on track stay focused and really just declutter and get rid of
some of these items that I wasn't actually wearing
not too shabby it so I decided to break my closet up into two parts because this
is going to take me much longer than I anticipated
so look at all these hangers that's exciting this big basket here that's
overflowing our clothes that I am going to probably just donate and then all the
rest of the clothes here I will go ahead and hang back up in my closet and then
these scarves will go downstairs because I don't anticipate wearing them that
much longer since spring is soon approaching so that was a little bit
difficult I in my mind was thinking that oh I could wear this someday but then I
really had to ask myself does this item spark joy and if my immediate response
was not yes then I put it in the discard pile now let's load all the stuff back
in the closet
now as I'm putting these items away I still get the feeling that I could go
through this again that there's still too many items here I do not even wear
all those things there so I'm probably gonna whittle this down even more in the
near future especially with spring and spring cleaning but for now this is a
really good first start
one little trick that I learned and I believe it was from do it on a dime so
if anyone knows there you can correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure there's a lot of
people that have done this but I call it the hanger trick and this is a way to
tell if you've really worn the clothes enough or not and so each time you wear
the clothes flip it around like so so if I've worn this item of clothes I'm
gonna put it back I'm gonna put it like this and then at the end of the month or
after a couple weeks or two months I'm gonna really see what items I actually
wore with the most frequency and that's gonna really give me an objective idea
of what I'm making the best use of in my closet so give that method a try it is
really helpful especially if you're a little bit leery about starting a method
such as the konmari method or you're just kind of wanting to make some
changes in your closet and really good a good idea of how you're best using the
items that are in there thank you so much for joining me today if you enjoy
