How to Put in a Ponytail

hey kids so i have a bonus video for you this week um because i have an announcement for you um we're gonna me and my daughter are actually gonna go live on youtube next friday october 30th at 6 p.m pacific standard time it's our first time doing it so uh be gracious to us if we're not there then you'll understand we're having technical difficulties no anyway i think we i think we got it but anyway just wanted to get that out there in case in case we're struggling so uh and we're gonna be carving pumpkins um so we thought we'd give you a heads up not only so you know that we're gonna go live but maybe you wanna carve pumpkins right alongside us might be kind of fun to do um and we're actually going to be dressing up too so i actually haven't shaved for like two days so trying to grow up my for my costume grow out my beard a little bit so um so maybe you can guess what what i'm gonna be going as so um and so with this video also i'm gonna have my daughter show you how to put in a ponytail um i i've had a lot of requests from people from women asking hey can you do women related uh videos as well and so i thought you know that does make sense let's go ahead and do it and i'll start including my daughter with with that type of stuff because they're just things i'm limited with obviously i can't i don't have the resources to to put in a ponytail so um and she does so she wants to do that so uh and you know a side note about christine my daughter she um without her this channel would not exist uh we've i mentioned it to her a couple years ago and i thought you know i think it'd be a good resource for and i've shared this when i've had interviews uh you know i thought i'd be helping 30 or 40 people i had no idea that it would be um you know that it would be what it what it is today so we just want to keep continuing to be a resource for you and there's certain things i can't do so it makes sense to to have her be a part of it and you know without her encouragement um this channel wouldn't exist i i shared that on instagram but it is true because she's been encouraging me to do it for quite a while and you know i'm a normal human being so i you know making excuses why i couldn't do it or um or why i didn't have time but now with the quarantine you know we were quarantined and so i did my how to tie a tie to kind of throw my hat in the ring with it and it wasn't you know it wasn't that much very hard it wasn't a big time commitment to do how to tie a tie some of these other videos that i've done you know there's a bit more of a commitment but um anyway just so you know this is uh a big thank you to christine because she is the one that kind of made this thing happen um so anyway so she's going to show you how to do a ponytail but i am going to tell you a dad joke first so why don't uh why don't skeletons ever go trick-or-treating because they have no body to go with ah so anyway uh here's christine hey everyone it's christine um that's like my dad said i'm so excited to have y'all join us to carve some pumpkins next friday at 6 p.m pacific standard time so if you're on the west coast 6 p.m if you're not it's whatever time zone y'all are in regardless i'm so excited for you to join um while i have you here i thought i'd show you guys how to tie a ponytail um just a simple one so it's not gonna be fancy or anything but if you're in a crunch if you're on your way to volleyball practice and you just want to know how to tie it if you're in the locker room and i'm just not sure just thought i'd show you all that how to do that all right so basically what you need is a ponytail and a comb of some sort is helpful the main thing i really want to focus on is the movement of how to twist the ponytail i really like these let me see if i can zoom in these types of ponytails because they don't grab or snag at your hair um these ones are also they'll do just fine but it's whatever you prefer i'll just also use this one because it's easier to see so i'll show it off to the side here so that way you can kind of see my hand movement so you're going to gather all your hair into a bunch i might be missing a few strands but then we'll see i'm trying to show you the movement here so you're going to take your ponytail off of the wrist so you start with point on your wrist i use my left hand i'm realizing for when i do this to grab it you pull it off of your fist keep your fist here on your hair and drag your hair all the way through so it's now in the circle and now we're going to do is you're going to twist so now there's a grip here i'm going to come back the other way so with your hand open hold the bunch of hair let go with your other hand take your other hand to grab the ponytail they pull on through i try to twist usually three times will hold it so i'll do it one more time so again open hole twist open hand grab ponytail and then pull on through so that's your basic pony there you go so that's the movement that you're going to want to get so now if you're trying to get a high ponytail say you're going to like volleyball basketball softball football practice here's how i do it so you can either turn your head down and flip it or for the lack of video i'm just going to show you how to comb it on up so you're going to comb your hair back i like a wide tooth comb i have filipino like fine hair so it frizzes really easily if i use a brush it just breaks a little easier so i'm all about the wide tooth comb so i comb it back because that's gonna be the direction of where i'm gonna put my ponytail so there you go combing it back and starting here i'll try and move it all in one direction so it's easier to grab then i take my thumbs i put underneath the back of my hair and i start to bunch it all up so i'll also like run my hand back up again to make sure i got all the hairs then i'll run my fingers through to kind of help with the bunch all right so there you go let's see look in the mirror too okay so far so good if there's any bumps in your hair usually will happen to me like on the side i'll comb it back up oh see missed a little bit i see there's a bump right here so i'm going to comb that out so i'll take my wide tooth comb brush on through open my hey left hand all right i think i got most of the bumps out again not perfect but it's good for if you've got some kind of sports activity or just trying to get your hair out of the way and then i'll also comb the bottom of my hair to make sure i got that too okay so now you're going to hold your hair with the opposite make sure you got a point on the other hand okay opposite hand grab the ponytail while holding your hair with your other hand pull it through twist hold the hair use your other hand to pull the ponytail on your hair through twist hold the hair pull through all right and then at the very end i like to kind of pull it forward and then i'll tighten it like that so that's how you get hair in your ponytail another quick hack to kind of finish off i have whispies i have these little baby hairs um and i will just take a toothbrush and some hairspray and i'll just spray it on the toothbrush and i'll comb it down to kind of help with the wispies does it kind of help them it's often a little bit all right then i'll spray it again to get the other side of my baby hairs that
