Family Meeting

hey kids so i wanted to call a family meeting uh just to talk about a few things uh so please watch this entire video if you wouldn't mind it's gonna be less than 10 minutes uh it's a little serious so i'll include two dad jokes for you to lighten things up um i do actually have some notes here that i'm reading from because i just want to cover everything so uh you know here's the dad jokes so of all the inventions of the last 100 years the dry erase board has to be the most remarkable ah so and then have you heard about those new corduroy pillows they're making headlines so you know i felt the need to call a family meeting to discuss the future of my channel dad how do i i've been struggling for the past two years with work life balance uh as most of you know i'm still working at my regular job but it's been harder and harder for me to juggle everything and to be completely transparent with you it's actually been challenging mentally uh for all that i've already been through plus juggling all this uh and you know even though i have lots of people wanting to support me by subscribing i don't make any money from that it's strictly based on views uh so i think you all know that i didn't start this channel to change careers but the reality is there is a need for it you know i enjoy putting out videos for all of you but if i had to rely solely on my youtube channel for income i wouldn't even come close to making it you might assume with over 4 million subscribers that money is just flowing in uh but that is not even close to the truth if i shared with you how little i get paid by youtube you might be surprised and you might honestly even be upset about it you know i've come to a fork in the road where i either step away from dad how do i and go back to my day job or i allow companies to sponsor some of my some of my videos and go all in on my channel in recent comments i was accused of never recommending a product before but now i'm recommending one because i'm getting paid i need to set the record straight on that these are just some of the products i recommended without any compensation or very little compensation as you'll see a dewalt drill i think it's a great drill so i recommended it a gillette razor uh in my shaving video i say i use a gillette razor i didn't get anything from gillette and in fact after that i received uh a razor company wanted to work with me and i said i've never used your razor i'll need to try it out they sent me their razor and i cut my nose you know part of the thing i like about that gillette razor is you flip it around and you have that blade on the back so you can get under your nose on this particular company that sent me their razor i cut myself i'm trying to trying to shave with that um that razor on that on the back side i i've also recommended rhodes cinnamon rolls um because i think they're good and they've come out really good and they're easy they're frozen cinnamon rolls you know what i got compensated for that uh um i reached out to him and said hey i just did a video on your cinnamon rolls just like you might know want to know uh and it has about a hundred thousand views uh they sent me a coupon for a free pack of cinnamon rolls so that's what i got compensated when i say very little uh you know i've i've recommended a craftsman air compressor i've recommended trader joe's pizza though uh and i actually had people in the comments say you should reach out to trader joe's and have them sponsor your video um but if i did that would that be selling out if i worked with something that i actually uh would would recommend to somebody you know i've always thought of i've always personally thought of verizon as the best network and i share that in the video that i recently did you know i mighta could done things a little bit different maybe change the title a little bit and so i you know i'll take ownership of that um but i so when visible at verizon reached out to me um visible by verizon reached out to me i thought boy this is perfect i've always wanted to be on verizon and it's actually lower than my current carrier and i've been putting up with them for for all this time so you know what since i never planned for this channel to be what it is um there's been a steep learning curve as you can probably imagine i've been through several managers because i tend to trust people i've been through different uh other companies that i were telling me they could help me and that didn't work out um so i thankfully i finally have an amazing manager now you know in a similar manner i'm doing my best to figure out how to work with sponsors so hopefully you will give me a little bit of grace as i try to figure it all out you may or may not know this but i get sponsors contacting me basically on a daily basis if i was selling out why am i not working with every sponsor that contacts me it's because i'm weighing them to see that doesn't make sense i you know um and so i you would probably be surprised about how many times i get contact with but my companies want to sponsor another thing too so you know i've tried to keep my channel a kind safe place to learn things when trolls have come in and have said mean comments to my internet kids i've defended my internet kids and even blocked some trolls from my channel when they wouldn't stop so when come someone comes in and calls me names and even questions my integrity the first thing i want to do is block them as well however i thought i could use this as a teachable moment one of the things people hate about the internet is people for some reason feel it's okay from the comfort of your own home to just rip into people if you did that in person you'd probably get punched in the nose and when you when you're questioning someone's integrity or you're kind of questioning that person's name i've always felt like having a good name is so important and i'll defend it to the death and so you could call me ugly or you could call me you know something but if you are questioning my integrity that uh is something that i'll always stand up for and i would encourage you to do the same if somebody is questioning you know you defend your family to the end and defend your name to the end i think that's really important to keep your name uh solid so you know i think we can all learn from each other and i've said that in other videos we need each other and we can learn from each other i thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about proper courtesy in expressing your opinion on the internet or anywhere for that matter you know you will have disagreements in your life you just will we're all different so you're going to have disagreements uh i i i think that's great because it keeps the world interesting if we were all the same i think that would be pretty boring uh so you know when you're when you have a disagreement do you jump to conclusions um the bible says be slow to speak and quick to listen i think that's very important i've observed in arguments people are waiting for their turn to talk rather than listening to what the other person's saying so that they can respond they've already made up their mind they're going to say something uh accusations do you know are you making accusations do you have all the facts before you're making accusations of people name calling you know please keep in mind when you're calling somebody a name there's a person on the other end of your hurtful name calling that's a person even though it's the internet there's still a person on the other end uh you know and then if you're out of line maybe you know apologize if you think that that's necessary you know rather than be too proud to go back and say you know i was wrong there so like i said if you are were offended by my last video i'll take ownership of that um and like i said i probably could have named it different um yeah so anyway move on from that you know i personally wish i would have taken debate uh in school because it teaches you some of these skills and there's no name calling you just get the facts out there and then everybody can make their decision my commitment to you as i will only work with companies that i either use myself and or that i would recommend to my own kids so in my attempt to be able to have some mental stability in my life and leave my job so i can concentrate on one thing full time i will need to start including more sponsored videos by working with sponsors that i work with it will allow me to leave my job and spend more time with all of you also by working with sponsors it will allow me to give to greater causes and help even more people which is ultimately my goal let me know what you think in the
